Well, Pete Davidson Now Has Ariana Grande's Named Tattooed on His Ribcage

It looks like marriage is just one of the major commitments Pete Davidson is making to Ariana Grande. The Saturday Night Live star recently revealed yet another tattoo dedicated to his bride-to-be, and it’s his biggest one yet.In a new photograph of Davidson without his shirt on, you can clearly see the word “Grande” in large cursive lettering inked vertically across the back of his ribcage. Grande, indeed.

Of course, this is one of a number of Grande-inspired tattoos that Davidson has covered his body with. As far as we know, he has her Dangerous Woman bunny mask above his ear and her initials “AG” on his thumb. FWIW, he isn’t the only one declaring his love in ink form. He and Grande also have matching cloud tattoos on their fingers, and the letters “H2GKMO,” which stands for “honest to God knock me out,” which Grande recently tweeted she says “300 times a day” since meeting Davidson. She also reportedly has a tattoo tribute in honor of Davidson’s father, a firefighter who lost his life in 9/11.

With his latest addition, it appears Davidson is actively ignoring the advice of one of his tattoo artists, Jon Mesa, who recently advised against anymore “girlfriend tats” after covering up some old ink of ex Cazzie David’s face. “So I did a huge coverup [adding a forest of trees]…After we were done, I told Pete, ‘Hey, dude, let’s just stop with the girlfriend tats until after [Ariana’s] your wife,’” he said. “Because relationships come and go, and Pete is a really young man. [But] I think that went in one ear and out the other.”

Davidson and Grande haven’t announced a wedding date yet, but planning is well underway. And when it finally does happen, they’ll both have some serious ink to show off on their big day.

SNL's Michael Che Goes Undercover as a Liberal White Woman Named Gretchen

In this week’s episode of Saturday Night Live, Michael Che, who co-hosts “Weekend Update,” went undercover as a liberal white woman named Gretchen, and the result is pretty much gold. Che has been known to make waves with some of his jokes and comments on and off the show, but he says the hate mail he receives in response is overwhelmingly from “super liberal white women.”

So in an effort to understand things from their perspective, Che went on a hilarious mission to go undercover as a liberal white woman—complete with research (reading Yelp and Lena Dunham‘s book, listening to “the most ignorant rap music” he could find) and a makeover (sporting a long blond wig, Warby Parker glasses, scarves…but no makeup)—and headed off to brunch to see what life is like as a liberal white woman.

Che learned that some stereotypes and generalizations about white women—and in some cases, all women—aren’t, well, completely inaccurate. He did come away with a few #tooreal observations, like: “Maybe they do eat a lot of pizza…and a lot of salads to balance out the pizza.” While in undercover mode, Che also encountered some of the privileges upper-middle-class white women stereotypically benefit from, like randomly receiving money in the mail from their parents and drinking wine during the day without judgment.

But he also experienced some of the downsides and frustrations of being a woman, regardless of race, political affiliation, or economic status. Che encountered—and successfully challenged—a manspreader on the subway, something all of us who take public transportation have experienced countless times.

At a dinner party, he was mansplained to by a white guy claiming that “white men have it just as hard as anybody else,” to which he responded, “Check your privilege, dude!” And when Che found himself alone in an elevator with a man (in his case the man in question was episode host James Franco, so not quite a realistic moment, but still), he reacted the way many of us feel like doing in uncomfortable situations—by hugging his purse in front of his body and turning the other direction.

Che also calls out his girlfriends gushing about Meghan Markle’s engagement ring, saying “I just feel like the monarchy is literally the patriarchy. And as a liberal white woman, I can’t support that sh*t.”

NASA Honors 'Hidden Figures' Heroine Katherine Johnson With a Research Building Named After Her

PHOTO: Courtesy of 20th Century Fox

It has been a big year for Katherine Johnson, the “human computer” who served as the brains behind NASA’s launch of astronaut John Glenn into orbit. Hidden Figures, the movie based on her inspiring—though, until recently, largely unknown—career premiered in January 2017. Taraji P. Henson portrayed Johnson onscreen, and the film won for outstanding performance by a cast in a motion picture at the Screen Actors Guild Awards. Even more importantly, the film and its portrayal of Johnson is being credited with galvanizing more young women to consider careers in science and technology. Now, in a very much overdue honor for the trailblazer, NASA has just dedicated a new facility to honor the mathematician: the Katherine G. Johnson Computational Research Facility.

Johnson was celebrated at the building’s ribbon-cutting ceremony earlier this week. In a pre-taped interview before the ceremony, the 99-year-old was asked how she felt about the recognition she was receiving. “You want my honest answer?,” she says. “I think they’re crazy.” Johnson then went on to acknowledge her coworkers, many of whom also remained unrecognized until Hidden Figures made a splash on the big screen. “I was excited at something new, always liked something new,” she said. “But give credit to everybody who helped. I didn’t do anything alone but try to go to the root of the question and succeeded there.”

ICYMI, NASA has been planning a much-talked about mission to Mars, the calculations for which could very well be done in Johnson’s new building. It that were to happen, says Johnson, “I’ll be exceedingly honored, greatly honored.”

Johnson also took a moment during her interview to share her advice for the young NASA engineers who will work at her namesake building. “Do your best, but like it,” she says. “Like what you do and then you will do your best.” Johnson credits that and her strong work ethic for her own success.

CoverGirl Just Named Issa Rae As Its New Ambassador

Issa Rae is the success story we need right now. After gaining a rabid following on YouTube with her web series, “Awkward Black Girl,” (still, incredibly, going by the handle “actingrl112”), the actress took over HBO with her critically acclaimed series, Insecure. That all sounds like a lot of high-minded accolades—and it is—but it’s really all thanks to Rae’s knack for nailing the details. She calls out both the absurd and bittersweet moments in our day to day. Now, she’s just been named CoverGirl’s newest ambassador—and she’s the perfect choice for this significant role.

Fans of Rae probably remember that her “Awkward Black Girl” character came from her own experience, heightened to really emphasize the absurdity of the things we do. But speaking to her real life on Instagram, Rae explained just how important of a move this is for black women young and old. “I remember being an awkward black girl in high school, reading the pages of my favorite magazines, casually flipping through @COVERGIRL ads, singing their slogan in my head,” she wrote. “Never EVER in my life did I imagine I’d be one. I am SO honored and SO excited for what’s to come.”

In CoverGirl’s announcement, a spokesperson for the brand told us that they saw what we all see: “With her characteristic wit and charm, unique observations on life and culture, and outspoken but relatable nature, Issa truly embodies the CoverGirl spirit of inclusive self-expression, inspiring people to embrace what makes them unique and confidently represent that to the world.” Speaking to the power of makeup, Rae said that, “My character is ever-evolving, and makeup is a tool to help transform my persona—whether for a role I play in content that I produce, or the different roles I take on in my life.”

She added: “Becoming a CoverGirl means a lot because the brand recognizes just how important it is for people to embrace their individuality and express themselves in unique and diverse ways. This has been a major part of my personal journey, and a message that I want to share with others.”

As anyone who’s seen Insecure can attest, the series revolves around portraying her experience 100 percent authentically. And with CoverGirl’s growing portfolio of ambassadors—like Muslim beauty blogger Nura Afia and YouTube makeup guru James Charles—Rae’s addition proves the brand is continuing to push for genuine, diverse role models.
