Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Are Moving Into Kensington Palace

Ever since their May wedding, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been navigating a schedule chock-full of royal outings, charity engagements, weddings, and Meghan’s cookbook launch; they even managed to sneak away for a top-secret trip to Amsterdam and bring a new, adorable addition into their family. But when they do have down time, you won’t find them living in Kensington Palace: Instead, they’ve been staying in the two-bedroom Nottingham Cottage on the palace grounds, next door to Princess Eugenie and her fiancé, Jack Brooksbank.

Until now, that is: Prince Harry and the Duchess of Sussex are moving—across the yard.

According to MailOnline, Meghan and Harry are packing up their belongings and moving into their permanent home: an apartment in Kensington Palace. The outlet reports that the couple’s new home has been undergoing a year-long, £1.4 million (approximately $1.8 million) renovation, with a specific focus on repairs to the roof and windows, which explains why the Duke and Duchess have waited until now to finally move in.

The spectacular 21-room Apartment 1, located on the west side of the Palace, also neighbors the home of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, who live in Apartment 1A. Take a look at the newlyweds’ new home below, when it was still under renovation:

Taylor Swift Fans Held Up $1 Bills As She Gave a Moving Speech About Her Sexual Assault Trial

Last year, on August 14, former radio DJ David Mueller was found guilty of groping Taylor Swift during a 2014 pre-concert meet-and-greet in Denver. After a lengthy litigation process—which involved Taylor countersuing Mueller for a symbolic $1, after his initial lawsuit alleged that her sexual assault claims cost him his job—the judge officially dismissed Mueller’s case.

At the time, Taylor offered a prepared statement to thank the judge and her lawyers for “fighting” for her and other sexual assault survivors in the courtroom. And Tuesday night, on the anniversary of her winning verdict, Taylor offered more poignant statements about her trial during a stop on her Reputation tour.

“A year ago I was not playing in a stadium in Tampa, I was in a courtroom in Denver, Colorado. This is the day the jury sided in my favor and said that they believed me. I guess I just think about all the people that weren’t believed and the people who haven’t been believed, and the people who are afraid to speak up because they think they won’t be believed,” Swift said, according to People. “I just wanted to say I’m sorry to anyone who ever wasn’t believed because I don’t know what turn my life would have taken if somebody didn’t believe me when I said something had happened to me. So I just wanted to say we have so much further to go, and I’m so grateful to you guys for being there for me for what was really a horrible part of my life.”

She continued, “I wanted to thank you for just kind of…I mean, I know when I meet you guys at meet-and-greets and after the shows, you guys tell me about the hard times that you’ve gone through in your lives, and I really appreciate you trusting me with that information. And you know, you guys have seen me go through so many ups and downs in my life just due to the public nature of the way my life is, and I just wanted to say that I’m so happy to see you and to have you and know you through the ups and the downs in my life. Sorry, I just haven’t really talked about it, and so I’m just not composed at all.”

While Taylor was speaking about her sexual assault, fans held up $1 bills around the stadium to show their support. See a few examples, below:

‘Suits’ Is Officially Moving On Without Meghan Markle

When Meghan Markle announced her engagement to Prince Harry in November, many wondered if this meant the end for her hit television show, Suits. After all, the soon-to-be duchess is now too busy with royal engagements, plans for a wedding the whole world will be watching, and a move to England to continue filming the series in Toronto. But fear not, fans of cable legal dramas: The show will go on, despite the fact that Markle and her costar Patrick J. Adams are leaving. Today the USA Network announced that the show will indeed be back on the air for its eighth season.

“After seven seasons, Suits remains one of USA Network’s most beloved and popular series,” Chris McCumber, president, entertainment networks, NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment, said in a statement. “While we’re excited for season eight, everyone at USA will deeply miss Patrick and Meghan, and are grateful for the talent and commitment they brought to Suits season after season. We wish each of them nothing but the very best.”

The onscreen couple will say goodbye in the two-hour season seven finale, which airs Wednesday, April 25. Needless to say, Adams and Markle will be missed by their former castmates and bosses. “Not only have they been outstanding in their roles as Mike and Rachel, they are also superb human beings who will always be beloved members of the Suits family, and we wish them well in their days to come,” Aaron Kursh, the show’s creator and executive producer, also said in a statement.

So what can people expect from the show next season, sans Markle and Adams? Basically, everything it’s become well-known for—including “shifting alliances and internal power plays, to secrets, betrayals and fiery relationships”—and, according to the network, there may be a new, darker adversarial character to come.

As for Adams and Markle, their plates will certainly still remain full. As Patrick told The Hollywood Reporter, he plans to spend time with his wife, Pretty Little Liars star Troian Bellisario, and Markle, well, you know what she’s up to this spring. At least this way their characters can live happily ever after.

“It just so happens that the timing of how I was feeling and what was going on in Meghan’s life created an opportunity where there was no need to force some conflict or tear Mike and Rachel apart,” Adams said. “It allowed us to go onto whatever happens next for Mike and Rachel together.”

Catt Sadler Is Done Looking In the Rearview Mirror: 'I'm Only Moving Forward'

While thousands of people hit the streets on the East Coast this afternoon to protest President Trump’s administration and come together for social and political change for the second year in a row, celebrities three hours behind on the West Coast were just getting started.

In Los Angeles, we hit the city’s Women’s March and caught up with former E! News co-anchor Catt Sadler, who was joined by other celebrity speakers like Natalie Portman, Allison Janney, Viola Davis, and more on stage.

Wearing a Rebecca Minkoff “Grl Pwr” sweater, Sadler, who recently walked away to much fanfare from her E! News job after finding out her male co-host was making double her salary, tells Glamour that this year’s march has particular meaning.

“It’s weird being on the other side,” she says. “I am humbled and I am honored to be on the stage with some of my heroes today…I don’t have it all figured out, but I now know that I have to use my voice like I did. And that’s what so much of this is about: women refusing to remain silent. Hear our voice.”

For Sadler, that means using her platform to help other women fight and achieve equal pay in the workplace. “I’m hearing from women saying I am going to walk away tomorrow or I’m going to go into my bosses office. I am going to ask what my male counterpart is making,” she says.

And though the mom of two wants to correspond with every single woman who’s reached out, she’s well aware of the time constraint. “That is why I want to stay out here and continue to shine a light,” she says. “It is not my story. It is one of millions. It just so happens that I have somewhat of a platform so I am using my voice for those that can’t.”

If you find yourself in Sadler’s former position and are inspired by her bravery, here’s what you should do. “If you’re stuck, it’s about engineering a really nice exit strategy,” she says. “You keep your head down, you do what you’ve got to do, but there are really good companies and places that you can call home where it will be different. I think, with every day that goes by, and the more we expose what is happening, I think change will happen.”

Sadler, unsurprisingly, isn’t interested in going back to her old gig, even if they offered her equal pay the second go-around. “I’m not looking in the rearview mirror anymore. I’m only moving forward,” she says.

As for the rumors surrounding an E! News boycott on the red carpet? She’s pleading the fifth. “I can’t confirm or deny that, but I hear rumblings,” she says. But that doesn’t mean she’s not totally on board. “I have very bittersweet feelings about somewhere I was for 12 years, you know what I mean? But if I thought that could make lasting change and make a much bigger impact on other women and their workplace experiences by them doing that? Then yes, I suppose I would.”

With Her Clothes, Meghan Markle Is Moving the Monarchy Into a New Age

Everything the British royal family does is steeped in tradition, right down to the clothes they wear. Dresses and skirts of modest length, hats before 6:00 P.M. (but not after—that’s when the tiaras come in); wearing all-black is simply off limits, unless there is a funeral to attend. Needless to say, getting dressed in the morning is a bit more complicated when you have a title. All of this makes Meghan Markle—the divorced, biracial, ripped-jeans-wearing, equal-rights-championing, politically-minded Hollywood actress that’s soon to be wed to Prince Harry—such a breadth of fresh air, particularly when it comes to her fashion.

Not since Wallis Simpson, who sparked a constitutional crisis across the pond in 1936 by marrying into the royal family, has as much of an outsider joined the House of Windsor’s ranks. And if anyone has the opportunity to change what it looks like—and ultimately means—to be in a princess (okay, technically duchess) in the modern age, it’s Markle. So say the insiders: “Meghan will become an international role model to women of all ages, and I’m sure she recognizes this great responsibility and privilege,” Myka Meier, the founder and director of Beaumont Etiquette, tells Glamour.

Meier trained in London under a former member of the royal household, and has worked with members of the British royal family, including Prince Charles. She believes that “Prince Harry has probably been very supportive of [Markle] letting her be herself and not feel pressure to change her style.” The fact that she’s worn everything from jeans, to outfits showing off her bare gams, to stepping out for official engagements with no makeup and her hair in a messy bun, to wearing all-black are all clear signals that even in her official duties as a royal, she is most likely going to show up dressed as “Meghan” rather than a “Windsor.”

According to her superfans, it’s the very fact that Markle doesn’t appear to want to conform to the royal status quo that makes her such a compelling fashion icon in the making. “She’s modern and on-trend like we’ve never seen from a royal before,” Christine OBrien-Ross, who’s been chronicling Markle’s style on the blog Meghan’s Mirror alongside Amanda Dishaw since 2016, says. “A lot of what we see her in is just not what you would expect from someone in royal life: We know things about to her, we can relate to her, she feels like someone who would be in our girl crew—but she’s also not afraid to take fashion risks.”

If the royal family all too often runs the risk of seeming stuffy and out of touch, Markle appears to be the perfect antidote. Take the ripped jeans Markle wore to the Invictus Games for her first official appearance with Prince Harry last fall—you’d be hard pressed to think of a British royal family member wearing denim in public, let alone a distressed pair.

Then, there’s the outfit Markle wore to make her engagement announcement: a white trench coat and beige high-heels, sans stockings.

Per experts, there’s an unspoken rule that the Queen expects women in the royal family to wear nude stockings in public—Markle, like most women these days, just didn’t.

For her engagement photos, she dared to wear a sheer Ralph & Russo couture gown, with strategically-placed gold leaf embroidery for modesty. It was a sartorial choice that didn’t go unnoticed: “You’ve never seen a royal engagement photo like this,” one commentator wrote on Twitter; another wrote, “Now I love the classic, timeless elegance of Kate, but can we just take a minute to swoon at these new engagement pics of Meghan in that sheer dress..I. Can’t. Actually. Deal. Bring that sexy into the royals girl!”

The royal’s engagement photos, are, by design, a public relations campaign. Kate Middleton, wearing a modest white dress, was positioned as sweet and demure in hers. Princess Diana, in a conservative blue skirt suit and neck-tie blouse, was painted as matronly and traditional. Markle is seemingly sending an entirely different message: She’s hipper and cooler than pretty much anyone that has come before her.

“Meghan did things her own way wearing that sparkling gown,” OBrien-Ross says. “It shows that she is going to create her own path as a royal and, even in a formal gown, she is still just Meghan, that down-to-earth girl from LA.”

A sign that the world is ready for this different breed of princess? The famously tough British press has been eating up Markle’s style. A recent The Sun headline labeled her “relatable, sexy and trendier than Kate.” The Guardian calls her a “a California girl” thanks to her relaxed style. And The Financial Times referred to her as “unconventional” and “the most interesting addition to the Windsors since Diana Spencer.”

Markle’s biggest fashion statement, however, has yet to be seen—we’re talking, of course, about her wedding dress. Kensington Palace has been predictably tight-lipped on exactly what Markle will wear to her May nuptials. However, she’s reportedly considering Inbal Dror, an Israeli fashion brand known for figure-hugging gowns—quite the departure from Grace Kelly, or even her future sister-in-law, Kate Middleton. It may raise some eyebrows, but it’s what we should be expecting from modern royalty, insiders say.

“We need to remember this is a 21st-century royal family, and styles thankfully do change,” explains Grant Harrold, known as “The Royal Butler” and whose worked for both Prince Charles and Prince Harry. “What might not have been ‘the done thing’ in the 20th century might become ‘the in thing’ for the 21st century.”

You don’t need to look very far into their family tree to see how the Windsors have evolved royal conventions. “The Queen over the decades has changed her style and got it right every time,” says Harrold. Similarly, the Duchess of Cambridge nudged the royal family forward ever so slightly wearing affordable clothes by mass retailers like Zara. And Princess Diana famously pushed the envelope with her wardrobe during her separation and subsequent divorce from Prince Charles. Consider Markle just a much more noticeable step forward in the House of Windsor’s legacy.

And while it’s easy to dismiss the fashion choices of the royal family as trivial (or even inconsequential), think about the role clothes play in sending a message to the world more broadly, about who you are as a person: With girls in the U.S., the U.K., and across the globe inevitably looking to Markle as she joins the ranks of British royalty, what could it ultimately mean to them to have a different kind of princess to look up to—one who has had her own career, lives by her own rules, and is in touch with the world, all while dressing for herself? Maybe then, “princess culture” wouldn’t be such a bad thing.
