American Princess: A New York City socialite runs away to join the Renaissance Fair after her husband cheats on her on their wedding day. “This [idea] was entirely sold on Private Benjamin goes to the Ren-faire,” the show’s creator, Jamie Debo, told Glamour. “We made our actors watch Private Benjamin. Private Benjamin was a huge influence, particularly for Jewish women in the ‘70s and ‘80s. It was the first movie that Goldie Hawn prodouced. It’s Goldie Hawn as an unapologetic, fucking American princess. It’s every Jewish mom’s favorite movie. Goldie personified the feminine comedian.
