Taylor Swift's New Music Video for ‘Christmas Tree Farm’ Is Filled With So Many Adorable Home Videos

Taylor Swift surprised fans this week by releasing a brand new song and music video—and a Christmas-themed one, at that.

On Thursday, Swift posted about the new music with a video asking her cats—Olivia, Meredith, and Benjamin—if she should drop the single she’d just written, instead of waiting a whole year for Christmas 2020. “When in doubt, ask the itty bitty pretty kitty committee. When they shun you with silence, ambivalence, and judgmental brush offs… just put the song out anyway. NEW XMAS SONG AND VIDEO (made from home videos ?‍?‍?‍?) OUT TONIGHT #ChristmasTreeFarm ?????????????,” she wrote.

The singer also dropped a brand new music video for the song “Christmas Tree Farm,” which features a ton of adorable home video footage of Swift as a little girl with her parents and little brother, Austin. As her fans know, she did grow up on actual Christmas tree farm in Pennsylvania before moving to Nashville to begin her music career, and you can see the magical spot in the video. “I actually did grow up on a Christmas tree farm. In a gingerbread house, deep within the yummy gummy gumdrop forest,” she tweeted. “Where, funnily enough, this song is their national anthem. #ChristmasTreeFarm song and video out now .”

How cute is she? I love seeing her open up what might just be her first guitar, knowing what we know now about where that gift led. The song is lovely, too though not Swift’s first foray into holiday music. In 2007, she released the album Sounds of the Season: The Taylor Swift Holiday Collection, which included covers of songs like “Last Christmas” and “Santa Baby.”

Of course, it wouldn’t be a Taylor Swift release if her fans didn’t go deep diving for Easter eggs and clues about future projects. One fan drew attention to one of the home video’s dates. “Uhm… guys. Look at the date. November 23 1989. Taylor wasn’t born yet. 8 days until the end of the month and then 13 days later she was born… 8… 13. TS8 is coming #ChristmasTreeFarm @taylorswift13 @taylornation13,” they wrote.

Admittedly, that’s a bit of a stretch—but we do know Swift likes to hide clues in her songs and videos, so nothing is totally off the table.

How Home Improvement Helped Me Work Through Grief

I am not one of those people who constantly updates her home’s décor. I keep it clean and child-friendly for our seven grandchildren, and cozy, I hope, for everyone who walks through our door. I have never dreamed about gut renovations or even rotated furniture. I have seldom fretted over paint colors. Our downstairs has an open floor plan, and for six years all of the walls were a shade that my friend Jackie once described as “meconium stain.” I didn’t like the color, but I couldn’t seem to find time to do something about it.

Someday, I told myself. Someday I’ll get around to seeing my favorite colors on these walls.

But after my brother’s death, something shifted. I felt so depleted, and I worried that I was losing the sense of optimism that had always kept me afloat, even in the toughest times. I stood in the middle of my dining room, suddenly aware of the warning in those dingy walls. They reflected how I felt, and that was not a good thing.

I glanced down at our dog, Franklin, who was sitting on the floor at my feet, and raised my arms in the air. “What am I waiting for?” On cue, he stood up and turned to face the living room windows, his tail thumping against my calves.

For the first time since my brother’s death, I felt a stirring of something other than sadness. Over the next few weeks, I recognized this flutter as a call to action. What, indeed, was I waiting for?

Two months later, our first floor is now a palette of cream, blue, yellow and, on one wall, a daring shade of burnt orange. “I wish I’d done this sooner,” I told Jackie’s wife, Kate.

“You’ve changed it now,” she said. “It was time.” The look on her face told me she was talking about more than a fresh coat of paint. People who love me had been worried about me. I have always been the strong one—by upbringing and by choice. But this time my stoicism was fake and useless. I needed to invite my friends back into my life.

Kim Kardashian Rented Out Her Childhood Home for Kris Jenner's Birthday

What do you get Kris Jenner, the woman who basically has everything, for her birthday? Well, daughter Kim Kardashian had some very creative (and sweet) ideas that she kept as a surprise from her family until the big day arrived.

In an Instagram post, Kim revealed that she rented out the Kardashian childhood home for the day and invited the family and her mom’s closest friends to enjoy it together. In the video, you get to see the moment that everyone finds out where the real location of the celebration is—though Kim makes sure to tell everyone that she did not, in fact, buy the house. Jenner is naturally overcome with emotion.

“Today we celebrate my mom. Anyone that knows her, knows how sentimental she is. For her birthday I planned a small lunch, with just her kids and her closest friends of 40+ years. I sent out invites with a location where we all met,” Kim wrote on Instagram. “When everyone arrived, I told them I had a surprise and this wasn’t where we would be eating. I then gave everyone the REAL invitation and once everyone saw the address for where we would be going tears filled the room. I rented our childhood home.”

“All of our memories live here especially with our dad. It’s where each Kardashian child was born and made us who we are,” she continued. “Growing up, the home had the most ridiculous wallpaper and kitchen set! I remade all of our table settings, decor out of the same fabric and print as the wallpaper. We had lunch at the home as if it hadn’t changed and we cried the entire time.”

But if you thought that was it, you know know this family. “When we walked out to get our cars to drive there, I had another surprise! I had rented every car my parents ever owned. I had some waiting outside so we could drive them to the house and the rest were lined up in the driveway of the house exactly how my parents used to have them parked. I even remade the exact license plates. (Yes my mom had a 2 DIE 4 license plate!)”

It sounds like it was a very emotional (in a good way) day for everyone. “We drove to the home in these cars and relived our childhood! This was the best day ever. I am so proud I was able to keep such a meaningful surprise a secret from my mom and sisters for weeks! This was the most special, nostalgic day of my life and we felt my dad’s presence enjoying this day with us!” Kim wrote. “I kept it together and didn’t cry the entire lunch even though I cried during the entire planning process. But at the end I went into my old bathroom, closed the door and cried so hard.”

“I can’t stop crying ? @kimkardashian thank you for planning this for all of us, and @krisjenner thank you for giving us the best childhood ??❤️,” Kourtney Kardashian commented. Sister Khloé added, “You are the best daughter EVER.”

And what did the birthday girl think? Well, she loved it: “I can’t stop crying ? this was the most magical day I can remember… Kim you are an angel to all of us … I can’t express what this meant to me and I will now have this beautiful day to add to a lifetime of the most fabulous memories. I couldn’t bear for it to end ❤️? ⭐️✨?.”

Ariana Grande Transformed Her Home Into a Full Haunted Hotel for Halloween

Ariana Grande went all out for Halloween 2019. The star threw a massive party, transforming her entire home into a haunted hotel for the occasion. The themed costume bash, which she called “Ariana’s Twilight Zone,” included Lizzo, Nicki Minaj, Demi Lovato, Grande’s brother Frankie, and tons of other celebs who turned up for the full spooky experience.

On Instagram, Grande shared scenes from the big event, which featured a long, creepy dinner table surrounded by skeletons and lots of candles to set the ambiance. The whole thing was the perfect setting for Grande to show off her chilling costume: She paid homage to the classic Twilight Zone series by putting on prosthetics that imitated ones from the episode “Eye of the Beholder.” (To refresh your memory, the episode involves a woman taking off bandages after surgery to fit into an alternate universe where everyone’s faces have been horrifyingly distorted.)

Grande shared several pictures of her creative costume and party decor on social media and thanked design planner Tricia Smith Brown for helping decorate her house. “Thank you @triciasmithbrown & team for transforming my home into the most stunning, haunted hotel,” she wrote in a since-deleted post. “I can’t believe how incredible everything and everyone was. thank you for making all my spooky, twisted, twilight zone dreams come true.”

The party also had a photo booth set up, where Grande’s celeb friend showed off their own Halloween get-ups. Frankie posted a few shots, captioning the images, “the family that scares together… ????.” He took a photo with Lovato, who commented on his post, “Love you!!!” Minaj also shared a black-and-white picture from the photo booth that included her friends and Grande, writing, “#BESTSTIES.”
