A ‘Wizards of Waverly Place’ Star Is Working as a Nurse on the Coronavirus Front Lines


You may remember Harper Finkle from Disney Channel’s Wizards of Waverly Place, Alex’s (Selena Gomez’s) smart best friend who’d often act as the witch’s conscience. It turns out the actor behind Harper, Jennifer Stone, also has a heart of gold. Stone, who grew up to become a nurse, is now preparing to save lives on the front lines of the coronavirus pandemic.

After appearing on the Wizards of Waverly Place series finale in 2012 and some additional projects, Stone took a break from acting to go to college. Right before this, she was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. “More than learning the semantics of beta-cells and autoimmune disorders, I wanted to understand my body and the impact of Type 1,” she said in a 2016 interview with Beyond Type 1, a nonprofit organization that provides resources to those living with diabetes. So she switched from her psychology major to nursing.

Last year she shared an Instagram post celebrating receiving her degree. “It’s been a long road of blood (mostly other people’s), sweat, and tears (those were mine), but I can finally call myself a nursing grad,” she wrote.

And now she says she’s “ready to join” those on the front lines of the fight against COVID-19.

“A very good friend of mine (@maiarawalsh ) pointed out to me that today is #worldhealthday. It is also the day I went from a volunteer, then a student nurse, and now an RN resident,” she wrote in a new post showing off her new resident badge.

She continued, “I just hope to live up to all of the amazing healthcare providers on the front lines now as I get ready to join them. #worldhealthorganization #supportnurses #westayhereforyou❤️pleasestayhomeforus #covid2020.”

After receiving a ton of positive feedback on her post (including some from WOWP fans, of course), Stone shared another image on Wednesday, April 8, encouraging her followers to wear nonsurgical masks like she does when she’s not working. “I’m wearing a mask to flatten the curve,” she wrote in the caption. “You can’t see me smiling out of gratitude for hitting 300,000 followers! Thank you guys for all of your love and support.”

Cardi B Made Her Triumphant Return to the Front Row in Head-to-Toe Leopard


Last season, Cardi B was the undisputed queen of New York Fashion Week, sitting front row at shows like Alexander Wang, Jeremy Scott, and Christian Siriano while schmoozing with Anna Wintour. This season, her presence was cut short likely thanks to the theatrical brawl she had with Nicki Minaj during a party at the Plaza Hotel.

Time, as they say, is the only healer, as Cardi made her triumphant and very visible return to the FROW at Dolce & Gabbana’s Spring 2019 runway show in Milan Sunday, wearing an outfit that consisted of a leopard-print trench, tall leopard boots, and oversized furry glasses, also in leopard. The look, according to an Instagram caption, was a nod to Fran Drescher, aka The Nanny, aka The Flashy Girl From Flushing.

“Bitch, get into these motherfucking glasses bitch!” Cardi says in another Insta she posted on her way to the D&G show, adding that the fur keeps her face so warm it’s like she has “a North Face,” calling the accessory “winter certified.”

Cardi also shared thoughts about her experience in Italy in general (“We out here in Milan drinking sparkling water and eating some spaghettis!” and “Man, these Italians got me fucked up giving me champagne in the afternoon. They must not know that I’m light!”) and her designer outfit (“Dolce & Gabbana want all my shmoney!”)

At the Dolce show—which featured a parade of icons including models Eva Herzigova, Carla Bruni, and Isabella Rossellini, as well as Italian actress Monica Bellucci—Cardi looked right at home nestled between One Direction’s Liam Payne and Stevie Wonder. From the look of it, she’s back to her normal self and having the most fun, despite the fact Minaj is also in Milan for Fashion Week. Will they cross paths in Paris, whose Fashion Week starts tomorrow? Will Cardi swap her sparkling water and spaghettis for red wine and baguettes? Will her Dolce look be upstaged by custom Chanel? The next 24 hours are critical.

North West Just Made Her Runway Debut—and Kim Kardashian West Was Front Row


Aunt Kendall, look out.

Over the weekend, Kim Kardashian West’s daughter, North, made her runway modeling debut during the L.O.L. Surprise fashion show in Los Angeles. In case you’re not familiar, L.O.L. Surprise is a line of toys with cute, fashionable characters that is super popular with the under-10 set. The show’s creative direction was overseen by stylist and longtime Kardashian friend, Simone Harouche.

All of the kiddos walked the runway in one-of-a-kind outfits that mirrored those worn by the dolls in the collection. North was “Thrilla”—and she looked absolutely adorable.

“North is completely obsessed with L.O.L. Surprise already, so when we found out there was going to be an L.O.L. Surprise BIGGER Surprise Fashion show, she absolutely had to be involved,” Kim said. “She loves to dress up like her favorite characters, so it was so exciting for her to actually become a real-life L.O.L. doll.”

While it may have been her first time on the catwalk, five-year-old North is no stranger to modeling. She’s currently starring in the #MeAndMyPeekaboo Fendi campaign with her mom and her grandma, Kris Jenner. “The idea was to expand the concept of family, as it’s part of our history, and we wanted other families of women,” Venturini Fendi told WWD about the campaign. “In the case of the Kardashians, they are all three of them very strong women, with strong personalities. It’s an iconic family, who is known for its appearance, but we wanted to bring more of an intimate side to the table.”

And the modeling genes definitely seem to run in the family. Look at that turn!

Seriously, it’s hard to handle this level of cuteness.

North wasn’t the only celebrity offspring in the show. Busy Philipp’s daughters Birdie and Cricket were also “dolled” up for the occasion.

Taylor Swift Had the Best Reaction When Two Super-Fans Got Engaged Right in Front of Her


Senate interns went into a tizzy over rumors of a Taylor Swift appearance this week, but even though it didn’t actually wind up happening, the singer actually has been spending plenty of quality time with her loyal band of Swifties. Those moments are always personal, but yesterday was especially intimate: T. Swift stopped in Philadelphia as part of her Reputation world tour, and during a meet-and-greet, a fan proposed to his girlfriend right in front of her.

It seems the groom-to-be dropped down on one knee right as he and his girlfriend were meeting Swift, sandwiching the star smack dab in the middle of the surprise. The singer then posted an image of the proposal on Instagram—and her face pretty much sums up the entire thing.

“They walk into the meet and greet and he says ‘We met 5 years ago at the Red Tour’ and then…..????????????? #thirdwheel,” she captioned the photo.

The couple followed up their special moment by tweeting that Swift had been an integral part of their relationship: “Our love story started at a RED TOUR show in Philadelphia back in 2013. Taylor Swift is a huge part of our relationship. Nothing would make this proposal more special than having her there!” the future groom wrote from an anonymous Twitter account. He had been secretly asking fans for advice on how to get Taylor’s attention and make her part of the engagement.

Looks like he got what he wanted: Taylor was right there, and he also completely surprised his now-fiancee, who looked absolutely thrilled. Afterward, the happy groom-to-be tweeted that Taylor “called me a baller and said that she is never surprised. She also said we were incredible and to go get married!!!! IS THIS REAL LIFE?!?!”

Maybe Taylor will play at the wedding? Just throwing it out there…

Harvey Weinstein Allegedly Masturbated in Front of a Female News Anchor, According to a New Report

When the New York Times broke a bombshell investigation on Thursday recounting decades of alleged sexual harassment by film producing mogul Harvey Weinstein, the blowback against him was immediate and strong. Democratic politicians he had contributed to ferried his donations to charities supporting women in power, women took to Twitter to share their own stories of sexual harassment (there were many), and Lena Dunham wrote a powerful response on Instagram. Now, one more woman is adding her voice to the group: A female TV reporter is alleging that Weinstein masturbated in front of her, and her account is horrifying.

According to HuffPo, which broke the story on Saturday, Weinstein was at Ciprani, an Italian restaurant in New York City, about a decade ago. There, he met a local cable news anchor, Lauren Sivan, who later rode with him, the restaurant’s owner, and others to a Cuban-themed club the restaurant owner was an investor in. Once there, Weinstein wanted to take her on a tour of the club’s restaurant. “Sivan said she reluctantly agreed and they went downstairs to the restaurant,” HuffPo reports. “Just before Sivan left, [a] friend told her that if she wasn’t back in 10 minutes, she would come to check on her.”

Once they got to the restaurant’s kitchen, Weinstein sent away a few employees who were cleaning up. He tried to kiss Sivan, who rejected him and told him she had a long-term boyfriend. His response, according to HuffPo, was “Well, can you just stand there and shut up.”

The only way for Sivan, who was blocked by kitchen equipment, to exit the situation was to push past him and get to the hallway. She says she “was trapped by Weinstein’s body and was intimidated.” Weinstein then allegedly undid his pants and started masturbating in front of her.

“Sivan said she was deeply shocked by Weinstein’s behavior and was frozen and didn’t know what to do or say,” reports HuffPo. “The incident in the vestibule didn’t last long. Sivan says Weinstein ejaculated quickly into a potted plant that was in the vestibule and then proceeded to zip up his pants, and they walked back into the kitchen.”

The aforementioned friend, who needed to remain anonymous for HuffPo‘s article due to employer restrictions on talking to the press, had been trying to get downstairs to Sivan since 10 minutes had been up. Initially blocked by a security guard, he eventually let her downstairs into the cafe. She met both as they were headed up from the cafe and says that Sivan told her what happened right after they left the club.

But it didn’t end there: Weinstein allegedly called Sivan the next day to say he’d had “a great time” and asked if she’d like to meet up with him once he was back from some travel. She took a hard pass, reminding him she had a boyfriend, and ended the call. In a passage that matches many women’s accounts of sexual harassment, “She remained quiet because she was in a long-term relationship and fearful of the power that Weinstein wielded in the media.”

When asked for comment, Weinstein’s publicist acknowledged receiving questions HuffPo had emailed over but offered no response; his lawyer, Lisa Bloom, also turned down requests for an interview. Weinstein has taken “indefinite leave” from his production company as of Friday, but we’ll keep you updated with more developments as they happen. Sivan’s account is the stuff of nightmares—and yet another reminder that men in positions of power have gotten away with abusing people for far too long.
