30 Affordable Accessories to Wear to a Music Festival

Festival fashion has become its own category of dressing. Stores have entire sections devoted to it. But it’s not necessarily something you want to invest a lot of money in, considering how much it cost to get out to the festival in the first place and especially thinking about the conditions you and your outfit will find yourselves in: out in the elements for hours and around thousands of people for multiple days on end. More often than not, everything you so carefully packed comes home with some sort of damage—or, worse, has disappeared altogether. When Ariana Grande is on the agenda, though, a missing scrunchie should be the last of your worries. Instead of shelling out a fortune for accessories that end up torn, muddied, or otherwise abandoned, stick with the affordable finishing touches in the following gallery that are just as festive. All the bucket hats, belt bags, and heart-shaped sunnies you could ever want—but also, wouldn’t feel hurt to lose—are ahead.

The Fyre Festival Caterer Who Lost Her Life Savings Has Received Over $160K in Donations

One of the most poignant moments in Netflix’s new documentary about the Fyre Festival is when Maryann Rolle, owner of the Exuma Point Resort, reveals she drained her savings to pay employees who prepared food for the now infamous event.

“I had 10 persons working directly with me just preparing food all day and all night, 24 hours,” Rolle says toward the end of the documentary. “I had to literally pay all those people. I am here as a Bahamian, and they stand in my face every day. I went through about $50,000 of my savings that I could have had for a rainy day. They just wiped it out and never looked back. Personally, I don’t even like to talk about the Fyre Festival. Just take it away and let me start a new beginning, ’cause they really hurt me. I am really hurt from that.”

Rolle is just one of many people affected by the Fyre Festival, which was founded by Billy McFarland and promised attendees a luxurious weekend in the Bahamas filled with music. Of course, this didn’t happen: Nothing originally advertised about the Fyre Festival came to fruition. There were no fancy accommodations or delicious food or Instagram models running around. It was all, essentially, a scam—and according to Netflix’s doc, many of the local Bahamians who worked on the festival were never compensated. This included Rolle.

But it looks like she’s finally receiving some justice. Rolle started a GoFundMe on January 14 seeking $123,000 to dig herself out of the hole caused by Fyre Fest—and people are stepping up to help. So far, Rolle has raised over $166,000 from more than 5,000 donors.

“As I make this plea, it’s hard to believe and embarrassing to admit that I was not paid…I was left in a big hole,” Rolle wrote in her GoFundMe post. “My life was changed forever, and my credit was ruined by Fyre Fest. My only resource today is to appeal for help.”

Netflix’s documentary clearly had an effect on people. “Just watched the Fyre Festival doc and I’ve also been to Exuma. As soon as I heard your story of spending $50k of your own money, I knew I wanted to donate somewhere,” one person wrote on the GoFundMe page. “My heart goes out to Maryann. I hope she can rebuild and put the horrible things behind her,” posted another.

If this doesn’t restore your faith in humanity, what will?

Long-Lost Twins Carla Bruni and Bella Hadid Finally Met at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival

Conspiracy theorists, take note: All those rumors that Bella Hadid and Carla Bruni are actually the same person have officially been debunked—and all it took was a selfie.

Online, the two supermodels have long been billed as doppelgängers. Their runway photos have been put side-by-side to show their remarkable similarities. For instance: Here’s an image of Bruni at a a Lacroix Haute Couture show in 1996, and one of Hadid at the most recent Fendi show in February.

Despite this Internet-favorite fan theory, we had never seen Hadid and Bruni photographed together. That all changed at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival, where their fateful meeting took place, all thanks to Naomi Campbell.

This meeting-of-the-models happened at Campbell’s annual Fashion For Relief gala on Sunday night, which raised funds for Save the Children and Time’s Up, according to Vanity Fair. The event has a fashion show component, which featured Hadid, Winnie Harlow, and Campbell herself, among other supermodels, per The Sun.

At some point of the evening, Hadid was able to meet her supermodel lookalike. Naturally, they documented it with a selfie.

Where one conspiracy theory ends, another begins: They may have shut down the rumor that they’re secretly the same person by posing for a photo together, but Bruni decided to (jokingly) start another one herself. “Do I have a hidden daughter? @bellahadid,” the Italian-French model captioned the selfie. The resemblance is uncanny.

2018 Festival Fashion: Denim Shorts Styled Four Ways by Different Models

Now that we’ve officially entered festival season (Coachella and Stagecoach, check and check) and are approaching summer, it’s time to revisit some of those clothing items that come back in your closet with the warm weather. We’re talking, specifically, about denim shorts: They’re impervious to the trend cycle and have likely been a part of your wardrobe for years—and yet they can still stump you when it comes to the styling. Do you just do the whole white T-shirt thing and call it a day, or do you go for a bustier? Should you go for a nineties vibe, or look to the aughts for inspiration?

Sometimes it helps to poll the experts—or some of the folks who wear cutoffs best. So, at a poolside brunch hosted by Levi’s during the first weekend of Coachella, we asked four of the most stylish models in the business the question everyone in attendance probably asked themselves that morning as they got dressed: How should I style a classic pair of denim shorts, now that it’s finally shorts season? And Bella Hadid, Joan Smalls, Hailey Baldwin, and Romee Strijd answered. Check out their tips—and answers inspired by them—ahead.

An Entire Music Festival Crowd Just Paid Their Birthday Respects to Beyoncé

Beyoncé Giselle Knowles Carter turns 36 today, which means the Beyhive is buzzing. There’s no word yet on how Bey, hubby Jay Z, or their three kids—Blue Ivy, Rumi and Sir—are officially celebrating her big day; however, we do know that last night, the family was in Philly. The occasion? Budweiser’s Made In America Festival, where Jay Z headlined a set.

Not missing an opportunity to celebrate, Jay Z told the crowd, “Shout out to Beyoncé. Beautiful Bey is in the house tonight. Happy birthday, my love!” before leading everyone in singing the chorus from Stevie Wonder’s “Happy Birthday.”

In video captured at the event, we can see Beyoncé smiling as the crowd properly celebrates the queen she is, with fellow former Destiny’s Child member Michelle Williams standing beside her. Earlier, Bey and Blue Ivy got their grooves on while Jay performed.

Beyoncé’s sister Solange was also a performer at the festival, which meant that basically the whole crew was together for what must be a very special birthday weekend.

Check it out:

Perhaps the person who most enjoyed the weekend, though, was Cardi B. The “Bodak Yellow” rapper got this picture out of the festival. In other words, she hath been anointed:

Beyoncé, a Houston native, made headlines earlier this week for her response to the destruction wrought by Hurricane Harvey. After initially posting her prayers for Texas on Instagram, the singer made a statement to the Houston Chronicle about her plans to help affected Houstonians through her BeyGOOD initiative.

Less importantly, she was also dragged into the sturm and drang over Taylor Swift’s new video.

Here’s hoping Beyoncé and her family have a wonderful weekend celebrating. Maybe we’ll get a party pic with Rumi and Sir’s inevitable new playmate, Serena Williams’ daughter? After all, if anyone’s going to have a power-clique birthday, it’s Queen B.
