All the Lyrics on Ariana Grande's New Album That Are (Probably) About Pete Davidson


Arianators, rejoice: Ariana Grande‘s fourth studio album, Sweetener, is here, and it’s 47 minutes of pure catchiness. To be clear, the album isn’t as overtly radio-friendly as Grande’s last album, Dangerous Woman; this time around, she swaps her signature glossy pop beats for something more experimental and R&B-inspired. The result, however, is just as fun and interesting. Immediate highlights off the album include “Breathin'” and “Goodnight n Go,” which samples Imogen Heap’s 2005 song with the same name.

Oh, and “Pete Davidson,” the minute-long interlude toward the end of Sweetener that’s an homage to Grande’s fiancé, Pete Davidson. The lyrics on the song are wildly romantic. “And I know you know that you’re my soulmate and all that,” she sings at one point. Davidson is obviously the subject here, but if you listen to the lyrics on Sweetener closely, he appears in other places, as well.

Of course, Grande recorded much of Sweetener before she started dating Davidson, so the more passionate lyrics may not have been inspired by him specifically. However, it’s safe to say that Grande now probably thinks of Davidson when she sings those words—which, in a way, makes them about him. Below, check out all the lovey-dovey lyrics on Sweetener that (probably) make Pete Davidson smile.

1. “Pete Davidson.” Because this song is literally named after Davidson, it’s safe to say all the lyrics are about him. “I thought you into my life, woah,” she sings at the top of the song. “Look at my mind, yeah. No better place or a time. Look how they align. Universe must have my back. Fell from the sky into my lap. And I know you know that you’re my soulmate and all that. I’m like ooh, ooh. My whole life got me ready for you, ooh, ooh. Got me happy, happy. I’ma be happy, happy, yeah.” She later adds, “Won’t get no crying from me, yeah,” before reiterating several times, “I’ma be happy, happy.”

2. “Blazed.'” Grande echoes similar thoughts about feeling lucky to have met someone on “Blazed,” which features Pharrell. “I can’t believe that you are here, I can’t believe it’s happening,” she sings. “What are the odds that you’d appear? The universe so vast to me. Seven billion is on the Earth. Could’ve been anywhere, but you’re here with me. Should I play lotto? What’s it worth? I must be on, so clear to me.” She adds during the pre-chorus, “Once I have you, I will never let you go.” In the second verse, Grande sings,”I don’t care who is listening, ’cause they be making fun of this on TV,” which could be a nod to how publicized her relationship with Davidson is.

3. “R.E.M.” Again, the lyrics on “R.E.M.” are a tad generic, but they do lend themselves nicely to Grande’s relationship with Davidson. “I watch them other girls when they come and bug you. But I felt like I knew you, so I just wanted to hug you,” she sings, which could be a reference to Davidson’s ex-girlfriends, Carly Aquilino and Cazzie David, who had very relatable reactions to his engagement to Grande. Later she sings, “I could buy you anything, but I cannot buy you.” In this month’s GQ, Davidson reveals Grande was the one who bought their $16 million apartment in New York City.

4. “Breathin'” This Max Martin-produced song is the most traditionally pop offering on Sweetener, and with it comes some predictably sappy lyrics that no-doubt make Grande think of Davidson. “Sometimes it’s hard to find, find my way up into the clouds,” she sings. “Tune it out, they can be so loud. You remind me of a time when things weren’t so complicated.”

5. “Borderline.” “You know I’m the wifey type, babe,” Grande sings on the pre-chorus of this Missy Elliott-assisted tune. And, well, she and Davidson are getting married.

6. “Goodnight n Go.” Most of the lyrics on this song come from Imogen Heap, but there are a few original words that seem to be Davidson-inspired. “Tell me why you gotta look at me that way,” she sings. “You know what it does to me.”

Pete Davidson Gushing About Ariana Grande's New Album *Sweetener* Is, Well, Sweet


With only four days left to go until the release of Ariana Grande‘s new album Sweetener, fans can barely contain their excitement, least of all her biggest fan, fiancé Pete Davidson. Unlike his fellow Arianators, Davidson has already gotten to listen to the entire album well ahead of its August 17 release date. This past weekend, he helped hype up his fiancée’s fans even more when she posted a video on Instagram in which he describes his favorite songs on Sweetener‘s track list.

Topping Davidson’s ranking is “God Is a Woman,” which he lauds in a string of hilarious, NSFW accolades (SFW version: “It slaps hard, dude!”). This should come as no surprise to anyone keeping an eye on the comments of Grande’s Instagram posts. When the song’s video dropped last month, Davidson wrote, “YUM YUM YUM,” followed by a series of heart emojis that perfectly coordinated with the video’s vibe. Next up on his list, obviously, is “My song, which is called ‘Pete,’ which is pretty sick ’cause that’s me,” he said. (Grande recently changed the track’s title from “Pete” to “Pete Davidson.”) Rounding out his top five are “R.E.M.”; “‘Sweetener,’ ’cause it’s just very happy and fun”; and “Better Off,” which he calls “sick,” before clarifying that, in fact, “they’re all sick.” In the background of the video, Grande can be heard giggling at Davidson’s sweet(ener) recs.

The Saturday Night Live star’s favorite songs from Sweetener seem to align pretty well with Grande’s. Last month, in an Instagram comment, she told a fan that “Better Off,” “Goodnight N Go,” and “Pete Davidson,” were especially meaningful tracks. “These three are really beautiful,” she wrote. “I know I said I don’t have favorites, but these and ‘R.E.M.’ are really up there.” Only a few more sleeps until Arianators get to hear those songs for themselves and find out if they agree with the couple’s rankings.

Pete Davidson Just Deleted All His Instagram Pics


UPDATE: July 23, 2018 at 5:13 P.M.— Pete Davidson took to Instagram Stories to explain why he deleted his posts. He says there’s nothing cryptic behind his decision and simply just wants to go off social media for a while.

Meanwhile, Ariana Grande disabled comments on her Instagram and tweeted this:

Pete Davidson just deleted every single one of his Instagram posts. That’s right—all those adoring snaps of Ariana Grande? Gone. All the photographic evidence of his platinum blond phase? Lost forever—at least to us. As of Monday, July 23, 2018, the only thing that’s left on the comedian’s account is a video on his Story of Machine Gun Kelly having “arrived in Syracuse.” Otherwise, the entire page is blank.

It’s unclear why exactly Davidson decided to wipe his Instagram. The unexplained decision does, however, come just a day after he received quite a bit of criticism from some of Grande’s fans who misinterpreted a comment he left on one of her posts. As Teen Vogue reported, he commented “omg what a cutie” under a photo of Grande and her late grandfather, which she’d posted on the fourth anniversary of his death, prompting angry comments aplenty. Davidson clarified his intentions in a follow-up post, writing, “Are you guys all insane? I was talking about how cute her grandpa is. What’s wrong with that? You guys will really look for anything to attack people. It’s sad.”

This isn’t the only online hate that Davidson has received recently. Last week he was called “disrespectful” for giving the FDNY pendant of his late father, who was killed in the September 11, 2001, terrorist attack, to his fiancée (as is, obviously, his right). As if that weren’t enough, the poor guy was bashed again when another commenter called him out, thinking he had given the same gift to his ex Cazzie David. “Actually, I didn’t give that to my ex,” he replied. “Yes, she had one but it was a replica. I had a bunch of replicas made. My sister and grandpa also have one. The one that Ari has is the one my dad actually died in and the one he wore his entire career and the one I’ve worn for over 17 years. I’ve actually never taken it off other than for SNL or work. So it means a lot to me. Hope this helps. Please learn to be nicer and not to assume the worst in people. It’s a terrible way to live. Much love.”

It looks like people didn’t take his advice to heart.

Pete Davidson Can Do Whatever He Wants With His Late Father's Pendant


There are a few things happening in pop culture right now that don’t make any sense. Becca Kufrin booted perfect Wills Reid from The Bachelorette but kept Garrett Yrigoyen and his problematic Instagram posts. The Rugrats is receiving an unnecessary reboot. Taylor Swift’s “Look What You Made Me Do” video didn’t receive any major nominations at the 2018 MTV VMAs. Everything is out of sorts, which might explain why some people are having inexplicably irate reactions to the fact that Pete Davidson’s fiancée, Ariana Grande, is wearing his late father’s FDNY badge number around her neck.

A brief explainer for those who don’t follow everything Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson do: Davidson’s father was a firefighter who died during 9/11, and his badge number was 8418. Davidson eventually had that number tattooed on his arm (and, reportedly, Grande has it on her left ankle). He also has several FDNY pendants with that number inscribed, and he posted a photo of Grande wearing one of them to Instagram over the weekend. One commenter said it was “disrespectful” that Grande had on the pendant, writing to Davidson, “No girl should ever wear your dads [sic] chain.”

Davidson was quick to hit back, though. “For [your] information that’s not just some girl, that’s my fiancé [sic],” he wrote in response to the commenter. “She’s the greatest person I know. I gave it to her because she has my heart and that is the most precious thing I own. My dad would be so happy and love her so much.” Grande stood behind the SNL comedian, writing herself, “I love you more than anything.”

But the trolling didn’t stop there. Another commenter wrongfully assumed the pendant Grande’s wearing is the one Davidson also gave his ex-girlfriend, Cazzie David, which led to an entirely separate clap-back.

“It’s so ridiculous that he gave it to his ex and said the same thing…SMH,” the person wrote, to which Davidson replied, “Actually, I didn’t give that to my ex. Yes, she had one but it was a replica. I had a bunch of replicas made. My sister and grandpa also have one. The one that Ari has is the one my dad actually died in and the one he wore his entire career and the one I’ve worn for over 17 years. I’ve actually never taken it off other than for SNL or work. Here’s the thing: There are a lot of topics people care about that I don’t (to name a few: football, kale, metal music, and hiking). Even still, though, I understand why people are invested in them. Football is an American institution, and kale is, like, a superfood or some shit. I can even get on board with why people enjoy hiking! I don’t, however, understand why people are so invested in what Davidson does with his late father’s 9/11 pendant. It’s pretty ridiculous he’s had to explain himself not just once but twice.

This isn’t coming from a place of celebrity naïveté, either. Obviously, Davidson is a public figure and should expect a decent amount of commentary about his life and choices. Is that OK? No, but it’s part of the world—and news cycle—we live in. I’m just having difficulty figuring out why people are latching onto this specific story. What Davidson went through with his father is beyond traumatic. Unless you’ve experienced something similar, it’s impossible to comprehend. If Grande wearing the pendant is helpful to Davidson in some way, which it clearly is, then why is that so egregious or terrible? Shouldn’t he be able to honor his father in whichever way he sees fit? And shouldn’t people (strangers, specifically) respect that?

More important, we’re focusing all our attention on this when we could be talking about the fact Ariana Grande saved pop music for the umpteenth time with “God Is a Woman.” It’s a bop. Stream it now, and let Pete Davidson do whatever he damn well pleases with this pendant.

Pete Davidson Is Now Blond, Which May Have Nothing or Everything to Do With Ariana Grande


Over the weekend, Pete Davidson took some serious beauty inspiration from his fiancée, Ariana Grande, and dyed his hair platinum blond.

The Saturday Night Live star and future Mr. Ariana Grande shared a photo to his Instagram feed on Sunday night (July 1) showing the back of a person’s head with bleached hair, with the caption “big time adolescence.” At first, it was unclear who the mystery head belonged to, but Davidson later shared another photo of himself that made it very clear that he did, in fact, follow in Ariana’s footsteps and go blond for summer.

Though Ariana is technically back to brunette, she sent shockwaves through the beauty world a few months ago when she showed off platinum blond strands in the images accompanying her upcoming album, Sweetener, so it’s not a huge stretch to wonder if Pete was inspired by her own beauty transformation.

In addition to changing up his hair color, Pete seems to be actively trying to up his style game.. He recently hired Queer Eye‘s Tan France to help him with his wardrobe, so maybe his new look is a part of an even more major makeover that he’ll be rolling out in the next few months.

It seems like Pete and Ariana had a seriously busy — and beauty-filled — weekend. In addition to the hair-color update, the engaged couple also spent time at their local Sephora, hiding from the paparazzi in the Benefit] aisle. They also found time to decorate their new, $16 million apartment (which, it’s worth mentioning, has its own IMAX theater), and post cute photos and videos on each other’s Instagram Stories.

Ariana Grande's Birthday Featured So Many Cakes and Tributes From Pete Davidson


Ariana Grande‘s birthday is today (June 26), but she appeared to celebrate it last night with a fun dinner featuring no less than 2,000 cakes. OK, that might be an exaggeration, but there were a ton of cakes. And cupcakes! All with childhood Ariana’s face on them.

It’s unclear who, if anyone, ate these cakes—I definitely would’ve if I was there—but Ariana’s friends in attendance sure did Instagram about them multiple times throughout the evening. In fact, most of the #ArianaGrandeBirthday content on the Internet right now is of these cakes. Were these magic cakes? Why were people so enamored by them? To be honest, though, “cake” isn’t a terrible theme for a party. (It’s basically the theme of my life.)

Let’s kick things off with Frankie Grande, Ariana’s older brother, who posted this Boomerang of Grande blowing the candle off one cake while standing next to a dozen or so cupcakes.

Thankfully, though, Ariana’s party featured more than just cake pics. It also included a healthy dose of restaurant dancing, which was shared to social media too. The singalong to the Spice Girls’ seminal classic “Wannabe” just feels right.

And, of course, Grande’s confirmed (!!!) fiancé Pete Davidson got in on the action. He’s been posting up a storm about Grande but wrote three things in particular for her birthday. Two were Instagram posts: “Happy birthday to the most precious angel on earth! you’re my favorite person that ever existed 🙂 i love you sm,” he wrote for one. “One more for the queen. words can’t express what a real fucking treasure this one is,” he posted in the other. The last was just a comment he wrote on one of Grande’s photos: “OMG HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!”

It’s no shocker Pete went all out for this occasion, either. He and Grande got engaged after just a few weeks of dating. What did you expect?! They go big or they go home. I just hope they save me a slice of cake.
