Kylie Cosmetics Is Officially Coming to Ulta Beauty


Despite the fact that fans have rarely been able to actually test—or even see—Kylie Jenner’s makeup line in person, it hasn’t deterred shoppers from buying lip kits online like crazy. Really, really crazy. We’re talking dropping $22,775 an hour on makeup kind of crazy. But finally, after nearly two years of waiting, shopping for Kylie Cosmetics is about to become dangerously easier. On November 17, the brand is officially coming to every Ulta Beauty store, just in time for the holiday shopping season.

Jenner first announced the news on Twitter back in August, which Ulta also confirmed on Instagram. Fans were understandably freaking out (Jenner’s tweet racked up nearly 20,000 likes in under an hour) and have been waiting for more details ever since.

“I slipped on the wood floors as i ran to my mom to tell her that kylie cosmetics was coming to ulta. im excited,” shared one user. “Take my money now, thanks,” wrote another. Yet another commenter spilled some hilariously real tea on the reality of the announcement: “Kylie just made her last $100 million from this tweet,” they wrote, referring to the recent Forbes estimation that Jenner is only $100 million away from being the youngest “self-made” billionaire ever.

Considering that Kylie Cosmetics is currently estimated to be worth $900 million after less than two years in existence, it’s a huge get for Ulta. It’s the first time Kylie Cosmetics will be available anywhere IRL aside from her own rare pop-up shops. According to The Cut, Ulta’s stock has already gone up since the announcement and hit a 52-week high.

Although it’s still unclear exactly which products will be in stores, you better start getting your wish list ready. As anyone who remembers the product sell-outs and site crashes of the brand’s early days (#tbt to sitting at your computer with your clicking fingers ready every time a new lip kit dropped), it’s clear the demand will only become greater from here.

The Best Deals From the It Cosmetics Friends and Family Sale


Foundation is something I have a hard time finding myself getting hyped about. Shopping for it is laborious and next-to-near impossible to do online. And its purpose by nature is to look like nothing. I figure if I’m going to invest my time and energy (not to mention money) on anything, I’d rather it be skin care, so I can skip the step entirely and just get to having great skin.

The unfortunate reality is that no combination of moisturizers and acids has completely gotten rid of my redness, even when my skin is at its best. So, foundation it is! But earlier this year, my outlook on foundation changed entirely when It Cosmetics came out with Bye Bye Foundation. Technically speaking, the brand calls it a “full-coverage moisturizer,” because it has both skin care ingredients and the elusive power of looking exactly like your skin but better.

If that sounds familiar, it’s because the formula is wildly similar to It’s beloved CC Cream—called Your Skin But Better. In fact, the majority of their ingredients are identical. Both contain SPF 50+ broad spectrum sunscreen, hyaluronic acid (to plump and hydrate your skin), peptides, and antioxidants. But where Bye Bye Foundation differs is in the coverage and its ability to last, truly, all day long.

I’ve found that most tinted moisturizers or CC creams tend to fade out during the day or go on super sheer, whereas Bye Bye coats your skin in a non-cakey layer of makeup that sinks in to look unbelievably natural. It’s a little more matte than the It CC Cream, but still looks dewy and fresh. Beyond that, it’s easy to apply—most mornings I dab it on with Beautyblender in the backseat of an Uber. Thirty seconds and done.

Shade-wise it isn’t totally expansive—it’s got three light, three medium, three tan, and three dark shades; something that was met with criticism early on—but the brand has plans to add more in the future.

Anyway, I say all this because It Cosmetics is having it’s Friends and Family Sale right now (ending tomorrow, November 3), and everything is 25 percent off if you spend $30 or more. Seeing that Bye Bye Foundation is originally $40—and this sale marks it down by a fourth of the price—it’d be a crime not to alert the public. Even though I’ve got one foundation at my desk, another in my makeup bag, and one on my vanity, I’ll still be buying two more tubes. It really is just that good.

Benefit Cosmetics Brow Contour Pro Review: How to Get Full Brows


When will nineties nostalgia peak? The decade is being revived in everything from fashion (see the return of stretchy Steve Maddens) to TV (Sabrina, Buffy, and Charmed are all getting reboots) to hair (scrunchies!)—and now they’re coming for our brows.

Sorry, is that triggering? Let me backtrack: You remember those clicky pens all the cool kids had in school? You’d fidget all of homeroom by pushing down a clicker to change the color of your pen? Well, Benefit Cosmetics is resurrecting them, but instead as a brow pen to more easily help you get that perfect, full-looking Insta brow. Divisively skinny brows aren’t back. Yet anyway. If they do return, you’ve got Rihanna to blame.

Available at Sephora starting today, the Benefit Cosmetics Brow Contour Pro comes in five shade ranges, each comprising four products in one tool: a lighter and a deeper filler shade, a highlighter, and an edge definer. The idea behind it is based off the brow contouring or “carving” technique most Instagrammers use to get that ultra-precise, ultra-thick brow. But instead of needing to deal with multiple brushes, products, and concealer, you can achieve with a single pen.

Brand reps recommend choosing your perfect color based on the definer shade, which should be just slightly lighter than your skin tone. The key is to start off tracing the shape of your brow from corner to tail with the light shade, fill, then add dimension with the darker shade. A little goes a long way (and the formula literally lasts all day), so you don’t want to go too heavy. Personally, I’d fill in a couple strokes and then blend in the color with a spoolie. Next it’s definer time. This is where the “carving” technique comes in: this more or less involves tracing directly under your brow with the definer shade to sharpen the line. Last up: the highlighter, which you want to put just under the arch to make the shape appear more sculpted.

Benefit’s already got a strong knack for brows. Its Gimme Brow gel has long topped the best-seller charts in the brow category (far before Boy Brow was thing), while you’d be hard-pressed not to find one its pencils in most makeup pros’ kits. What makes this tool so interesting, though, is that its’ consistency is neither a marker, gel, nor pencil. Rather, the product goes on like a pomade that’s meant to be blended.

Navigating the pen isn’t quite as intuitive as writing with them was. Despite being lightweight, it feels a little bit clunky to trace with at first, and I wish it came with a built-in spoolie. But its ease for travel more than makes up for it, and getting the motions down is pretty easy after a few initial test runs. Plus, it’s fun as hell to click and twist all day. What can I say? I’m a sucker for nostalgia.

Becca Cosmetics Made a Highlighter Inspired by the Royal Wedding


Just because you didn’t score an invite to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal wedding on May 19 doesn’t mean you can’t dress like it. And now, there’s a new product out there that will make for the perfect compliment to the fascinator you’ve been holding onto in anticipation.

Becca Cosmetics’ newest highlighter, called “Royal Glow,” promises exactly what the implies: a glow worthy of a royal. The shimmery pressed powder comes in a warm golden honey shade infused with pink pearl. The best part, though, is that the center of the palette is stamped with a crown, and looking at that every time you put on your makeup can be considered a consolation prize for not being able to catching a glimpse of Markle’s tiara IRL.

Kris Jenner's Momager Makeup Collection for Kylie Cosmetics Is Everything


Social media comes as naturally to the Kardashian-Jenners as contouring, which is why when Kylie Jenner‘s Instagram for Kylie Cosmetics got hacked, it wasn’t random. Instead, it was Kris Jenner’s handiwork, as she later revealed in a series of cryptic posts. The occasion? Jenner was celebrating her first collaboration with Kylie Cosmetics, timed to Mother’s Day.

Because the Kardashian-Jenners don’t do anything small, the matriarch went as far as to change the Instagram handle of @kyliecosmetics to @kriscosmetics. Her first post on the page was a static screen showing Kylie’s name before flashing “hacking…” “Hi dolls,” Jenner wrote in the caption, “Ready for me to takeover? guess who.. ?” Once the next video hit, though, it was immediately apparent who was behind it. Who else would step out of a Rolls-Royce to walk up to a gold throne with a black-and-white checkerboard background (just like the floors in Jenner’s home famously shown on Keeping Up With the Kardashians).

“Hey guys.. it’s me! and oh, my collection drops on Mother’s Day,” reads the caption, in a stroke of the marketing savvy Jenner has become known for.

Fittingly, her collaboration for Kylie Cosmetics includes a “Momager” lip collection, which Jenner explained as “eight minis which are fabulous… Mattes, liquids, velvets!” She even swatched them, set to her son-in-law Kanye West’s 2005 classic “Gold Digger”—perhaps reassuring the world that there’s no lost love in the wake of his recent Twitter sprees. “My first time swatching,” she commented in Instagram stories, sharing the color “Too Blessed.” “I’m using Kylie’s arm.”

It’s “Middle Finger,” a bright red, however, that’s Jenner’s favorite, as she revealed.

It may be the eyeshadow palette, though, that has the best names. The metallic grouping includes shades like “I Love Myself,” “Vodka Tonic,” “Haters,” “Payback’s a B-tch,” and “I’m Watching You.” Not to mention that the case includes the words “I have one word for tonight: Vodka.”

As if that wasn’t extra enough, Jenner also created a face palette, which, of course, features her face emblazoned across it. The most Kris Jenner thing of all about the Momager collection has to be the quote she printed on the back of her face palette, a reference to a viral moment early on in Keeping Up With the Kardashians when, at Kim’s Playboy shoot, she told her daughter, “You’re doing amazing, sweetie.” Is it any wonder Kylie recently quoted the Mean Girls line “I’m Not a Regular Mom, I’m a Cool Mom?” The apple doesn’t fall far from the Jenner.
