Disney's Grilled Cheese Recipe Is Exactly the Comfort Food You Need Right Now

Disney parks are closed for the foreseeable future, but its kitchens are still spreading magic—this time with its hallmark recipe for extra-special grilled cheese, usually served at Woody’s Lunch Box at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

It’s the latest how-to in a series of beloved (and once secret) recipes that has circulated over the past few weeks, including Dole Whip, churros, and cookie fries.

And this one couldn’t come at a better time, because what sounds better than curling up on the couch with an ooey-gooey grilled cheese (tomato soup on the side) to watch a Disney classic from your youth? And if you’re thinking, “Duh, I know how to make a grilled cheese” the crew at Disney has some special hacks for you to make it even cheesier.

Here’s the recipe, which serves four people and includes the special spreads that make this sandwich unlike your average grilled cheese.

Ingredients:

Cream Cheese Spread

Garlic Spread

Grilled Three-Cheese Sandwich

Instructions:

For Cream Cheese Spread:

Combine cream cheese, Double Gloucester or cheddar, heavy cream, and salt in food processor. Blend until smooth. Set aside.

For Garlic Spread:

Combine mayonnaise, garlic, and salt in small bowl and stir until blended. Set aside.

For Grilled Three-Cheese Sandwich:

  1. Lay out artisan bread slices on parchment paper or large cutting board.
  2. Place 2 slices of cheddar on 4 of the bread slices. Place 2 slices of provolone on remaining bread slices.
  3. Equally spoon cream cheese spread on slices with provolone. Gently smooth cream cheese spread over each slice.
  4. Press cheddar side and provolone side together.
  5. Heat a large skillet over medium heat for 5 minutes, until hot.
  6. Brush both sides of the sandwiches with garlic spread.
  7. Grill sandwiches for 2 minutes on each side, until cheese is melted and bread is golden brown.

And just like that, you have a perfect meal.

And Comfort Is a New Affordable Plus-Size Clothing Brand for Minimalists

And Comfort was born out of a deeply personal experience: Karine Hsu wanted to make clothes her mom could wear, after seeing the lack of options for her in the mainstream market. After working with several plus-size fashion brands at a financial firm in San Francisco, she realized the lack of quality clothing in extended sizes affected more than just her mother. So, she and her friend Jeffrey Zhao joined forces to address this glaring hole in the retail space.

Hsu is the founder and CEO of And Comfort, while Zhao serves as its creative director and co-founder. The brand, which launches today, offers a wonderfully minimalist line-up of wardrobe staples that focus on quality, clean design and inclusive sizing. There are four pieces at launch: a mandarin collar tunic, a classic tee, an apron dress, and a midi-length wrap skirt. All are available in sizes 10 through 28, and are priced between $45 and $140.

Over the past few years, there have been companies leaning into specific niches in the plus-size fashion space: Premme delivers on trend-driven pieces, while Universal Standard offers luxe everyday essentials. And Comfort enters the market with a commitment to using high-end fabrics and a thorough fit process.

“It took a lot of time to source our fabrics—which we found in China—and it took time to create them as well,” says Hsu, who was adamant about using premium materials, like organic cotton poplin and pima cotton. “We worked hard on it, and as we source fabrics for future pieces, we’re committed to using cotton and even Tencel or other sustainable fabrics that we can find.” The problem with cotton, they found, was its lack of stretch; the solution was to weave in elastane to achieve the desired level of comfort without compromising the integrity of the material.

Hsu and Zhao then fit-tested each And Comfort style on 18 different women—some influencers, some people that Hsu had met at plus-size fashion conferences—across the plus-size spectrum for feedback. She recalls the models marveling at the pieces’ wearability: “They would put on the garment, smile, and say, ‘[Oh my God], this fits so well,’—it was one of the most rewarding experiences I’ve had. The response has been overwhelmingly positive so far.”

The And Comfort team specifically wanted to see the pieces on a range of body shapes and sizes, as opposed to following the industry-wide practice of only fitting on a size 16 model, at this stage of the design process. This community-driven approach allowed Hsu and Zhao to really consider and problem-solve every issue, like adding adding more fabric to prevent the button-down from gaping or creating side vents on the tunic to accommodate different people.

And Comfort launches with four pieces, but plans to roll out one or two new styles every month. (Expect more dresses in the next drop; for fall, sweaters and coats.) As for the future of the brand, Hsu says it hopes to offer sizes beyond 28.

Oh, and Hsu’s mom—really, the inspiration behind this all—is into the brand’s offerings.

“My mom grew up in Taiwan, so she has a more minimalist, Asian-inspired style, which has been hard for her to find in her size—she’s very excited about the pieces we’re making,” says Hsu. “I believe every woman deserves access to fashion, no matter their size, and we hope to become the go-to place for minimalist plus-size essentials.”

Watch Joe Biden Comfort a Crying Meghan McCain Over Father's Cancer Diagnosis

Since John McCain announced that he was diagnosed with glioblastoma brain cancer earlier this year, many politicians have rallied around the senator from Arizona and wished him a speedy recovery, including Joe Biden. The former vice president knows firsthand how difficult it can be to watch a family member suffer from cancer; his son Beau died in 2015, also from glioblastoma.

During a visit to The View on Wednesday to promote his new memoir, Promise Me, Dad, which centers around Beau’s cancer fight, Biden comforted John’s daughter and View co-host Meghan McCain in a very emotional moment. “I think about Beau almost every day, and I was told that this doesn’t get easier,” McCain said, through tears. Biden then sat beside her, holding her hand to offer her support and words of reassurance. “One of the things that gave Beau courage was John. Your dad took care of my Beau,” said Biden. He continued, “If anyone can make it, your dad [can].” Biden, who has devoted his time since leaving office to aiding cancer research, listed many promising medical discoveries that scientists are testing currently and offered a bit of scientific hope for anyone going through the same devastation as the McCain family.

Biden also touched on the special relationship he has with John McCain. “Her dad is one of my best friends,” he said. “We’re like two brothers who were somehow raised by different fathers or something, because of our points of view.” He even recalled a time that McCain told him to “get the hell off” the ticket in 2008. John McCain reacted to the moment on social media, tweeting a message to the Bidens. “Thank you @JoeBiden & the entire Biden family for serving as an example & source of strength for my own family,” he wrote.

In a confusing and often troubling current political climate, it’s a very rare and personal moment between two families, on opposite sides of the aisle, coming together.
