Target Is Making Ugly Holiday Sweater Dresses Now, and They're a Sight to Behold

The wackiest display of the holiday cheer isn’t happening on the Hallmark Channel or Netflix’s original movie selection this year. Rather, you can find it in an aisle of your local Target. You know ugly sweaters are A Thing—but in 2018 the retailer is leveling up, offering a line of ugly sweaterdresses just in time for holiday parties. And they’re really something.

Target’s collection of festive knits has everything: a toy soldier, a snowman’s face, and even a two-tone blue menorah—all rendered into long-sleeve, short-skirted silhouettes. Each one takes the charm of an ugly holiday sweater and multiplies it by 10, just by having that much more room to show your seasonal spirit. And because they’re all under $50, you can justify onetime usage (or buying multiples, because why not?).

If your office, friend group, or family is having an ugly-holiday-sweater competition, these dresses are likely to win first place. Check out Target’s new riff on a seasonal favorite, ahead.

Behold Cardi B Using a Dinglehopper to Brush Her Hair

Life isn’t often the stuff of Disney movies, but you can bet that doesn’t stop Cardi B. Before taking the stage at a Drake and Migos show in L.A. this week, Cardi made time to zhuzh her thigh-length wig. Without a brush on hand, she grabbed the next best thing: A plastic fork. And just like that, dreams of a Cardi-as-Ariel crossover took the internet by storm. If you’ve seen the Little Mermaid, you know the iconic scene (Ariel grabs a fork and combs it through her long, red hair). So this was a dinglehopper moment for the ages, a case of fantasy inspiring reality in the weirdest beauty sitch to hit in a minute. Then again, it’s Cardi B, so expect the unexpected.

Cardi’s no stranger to the long, long wig look, so she must know that tangles are no laughing matter. Rather than risk it, she expertly pulled the fork through her hair. On Instagram, she captioned the shot, “When you don’t have a brush so you use a fork.” Her wig master, Tokyo Styles, regrammed the video and called out the Little Mermaid comparison: “When all fails use the fork aka dinglehopper …… still laid.”

He’s not wrong—the fork left Cardi’s hair looking smooth and sleek.

It might be unconventional, but waist-length hair, and Cardi, don’t live by anyone’s rules. More importantly, the clip demonstrates how much the world needs to see Cardi as Ariel. Rumor has it that Lady Gaga is in the running for Ursula’s role in the live action Little Mermaid reboot, and the only thing that could be better is if Cardi joins the ensemble. Drake could even play Flounder. A girl can dream.

Paris Hilton's $2 Million Engagement Ring Is a Sight to Behold

Just a few days ago, heiress-turned-reality-star-turned-DJ-turned-perfumer Paris Hilton announced that Chris Zylka had proposed, and that she “said Yas.” You hardly needed Instagram’s zoom feature to get a look at the engagement ring: It’s as sparkly and over-the-top as Hilton’s most iconic fashion. (We’re talking about the woman who pioneered the silver party dress and bedazzled sweatsuits in the early-aughts, after all.) Still, Hilton has been making sure we give the diamond ring the attention it deserves by posting multiple shots of it on social media.

According to People, Hilton’s engagement ring is valued at nearly $2 million, and features a 20-carat pear-shaped diamond. (For comparison: The cushion-cut diamond ring Kanye West gave Kim Kardashian in 2013, which is also estimated to be worth $2 million, was 15 carats.) The center stone is set in a platinum band decked with an additional two carats of diamonds.

Hilton’s new fiancé helped celebrity jeweler Michael Green design the ring, per People, and it came together in only two days. The pear-shaped diamond was Zylka’s idea, inspired by another massive rock in the Hilton family: a ring worn by Paris’s mother.

“The ring was so gorgeous and sparkling,” Hilton told People after announcing the engagement. “I was shaking as I put it on. It is the most beautiful ring that I have ever seen!”

Sentimental though the design may be, it’s also just plain attention-getting. And true to most OTT celebrity engagement rings, Twitter users had a lot of thoughts concerning Hilton’s new bling. As one tweet put it,”Paris Hilton’s engagement ring is bigger and brighter than my future.” (Which, same.)

If Hilton’s sparkler reminds you of rapper Cardi B.’s similarly massive engagement ring, you’re not alone. It’s true that both jewels are large, teardrop-shaped, and beyond sparkly. But Paris had pretty much the best response to all comparisons (and to any accusations of copying): “Our future hubby’s obviously both have amazing & similar taste,” she tweeted in reply to a side-by-side edit of their two rings.

“#RingGoals” definitely applies, Paris—even if it calls for fingerless gloves in the snow.
