Blake Lively Wears Red Hair With Pin-Up Bangs on the Set of Her New Movie

Blake Lively is nothing if not committed to switching up her beauty looks for a movie role. The latest example comes courtesy of her upcoming project The Rhythm Section, which is currently filming. In it, she plays Stephanie Patrick, a woman who loses her family in a plane crash—and when she finds out that the crash may not have been an accident, she becomes an undercover assassin to track the culprits down. Since it started filming, we’ve caught her in no fewer than three completely different looks; this latest one, which features Blake in long red hair and pin-up-like baby bangs, looks so different we did a major double-take.

It wasn’t that long ago—just back in November—that photos of her on set emerged showing a Blake we honestly didn’t recognize at first: in a short, shaggy wig with a grown-out, brassy dye job that was a far cry from the rather glam Blake of the Long Golden Waves we normally see in red carpet and paparazzi pics. And then, in early December, Blake posted an Instagram of herself in a jet-black pixie cut.

But with the new year comes another new Blake—though, strictly speaking, the look is a first for the film only. After all, we’ve seen Blake with long red hair before: Remember her mermaid-like copper waves in 2011? Of course, this is a different kind of red (golden-red, to be precise). And check out that retro fringe!

We can’t wait to see what other looks this role throws our way—and to see them all together when the film finally comes out next February.

Bella Hadid's Shaggy New Bangs Look Beyond Cool

To anyone else, the Hadid lifestyle would seem incredibly exhausting. Even just following Bella Hadid on social media is like a never-ending game of “Where In the World Is Carmen Sandiego,” if Carmen had ditched the hat and taken up modeling instead. But for Bella, first came modeling, and second came changing up her look every two seconds—a tiring combo for anyone. Yet when it brings along bangs like the set she just hit London with, the excitement’s got to balance out the jet lag.

Unlike every celebrity showing up on the scene with a fresh set of curtain bangs (can’t blame ’em, they’re beautiful), Bella went her own way. The result is a fringe that doesn’t fit in any real category: While they get longer on the sides to blend into the Mafia-type lob she keeps coming back to, the bangs are decidedly choppy across Bella’s forehead—a departure from the full, straight bangs she wore to the CFDA awards this summer.

We’re betting that they’re clip-ins, but given that Bella’s experimented with a similar look before, it might be getting closer to sticking around for good. And instead of looking like she took a pair of scissors to her hair in the bathroom à la Kourtney Kardashian—the danger you risk with any choppy bangs—of course they come off shaggy and cool.

If the phrase “shaggy and cool” rings a bell, it might be because that’s the same vibe we’re getting from Selena Gomez these days. Here’s Selena’s cut, for comparison:

They’re not exactly the same, but Selena’s new bangs definitely look similar. Both cuts share that choppy, piece-y texture, along with tons of volume at their roots. Is it the new blunt cut? The new curtain bangs? The bar is high; only time will tell.

Selena Gomez Just Got This Winter's Coolest Bangs

Some people take their hair changes slow, and for that, no one can blame them. Anyone who goes in for a major transformation knows, it takes a second (or many weeks) to adjust to your new self. And then there are the people who adapt like the wind and are always raring to take on new lengths, colors, and styles. Although, to be fair, that’s much easier when you have celebrity hairstylists on hand, and it’s pretty much assured that nothing’s going to turn out badly. C’est la vie, Selena Gomez; just weeks after showing up platinum blond, she just got the coolest new bangs.

You might have heard: Curtain bangs are on the rise. It’s for good reason, too, because the style looks great on hair textures from straight to super curly. They’ve got that throwback ’60s chic vibe, come to life for 2017. And with Pinterest searches for the style up 600 percent, the Jane Birkin pic you can’t scroll Pinterest without seeing is now invading IRL. A few weeks ago, Chrissy Teigen picked up the style, and now Selena’s gotten similar—which she’s already styling in different ways.

They’re either the most convincing clip-in bangs in the world, dyed to match Selena’s roots exactly, or her real hair (we’re leaning towards that one).

The final result is a wispy, thinned-out fringe, a more extreme version of the ones she got last summer. As for her color? After spending nine hours in the salon chair to get her initial platinum, she told E! News it isn’t “going anywhere.” Understandably so; we also wouldn’t want to sit in the chair for a long, long time.

Chrissy Teigen Just Got the Coolest New Bangs

When you’re Chrissy Teigen, you’ve always got a lot to be thankful for, but the past two weeks have been especially stellar for everyone’s favorite imaginary best friend. She baked for the Kardashians (after landing an exclusive invite to Kim’s fragrance launch/baby shower); landed a spot at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show (even if fake); and she just announced that she’s welcoming a huge new addition to her life—bangs. Kidding, she’s having a baby! But we’ve covered that already, and she really did get bangs, so let’s get on to this other big chapter for her.

Teigen, along with her hairstylist Jen Atkin, posted a video to Instagram last night of her cut. And because the internet has a strange fascination with speculating whether a celebrity’s hair change is “real” or not, the two made it abundantly clear. “It’s really my hair; I love it,” Chrissy says in the clip as Jen tugs at the top of her head, proving that this is, in fact, the actual hair on her head, chopped into the coolest brow-grazing bangs we’ve seen this season.

Take a look.

Another great hallmark of this cut are the layered ends, which are actually quite opposite from the blunt cuts Atkin’s given every celebrity to cross her scissors this year. Not that it’d be surprising for Teigen to be paving the way for a new trend, especially given the timing with baby number two. She set off a chain reaction back in early 2016 when she got a lob, which also happened to be when she was carrying Luna. And that cut is still going strong.

Of course, the gospel of pregnancy hair—in all its glorious, shiny abundance—is no secret. Thanks to the shift in hormones that occurs, you shed less hair over the course of nine months, leaving your strands looking thicker and fuller than usual. Clearly, Chrissy knows how to take advantage of it.

So, to the 60 percent who told her not to get bangs earlier this week, may Twitter forgive your sins. And to Chrissy, congratulations, your new addition is beautiful. I’ll keep my eye out for an invite to its shower. We’re doing that now for big beauty arrivals, too, right?

Ariana Grande Has Baby Bangs Now

Baby bangs are divisive. Of all the types of bangs out there, they’re notoriously tough to pull off and hard to upkeep. Which is why when a regular person like you or me asks a friend, “Should I get baby bangs?” the answer—probably—is a swift and fast “hell no” unless you’ve got the stamina for regular trims and love your forehead. Ariana Grande, however, is far from normal and in this scenario, she’s close friends with Chris Appleton—hair whisperer to both Ari and Kim Kardashian. He’s been behind some of the biggest headline-making hair changes this year (see both Kim’s blond and Ariana’s gray.)

So, you see where this is going, right? After dying her hair silver-gray three weeks ago, Grande’s made another big change. She has choppy micro bangs now.

Ariana posted a photo to Instagram with just one emoji—a bat (as in the animal; not Steve Harrington’s weapon of choice)—while Appleton shared the same pic with the caption, “How cute are these bangs!” It’s unclear whether they’re a just-for-the-night Halloween thing or if they’re sticking around for a while (much like her gray hair), but Appleton’s caption speaks for itself. They are cute.

Take a look:

Ari might be as well known for her high, mile-long ponytail as her powerhouse voice, but actually—at the hand of Appleton’s supervision—she’s been straying from her fail-safe hairstyle for the past two years. She’s gotten brow-length bangs, been a surprise advocate for the return of scrunchies and crimpers, and lest you forget, she has really beautiful natural curls.

Maybe by the end of 2017 we’ll see her short. Crazier things have happened this year.
