Huda Beauty LifeLiner Eyeliner Review – Wow, It's Good

As mesmerized as I am by the rise of so-called “Instagram Makeup”—typically involving full coverage foundation, a technicolor eye, and matte lipstick—I usually don’t incorporate the look into my own routine. I’m much more minimal in style, somewhat hopeless with an eyeshadow brush, and always, always, short on time. That being said, there’s one Instagram trend I can always get behind: bold, beautiful winged eyeliner.

When I caught word that the Queen Of Instagram Makeup herself, Huda Kattan, was releasing a new eyeliner this fall, I knew it had to be good. Much like me, Kattan is rarely seen anywhere without her signature swipe of black liner. “Liner was actually the first piece of makeup I ever wore,” she says. “I was probably 12 when I started wearing eyeliner. It was the one thing that I would never leave the house without.”

Huda Beauty’s Life Liner features a pencil on one side and a liquid on the other. It may be surprising for a makeup maximalist, but Kattan wanted to streamline the liner process—and make it easier for travel. The pencil has a propel system that allows it to self-sharpen (always a plus), and the brush on the liquid is incredibly fine-tipped. (Kattan herself cut it to the perfect point.) The real kicker however, is the 48-hour wear claim that the liquid end boasts (the pencil has a standard eight-hour wear time).

According to the brand, the staying power comes from a blend of silicones and silicone resins; the combination creates an elastic texture that bends with your eye and doesn’t crack or smudge. The waterproof formula also features a lightweight film that protects the color once applied. Kattan says that she even uses it to lightly fill in her eyebrows for a day at the beach or pool—in the campaign video, she emerges dramatically from a tub of water, eyeliner wings perfectly intact.

Truth be told, I’ve already tried plenty of formulas that claim out-of-this -world wear, but flake off at the first sign of a tear or eye-rub. My liquid liner track wear is a solid nine hours (and that’s the best of the best), so I wanted to put Life Liner to the test. So, in the name of journalism, I slept with it on—two nights in a row. Read on for my liner diary.

Sephora's Last Weekly Wow Sale Is Its Best Yet—With 50% Off Huge Brands

It feels like just yesterday that Sephora’s Weekly Wow promotion came to us for the first time, bringing the sales that dreams are made of. For a place that used to only have one sale a year, we can’t say we were expecting it—it was a gift. And it was incredible while it lasted, but all good things must come to an end. From the beginning, Sephora told us that the Weekly Wow sales would only run until November 1, which means this week’s is our very last one. (We’re just as bummed and hoping they’ll decide to make it a permanent thing.) The single upside is, the Weekly Wows are going out with a bang, and this week’s sale is the best product lineup yet.

As per the Weekly Wow’s custom, there’s no official theme to the products. But look at this selection, and it really seems like the motif would be “best bone structure of your life,” or, if you prefer, “get those angles.” We’ve got not one, but two contour palettes from sculpting heavyweights Anastasia Beverly Hills. Both its original powder Contour Kit and its Contour Cream Kit are now going for $20, down from $40.

Leaning into Instagram makeup techniques, they’re joined by Stila’s Correct & Perfect All-In-One Color Correcting Palette. The palette is basically Color Correcting for Dummies, in the best way possible—the cream formula is sheer but buildable, while the powders set everything with an added dose of brightness. If you never got into contouring or color correcting and aren’t about to start, prepare yourself; our eyes bugged out when we saw this one. Becca’s best-selling Shimmering Skin Perfector Poured Crème Highlighter—one of the easiest, prettiest highlighters on the market—is marked down to $19, down from its original $38.

Unless you’re diehard passionate about makeup, brushes are usually the hardest sell. But at $20 for a Sephora Collection set of face makeup brushes, typically $40, it’s intriguing (and the price breaks down to $10 per brush, which is very persuasive). Philosophy’s The Microdelivery Resurfacing Peel rounds out the bunch, a two-step exfoliating treatment that would likely nullify the need for color correcting. That is a choice you must make. Good luck.

WOW: Kris Jenner Has Platinum Blond Hair Now

Here comes the mother of all celebrity hair changes, from the mother of (what can feel like) all celebrities: Kris Jenner just changed her hair. Today, dark brown pixie cuts lost an icon—but the world of platinum just got a new star. In an Instagram posted by Kim Kardashian West, the birthday girl handed over the attention to her mom. As a boss would, Kris is shown lounging, martini in hand, with her new white-blond ‘do.

With literally just the one image to go on, it’s too soon to tell where on the hair switch permanence scale this’ll be falling. It could be that Kris pulled a Kylie and went with a wig for the day. Kylie’s basically set the bar for convincing changes, so we shouldn’t be surprised that it looks so entirely realistic. Still, everyone thought that Kim’s platinum color wouldn’t stick around for long, and she’s holding onto her color a month later. Nothing is for sure.

As with anything Kardashian, umpteenth photos will likely surface on every social media platform, and soon. Until then, we can only hope that Kim is lending Kris some of her Nexxus Emergecee Protein Treatment. Kim told fans that the $20 drugstore hair treatment is the magic behind all of her formerly-black hair not breaking after she went bleach blond in September, so at least the Calabasas fam is likely well-stocked.

Also, can we take a sec to appreciate what a moment in history this is? Today marks the first time in recent memory (since, like, 2013) that Kris has made a major hair change. For all that her kids love to change up their looks (and they really love to change up their looks), Kris usually stays pretty true to her signature pixie cut. That said, anyone who watches any of the family’s 127913 shows knows that Kris does love to get involved. It’s her move.

Sephora's Weekly Wow Sale Has Cult Products for Under $15 Right Now

It’s the end of summer. RIP, but there’s no denying it now—we’ve got just a few sweet weeks of solidly warm temperatures left, until it’s onto the jeans, jackets, and boots of early fall. And even if you’re fine with fall but know, just know, that after PSL season comes winter, here’s a silver lining: the end of summer makeup sales are out of control right now, especially looking at this week’s Sephora Weekly Wow sale.

As the brand announced a couple of weeks ago, it’s posting a fresh set of deep-cut deals every week until Nov. 1. Each week’s collection is lightly tied together by a general theme, so the first week brought us palette madness, the second, a mix of feature-specific kits, and the third, some skin saviors.

All good stuff, but this week’s selection blows the rest out of the water: we’re looking at an assortment of full-size beauty cult classics, all prices slashed to $15 and under. On the eye front, there’s Benefit Cosmetics’ They’re Real! mascara, a defining, volumizing, and curling major player. Originally tagged at $24, it’s down to $15.

The mascara’s joined by Urban Decay’s likewise beloved eyeshadow Primer Potion, otherwise known as the primer everyone and their mother loves for finally making their eyeshadow stick. It’s available in the original, translucent shade, along with its multiple variations: the Anti-Aging, a smoothing and plumping twist, Eden, a brightening gold, Sin, a pale nude shimmer, and Caffeine, a warm, matte brown. Each one is typically $24, this week, knocked down to $14.

Rounding out the sale are Tarte’s three spins on liquid lipstick, with different finishes so you can pick your favorite flavor. Tarteist Creamy Matte Lip Paint dries matte, but maintains a moisturizing, moveable finish; the Tarteist Quick Dry Matte Lip Paint is also matte, but super long-wearing (my personal fave); and the Tarteist Glossy Lip Paint, which, per its name, combines pigment and shine.

They’re all $11, because sometimes things are good. As ever, stock is limited—so if you’re interested, it’s best to act fast.
