Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton Apparently Text Each Other All the Time

Rumors of a royal “feud” between Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton have been brewing for months now—and they’ve been denounced many times. A royals expert, Katie Nicholl, even told Glamour in March that it’s all rubbish. “I think this idea of there being a catfight between the two duchesses has made tantalizing headlines, but I don’t believe that,” she said. “I’ve never heard from my sources that there has ever been a feud or a falling-out.”

But nevertheless the idea that Markle and Middleton dislike each other has persisted. This narrative reached a ridiculous fever pitch in early July when fans speculated that Middleton wore a pair of earrings owned by Princess Diana to Baby Archie’s christening in an attempt to “upstage” Markle. It’s like we’ve somehow forgotten these two women are grown adults whose schedules are far too busy for petty feuds.

Hopefully this new report from Hello! magazine helps end the “feud” speculation once and for all. The Daily Mail reports that sources told Hello! that Markle and Middleton have become quite close and frequently text each other about parenting.

“Kate was a great source of support to Meghan in the days leading up to Archie’s birth and, despite reports of a rift, they are family and have a really lovely friendship,” the source tells Hello!

They continue, “Their relationship has certainly evolved over time and they have become closer since Meghan’s wedding. They talk and text regularly, they have more in common, and Kate has wanted to make sure Meghan has felt welcome into the family.”

This positive report comes just a few days after Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton were spotted together with their kids at Prince Harry and Prince William’s polo match. Tabloids say this outing—plus the duchess’s date at Wimbledon—were deliberate attempts to show a “united front.” Regardless of whether or not that’s true, Hello!’s report asserts the two duchess’s relationship is warm behind the cameras too, which is comforting.

Meghan Markle, Kate Middleton, Prince Harry, and Prince William Have a Group Text

In the latest edition of “Relatable Royals,” it turns out that Meghan Markle, Kate Middleton, and their husbands, Prince Harry and Prince William, are all on a “family text chain,” according to an Us Weekly source close to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Sounds like a group text to us, and to put it mildly, we want in.

Of course, this is a totally normal thing in most families. Sometimes it’s easy to forget that at the end of the day, when the fascinators come off and everyone’s lounging around in their comfy pants, that’s exactly what they are: a family. Albeit one that lives a very strange, public, and seemingly glamorous existence.

We have so many questions: Does William love communicating solely by emoji? Is Harry always the last one to respond? Does Kate flood the feed with adorable photos of the Cambridge kids? Does Meghan occasionally respond with Suits gifs?

Amidst weeks of stories in the British tabloids about a rift between the two couples, especially the two duchesses, the source also says, “There is no fighting going on between Kate and Meghan.”

“Kate is lovely. She’s British, she’s reserved. You have to break through that armor. Kate doesn’t warm up to people too quickly,” the source continued. “It takes some time for her to become comfortable and trusting for anyone in the outside world.” And Markle has had her own royal adjustment period. “That [royal life] can’t be easy for anyone to get used to, especially a woman who had all the independence in the world just one year ago,” the insider says.

“The ‘feud’ is definitely being played up. Are they the best of friends? No. Do they speak every waking second? No. Do they hate each other? Absolutely not,” the source said. “They are two women under serious amounts of pressure, stress and under a huge spotlight that no one can relate to—they will always have a bond that no one can break.”

Here’s hoping those rumors are put to rest soon. Until then, we’ll just imagine the Fab Four having a laugh about them on their group text.

Lady Gaga Just Spoke Out About That Text She Sent Kesha Calling Katy Perry 'Mean'

Earlier this year news broke that Lady Gaga and Kesha privately texted about the latter’s legal situation with music producer Dr. Luke. If you’re unfamiliar, Kesha sued Dr. Luke for emotional and physical abuse in 2014. The situation put Kesha’s music career in limbo, and in April 2016 a judge dismissed several of the claims she made against him. On Friday (November 30), the text exchange between Gaga and Kesha became public, and in it they discuss another singer who’s worked with Dr. Luke: Katy Perry.

In Perry’s deposition for the Kesha-Dr. Luke case, she denies being sexually assaulted by Dr. Luke—an accusation that’s been floating around for a while now. Kesha and Gaga discuss this specifically in their texts. “She [Perry] is probably really afraid to lose everything,” Gaga wrote to Kesha via text, according to Us Weekly. “U are really strong standing up to him [Dr. Luke], she’s not as strong as u yet.”

“your [sic] right. I need to find sympathy and empathy for her,” Kesha replied to Gaga before calling Perry “so mean.”

Gaga echoed Kesha’s sentiments, writing back, “Do u want me to see if I can talk to her. I know she’s mean. … She makes me angry about s–t [but] I just try to have empathy for her.”

These texts, for obvious reasons, quickly went viral on the Internet. However, Gaga took to Twitter on Friday afternoon and set the record straight. She says there’s no bad blood between herself and Perry, and that the texts released from the deposition are old.

“.@katyperry & I have grown up in the industry together,” Gaga tweeted. “We’ve gone through both celebrations & differences w/ each other. These are old texts. We’ve matured, gotten over the past, love each other & share deep respect. Katy is my friend and is truly a kind soul. End of story.”

Perry returned the affection. “Love you too friend ❤️ Onward and upward,” she wrote.

Hopefully, this ends any squabbling within the Katy and Gaga fan communities.

Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian's Latest Text Exchange Is One for the Books

When Serena Williams is playing a tennis match, most people are paying attention to the actual game. This week, however, several Twitter users took an interest in the athlete’s impeccably laid edges. Perhaps assuming (and rightly so!) that Williams might be reluctant to share the secret to keeping her hair in place, a few of these tweeters instead enlisted her husband, Alexis Ohanian, to get the intel—a task he eagerly took on.

It all began when one person asked Ohanian to peek at Williams’ side of the bathroom to find the edge control product she uses. Almost immediately, several other people jumped in to second that request, with one begging for the surely magical product that keeps Williams’ baby hairs in place through “over two hours of sweat, humidity, toweling” per match. Another added that Williams is their “edge inspiration.” Ohanian, maybe a little less than confident in his ability to identify the edge control product in question, decided to come right out and ask his wife about it, and he shared their text correspondence on Twitter.

Though Williams seemed initially surprised about her husband’s sudden interest in her hair, once he explained that it was for the good people of Twitter, she admitted that she’d recently discovered a new gel. Sadly, that’s all she’d give away, since, when Ohanian asked for the name of this miracle gel, she coyly replied, “Serena’s secret.” Alas, the Twitterverse might have to wait a bit longer for Williams to decide to reveal the name of her gel.

This isn’t even the first time this week that the Reddit cofounder has endeared himself to his superstar wife’s fans on Twitter. On Wednesday (September 19) when someone asked whether Ohanian cared about often being referred to as “Serena Williams’s husband,” he replied, “I don’t mind at all. Only a few hundred million people use @reddit every month and only a small percentage of them know who I am. (Far, far more people have cheered for my wife; specifically, for the last two decades.) Just math.” He graciously added, “[My] contribution to the world—let alone recognition—isn’t close to comparable to what my wife has done and will continue to do. It’s pretty liberating, really.” Everyone else, take note!
