Sophie Turner May Have Just Spoiled the Game of Thrones Ending With Her New Tattoo


It’s a fairly common practice these days for actors to commemorate wrapping a film or TV series by getting a tattoo inspired by their character or their time on set, and the Game of Thrones cast is no different. Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams already got matching tattoos in 2016 in honor of the day they both found out they’d been cast on the show, and Emilia Clarke recently shared her upcoming plans to get a dragon tattoo to pay tribute to Daenerys Targaryen. But it’s Turner’s newest piece of GoT–themed ink that has fans sounding the alarm and worrying she may have just spoiled the show’s ending.

Australian tattoo artist Lauren Winzer posted a photo on Instagram of Turner’s forearm inked with a new direwolf tattoo that says “the pack survives.” “Thank you so much for getting this from me @sophiet ! bad ass !” Winzer captioned the post, tagging Turner in the pic for good measure.

Though Winzer uploaded the photo last Saturday, it wasn’t until several days later that it caught the attention of GoT fans around the world. Beginning on Wednesday (June 13), the post was flooded with comments from fans anxiously wondering whether the tattoo implies the remaining members of the Stark family, whose emblem is the direwolf and which includes Turner’s character, Sansa Stark, will survive season eight, which doesn’t air until 2019. “Is this a spoiler?” one Instagram user commented, as countless others echoed the question. “A Time for Wolves! The Starklings survive!” another wrote.

A few Twitter users also speculated about the tattoo’s meaning, with one referencing an interview Turner gave E! News in 2016, shortly after she and Williams first got their matching ink. “With Thrones, we were like, if we make it all the way through, hopefully we could all get a matching wolf, but we don’t know if we’re going to make it, so Maisie and I were like, ‘Let’s get this before anyone kills us.'” So this new could tat just be the one Turner’s been dreaming of for years.

The words “the pack survives” have been a running theme throughout the series’ seven seasons. “When the snows fall and the white winds blow, the lone wolf dies, but the pack survives,” Sansa’s father Nedd said in season one, and Sansa herself repeated the line in the seventh season. Though Turner has shared she already knows Sansa’s ultimate fate, HBO is extremely protective of GoT spoilers. So it seems unlikely she’d be allowed to get the tattoo if it was a spoiler. Either way, we’ll have to wait until season eight premieres sometime next year to learn who survives the titular game of thrones.

Sarah Sophie Flicker on the Feminist Power of Red Lipstick


Red lipstick has pretty much been my thing since high school. I couldn’t tell you precisely why or when that happened—it’s always represented my most authentic self. It makes me feel like me. And really, isn’t that what’s so empowering about makeup?

Of course, not everyone feels this way. I think there’s a false tension between beauty and feminism. That’s partly because most things that are coded as female are dismissed as frivolous or lacking value. I, however, refuse to believe that. So much of what girls and women are taught about our bodies and the way we look is a reflection of the male gaze. But it’s up to every individual to wade through what that connection—how they feel and look to the world—means for them.

For me, that means being critical of my own instincts and asking, Am I attracted to this because I truly love it, or am I trying to please somebody else? My husband claims that I’m the most beautiful when I’m not wearing a stitch of makeup. That just goes to show that, as much as I love him, I really do wear my red lipstick for me. And that choice is extremely validating.

What I also love about a red lip: There’s something profoundly unifying about how it works on everyone; we can all enjoy how it makes us look and feel together. A perfect example: At the Women’s March in 2017, many of the organizers turned up in Washington at 3:00 A.M. with full makeup, red lipstick included. By the end of the night, after we all marveled in the glorious day, we also marveled at how many of us were (a) still looking fresh 16-plus hours later and (b) wearing MAC Ruby Woo. We were all from different walks of life, with different skin tones, but that red was universal.

My one hang-up with wearing red is that line you can get across the middle of your lips as your lipstick wears. But I have a trick for that: I use a lip stain on the inside of my lips before applying lipstick so there’s no detectable line as the color wears. To make a serious lip last, I alternate between applying thin coats of lipstick and blotting for several rounds. If my lips are feeling dry, I put a coat of Sephora Cream Lip Stain Liquid Lipstick in Flame Red on top.

And while a red lip is my signature, there are plenty of times—say, when I’m out with my kids in the morning, makeup-free—that I feel just as good without it. Whether you’re wearing your “thing” or not shouldn’t determine how you feel about yourself. It should simply be a tool to make you feel like you are on fire.

Sophie Turner Has Already Asked Maisie Williams to Be a Bridesmaid


When Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas announced their engagement this past fall, their celebrity friends and family were quick to congratulate the couple on social media. The most vocal by far, though, was Turner’s Game of Thrones co-star and best friend Maisie Williams. “Congratulations to my beautiful girlfriend on her engagement,” she wrote on Instagram shortly after the announcement was made public. “This is just one of MANY life milestones we’ll share. Love you both.” Clearly, the Stark bond is strong.

So, it’s not surprising that Williams would be involved in the wedding in a big way. In a new interview with Radio Times, she confirmed that she’ll serve as one of Turner’s bridesmaids. When asked if she is bidding for the job, Williams said, “I already got it!” She continued, “[The wedding] is very, very exciting. It’s kind of bizarre though.” Despite any weirdness that Williams, 20, might feel about her best friend, 21, getting married in the near future, she seems like a dedicated wedding planning side kick. “We’re waiting until this season [of Game of Thrones] is done until we get into any [wedding planning],” she said. “But I think she’s already letting her little heart wander and imagine.”

Jonas popped the question in October 2017 with a $25,000 pear shaped diamond ring. Sophie was reportedly caught “completely off guard” by the gesture, but didn’t hesitate to say yes after a year of dating the DNCE frontman. Since Game of Thrones is filming now, it seems like we can expect the two to tie the knot next year.

So now, just one question remains: Which Jonas brother gets to be best man?

Nick Jonas Gushing Over Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner’s Engagement Will Make Your Day


In one of the entertainment universe’s unlikeliest pairings, Game of Thrones and the Jonas Brothers are now connected. Meaning, of course, that Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas are getting married—and according to friends and family, everyone is very excited for the the two stars, who have been together for just over a year. But one family member sitting on the Jonas’ side of the aisle is beyond stoked: Joe’s younger brother, Nick Jonas, who made his fan status known this week when he opened up on Friday about his feelings about his brother’s relationship.

“I am very close with Joe. We live together in L.A.; we spend most of the time that we have off together, so I would say that I know him pretty well at this point,” he told People. “It was pretty clear to me early on that this relationship was one that was sort of meant to be, in a sense.”

His gushing continued: “Their connection’s beautiful and their support system with each other is incredible and everything that you hope you find in your soulmate, and I’m really happy for them.”

Nick has celebrated his brother and future sister-in-law’s relationship on social media before. In May he posted a photo of the couple getting cozy at the Met Gala with the caption, “These two ❤️.”

And when Joe and Sophie announced their engagement, he was quick to repost his brother’s Instagram photo with the caption, “Ahh! Congratulations to my brother… and sister in law to be on your engagement. I love you both so much.”

He’s even tried to make the couple’s nickname, “Jophie,” happen with his Instagram from their recent engagement party, writing, “Beautiful night celebrating beautiful people. #JOPHIE”

We don’t know if “Jophie” will ever actually happen, but we do know that this kind of brotherly love is super sweet.

Sophie Turner Explains Why She Stopped Partying While Shooting 'X-Men: Dark Phoenix'


If her engagement soirée with Joe Jonas is anything to go by, Sophie Turner seems to be very, very, very good at partying. And as it turns out, a huge part of that is knowing how and when to party responsibly. According to a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, the Game of Thrones star had to cease her supremely fun ways for almost half a year while she filmed her new movie, X-Men: Dark Phoenix.

“I think I had like, two nights of proper partying and on a five-month shoot, that’s not very much,” Turner told EW. “It was funny, the first night that I went to bed early, we were all at like, this big group dinner, and I had to work the next day, and I was like, ‘Guys, it’s 9 p.m. and I really have to be in bed.’ All the producers were so shocked because they know me and they were like, ‘Are you okay?’”

A large part of this seemed to be due to the immense pressure that comes with playing someone as iconic as an X-Men character. In Dark Phoenix, according to EW, Turner stars as the lead Jean Grey, a telepathic superhero with a dark, powerful force inside of her named Phoenix. “I’m so nervous,” she said elsewhere in the interview. “As you say, it’s one of the most iconic storylines so revered and popular. I guess the response to the third movie wasn’t great and there’s definitely a pressure to do it justice.”

This meant that extremely fun but possibly debilitating things, like star-studded festivities as well as their aftereffects, might not be the best idea. “You only really get one shot at something like this,” she added. “I was like, ‘I cannot mess this up with a hangover.’” For a 21-year-old, that must take a huge amount of self-discipline. Hats off to you, Sophie.

Sophie Turner Just Revealed When the Last Season of 'Game of Thrones' Will Air


If you haven’t even started watching HBO’s Game of Thrones yet, don’t fret, because you can spend all of 2018 catching up on the hit fantasy series before the eighth and final season airs in 2019. At least, that’s the expected air date according to Sophie Turner, who plays Sansa Stark in the extraordinarily popular show. The actress recently spoke to Variety, spilling some major secrets about filming the show’s final season.

When asked how far into production she and the cast currently are, the newly engaged (to Joe Jonas!) Turner said, “We started in October, so we’re maybe like a tenth of the way through…No, no, we’ve got six or seven months left.” At that rate, a 2018 premiere is all but impossible, so, looks like early 2019 at best.

She continued, “Game of Thrones comes out in 2019. Dark Phoenix is in November. Then I have a couple indie movies coming out. I’m a producer on my next movie. So I’m really excited about the future.”

The GoT showrunners also previously hinted at a 2019 release date for the six-episode season. “It’s exciting, but there’s always pressure. You don’t ever want to drop the ball,” D.B. Weiss told Entertainment Weekly in June of this year, adding that, at the time, they weren’t done writing the final season.

But it seems Weiss and co-showrunner David Benioff have made significant progress since then, since Turner was able to give Variety more details on how her character will grow and change in the final season, after—spoiler alert—offing her pseudo-mentor Littlefinger at the end of season 7.

“It’s going to be tricky for her because at the end of last season, she felt that she had everything set up,” Turner said. “She had her family back together. They were in control of the North again. This season, there’s a new threat, and all of a sudden she finds herself somewhat back in the deep end. And without Littlefinger, it’s a test for her of whether she can get through it. It’s a big challenge for her, without this master manipulator having her back. This season is more a passionate fight for her than a political, manipulative kind of fight.”

Turner also spoke lovingly of how the cast is spending more time together as the series wraps up. (Grab the tissues.) “When we all had the read-through for the final season, it was very, very emotional. For the first time in Thrones history, we had everyone there. All of the Americans wanted to come over. Every single cast member was pretty much there. We’re all kind of feeling the end of it coming. We’re all staying in town a little longer, going out for more meals, trying to get together more. We’re all trying not to take it for granted any more,” she said. She also praised her fellow actors, adding, “I learned to act watching Lena [Headey] and Peter [Dinklage] and Maisie [Williams] and Kit [Harington] and all of these different people. I put them all on such pedestals. The thought of not working with them is almost excruciating to me. They’ve been my growing up.”
