Emma Watson and Tom Felton Just Reunited With Their ‘Harry Potter’ Costars

Holiday parties are usually a good excuse to get all of your friends together, and it seems the Harry Potter cast used the season’s festivities for a little Hogwarts reunion. On Wednesday, December 18, Tom Felton (known to HP fans as Draco Malfoy) and Emma Watson (Hermione Granger) posted photos on Instagram that showed a few members of the old crew from the beloved film franchise had joined forces for a party—and even reignited old arguments about which house is better.

In the photos Felton poses with Watson, Evanna Lynch (Luna Lovegood), Bonnie Wright (Ginny Weasley), and Matt Lewis (Neville Longbottom). He hinted in the caption that there had definitely been some discussion about past rivalries at Hogwarts: “Seasons greetings from my school mates. @mattdavelewis & I mid debate x #gryfindorVSslytherin,” he joked in the post.

Watson added her own little tribute on Instagram, but she was much more diplomatic. She posted one of Felton’s photos in black-and-white and wrote simply, “Merry Christmas from us,” adding a smiley face. Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) and Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley) aren’t in any of the images, but we’re guessing they were with the cast in spirit.

In addition to just being really sweet, the photos have continued fueling some of those Watson-Felton dating rumors. Fans have been begging the two former costars to date after they were spotted hanging out a few times and posting on each other’s social media accounts. Most recently Felton shared an image taken while he was teaching Watson to play guitar and raved that she was a “quick learner.”

The two of them spending part of the holiday together is an interesting development, to be sure, but then again, these friends have known each other since they were kids—maybe they were just feeling nostalgic about their Hogwarts days.

Four New Harry Potter Books Are on the Way So Just Take All My Galleons

The Harry Potter-verse never seems to stop growing, thanks to things like new rides at the Universal theme parks and Fantastic Beasts spin-off movies keeping us entertained (and spending our hard-earned sickles). Plus, J.K. Rowling’s lively Twitter feed is a constant source of reveals and fresh details.

And Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw, and Hufflepuff alums alike will be thrilled with the latest news: According to Pottermore, four new e-books will be added to the wizarding world of Harry Potter this summer. The series of eBook shorts will be themed around different Hogwarts lessons, which sounds like just the thing to deepen your knowledge in the same way Harry, Hermione, Ron and the rest of the students did in the original books.

“The series features four bitesize reads, each themed by Hogwarts lessons, and will take you back in time once again to learn about the traditional folklore and magic at the heart of the Harry Potter stories,” the site says. The shorts are adapted from the audiobook, Harry Potter – A Journey Through A History of Magic, and “are a chance to absorb the colourful characters and curious incidents of the real history of magic in a more compact form—perfect for the train or whatever Muggle transport you prefer.” They will also include notes, manuscript pages, and “charming” sketches, according to Pottermore.

Look: Even Hermione, Ron, and Harry can’t believe the news.

The four titles are Harry Potter: A Journey Through Charms and Defence Against the Dark Arts, Harry Potter: A Journey Through Potions and Herbology, Harry Potter: A Journey Through Divination and Astronomy, and Harry Potter: A Journey Through Care of Magical Creatures, and the first two will be released on June 27.

Fans were understandably excited and took to social media to express their feelings, which ranged from “screaming” to “my summer is gonna be littttt!” Yup, our thoughts exactly.

You can pre-order the new books here.

The Latest *Fantastic Beasts* Trailer Just Confirmed a Major *Harry Potter* Fan Theory

Thus far, the Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald trailers have implied their fair share of beasts and crimes, but the newest and final teaser for the next installment of the Wizarding World saga is without a doubt the most fantastic.

Of course, all your favorites from the the first film make a reappearance — plus the additions of Jude Law as our beloved Albus Dumbledore and Zoë Kravitz as Leta Lestrange, Newt Scamander’s old flame — but the most surprising new character reveal comes in the form of a certain reptile all too familiar to fans of the OG Harry Potter series. Yep, Nagini, Voldemort’s trusty snake sidekick/Horcrux, is finally getting the backstory she deserves. And, as it turns out, she’s a woman! According to Entertainment Weekly, Nagini (played by South Korean actress Claudia Kim) is a traveling circus performer who also happens to be a “Maledictus” — or, for the un-indoctrinated, a cursed human doomed to one day transform permanently into a beast. Spooky.

Fans have been thinking this for a while now:

The Crimes of Grindelwald trailer also offers a brief intense scene involving Johnny Depp’s Gellert Grindelwald and Dumbledore. In the clip, Scamander asks his old professor why he has to be the one to defeat Grindelwald, to which Dumbledore replies, “I cannot move against Grindelwald. It has to be you,” as we’re shown a brief flashback of a young Grindelwald and an even younger Dumbledore touching the Mirror of Erised, which Potterheads are well aware will show one’s greatest desire. For the record, director David Yates has previously said the film’s young Dumbledore will not be “explicitly gay,” but “I think all the fans are aware of that. He had a very intense relationship with Grindelwald when they were young men. They fell in love with each other’s ideas, and ideology and each other.” Hmmm.

Big reveals aside, the latest trailer will certainly satisfy Muggles’ thirst for magical crime-fighting and spell-binding action. Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald will hit theaters on November 16. Wands at the ready, please.
