Meghan Markle Made a Surprise Appearance at a Baseball Game With Prince Harry in London

Since giving birth to baby Archie on May 6, Meghan Markle has only made a handful of public appearances, one of which included the annual Trooping the Colour ceremony earlier this month. Since then, the new mom has been quietly enjoying her maternity leave, but on Saturday (June 29), the Duchess of Sussex surprised royal fans by joining Prince Harry for a date night at a baseball game in London. Yep, you read that right: The couple made an appearance to watch the New York Yankees face off against the Boston Red Sox during the first Major League baseball game to be played in Europe.

According to ITV News, the game is also a way to promote the Invictus Games, a philanthropic project of Prince Harry’s: Former Invictus Games competitors are set to throw the first pitch of the historic game.

Markle dressed up a little more than one usually would for an evening at a baseball game—fitting, given the historic event (and, you know, her being a royal). She looked chic in an all-black Stella McCartney dress, black flats, a gold-trimmed belt, and her hair in loose curls.

Markle and Prince Harry were spotted at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park ahead of the game, where they greeted players from both teams and even posed for photos with them.

In another shot, Markle and Prince Harry are pictured holding a tiny onesie with the Red Sox logo.

Not to be outdone, it seems like the Yankees had the same idea: The team also gifted the royals with a baseball shirt that featured Archie’s name printed on the back.

Although Markle’s still on maternity leave, that doesn’t mean there aren’t more plans afoot for the Sussexes and their newborn: It’s recently been confirmed that Markle and Prince Harry are going on their first royal tour abroad since welcoming their son into the world. The family of three will make an official visit to South Africa this fall.

This Eczema-Friendly T-shirt Dress Is a Game Changer—Here’s Why

About five years ago I was forced to reconsider what “comfy clothing” meant. Up until then it had been a rotation of stretchy sweatpants, flannel PJs, and joggers with generous waistlines. But couch-creature attire lost its blissful simplicity, as fears of itchiness and chafing started looming over every fashion choice, from workwear to even those innocent lived-in sweats. That’s what adult-onset eczema will do to you.

Since I was diagnosed, clothing has become a fraught ordeal. Getting dressed—something that was fun and creative on the best mornings—was now daunting. I have to think critically about everything I’m thinking of wearing and determine its irritation potential. I must use fragrance-free detergent exclusively, and carefully avoid dryer sheets, fabric softener, and any other scented products. (This was logistically difficult, since I live in a laundryless walk-up apartment, and also emotionally draining, as I’d be forced to confront my skin flake-caked, bloodied, ointment- and lotion-stained clothes more frequently.)

Before I even put anything on, I have to slather on myriad lotions and prescription ointments, and cover up bloody wounds with first aid gauze, paper towels, and tissues—just to prepare my skin for clothing. To then have to stand there, practically naked, resisting the urge to aggressively scratch my skin, contemplating the risk/reward of various outfit options? It was utterly awful.

My eczema has significantly improved since then, thanks to a litany of medications, including clinical trials. But I’m not 100% eczema-free 24/7. I’ll always need to be cautious about clothes—what they’re made of, what they’re washed in, how they fit—to help curb flare-ups and manage existing ones. And summers will always be especially tough: Humidity does uncomfortable, rashy things to my skin and makes it even more sensitive to clothing. I’ll have more dramatic reactions to fabric, seams, and snugness in hot, sticky weather. So when I learned about a new brand making basics, from tanks to leggings, expressly for people with eczema and sensitive skin, you can imagine my relief.

Saint Haven launched in fall 2018 with a collection of staple pieces made from a buttery proprietary fabric that’s cut and sewn in the smoothest, least itchy way fathomable. It came out of founder Jacqueline Sacks’s own frustrations with apparel options for her kids: “As a mother of three, I set out to find a fabric that would ease my one daughter’s discomfort from eczema and my other daughter’s sensory processing issues that make tags and coarse fabrics problematic,” she says. That involved nearly two years of research and development, 19 prototypes, and a partnership with an ethical manufacturer in Portugal on a material called Saint Haven Soft. It’s made from pulp of beech trees, which are naturally moisture-wicking, spun into an ultra-fine textile that’s dipped in a nontoxic enzyme and colored with nontoxic, environmentally friendly dyes. The result is eco-friendly, hypoallergenic, antimicrobial, and, yes, quite soft.

Of all of Saint Haven’s basics, it’s this simple dress that has changed the way I get dressed.

Dubbed the Softest T-shirt Dress, it’s versatile and breathable, almost like a better-than-naked nightgown. I got mine two and a half months ago, and I’ve been wearing it multiple times a week—with a high-waist skirt (instead of a wedgie-inducing bodysuit or a shirt that constantly rides up), tucked into pants, underneath an otherwise itchy sweater or jacket. It’s also a genius travel piece that scrunches down to the size of a pair of socks.

The design came from crowdsourcing during the R&D for Saint Haven’s launch. “We spoke to our family and friends and found that everyone experiences comfort in different ways,” Sacks says. “Some women enjoy more snug-fitting leggings, while others prefer a more relaxed pant to lounge in, but we unanimously heard that the Perfect Fit Tee struck just the right balance, with both its fit and the drape of the fabric. Thus the Softest T-shirt Dress was born.”

This Deleted Game of Thrones Scene Would Have Explained a Lot About Cersei

This post contains spoilers for the final season of Game of Thrones. Consider yourself warned.

Game of Thrones has been over for a month—we’re doing Big Little Lies on Sundays now—but will it ever truly be over? That’s probably a no, and not just because a prequel is in the works. A show like Thrones lends itself to endless speculation, especially considering how unhappy many fans were with how showrunners David Benioff and DB Weiss opted to close out the eighth and final season.

New details are still emerging about what could have been for some of our favorite inhabitants of Westeros. According to People, actress Lena Headey recently told the crowd at a German comic book convention about a deleted scene that showed her character, Cersei Lannister, having a miscarriage. “We shot a scene that never made it into season seven, which was where I lose the baby,” she said. “And it was a really traumatic, great moment for Cersei, and it never made it in.”

“I kind of loved doing that because I thought it would’ve served her differently,” she continued. “Of course, we’re not exactly sure what made the show’s creators scrap the scene, but we can’t say it isn’t interesting to at least think about how that moment may have changed things.”

You’ll remember that Cersei told her brother Jaime that she was carrying their child and had also convinced Euron Greyjoy that she was pregnant with his baby. Her other brother, Tyrion, tried to use the unborn baby as a motivation for Cersei to negotiate with him and Daenerys, to no avail. Fans were left to wonder what was really going on with Cersei. Was she ever really pregnant? Why wasn’t she showing more if time was passing?

Now we know that, at some point, the show’s creators had planned to offer an explanation. Also, we agree with Headey that we would have loved to see this sort of pivotal scene from Cersei, who was often underused in season eight. Headey recently told The Guardian that she has a “few of her own gripes” about the way Game of Thrones ended, in general, and that she wanted a better death for Cersei. “I will say I wanted a better death,” she said. “Obviously you dream of your death. You could go in any way on that show. So I was kind of gutted. But I just think they couldn’t have pleased everyone. No matter what they did, I think there was going to be some big comedown from the climb.”

Sophie Turner Blames Kit Harington for That Game of Thrones Coffee Cup Blooper

Sophie Turner just put one of the world’s biggest mysteries to rest: the coffee cup gaffe of Game of Thrones season eight.

Don’t know what I’m talking about? Let’s back up for a second. If you watched this season of GoT, then you most likely remember how snoozy episode four was. To be fair, it had a lot to live up to, seeing as how it directly followed Arya Stark killing the Night King. All this dead air, though, probably explains why fans chose not to focus on the plot and instead on a rogue coffee cup that somehow made it into one of the scenes. Here it is to jog your memory:

And a few Twitter reactions to remind you of the sheer pandemonium it caused:

So how the hell did this happen? Game of Thrones is a detailed, big-budget production, so the fact such an obvious mistake made it into a final episode cut is head-scratching. At first Turner blamed the incident on Emilia Clarke, joking to Jimmy Fallon, “Look who it’s placed in front of. Emilia Clarke. She’s the culprit.”

But now Turner’s changing her tune. She now posits that Kit Harington is the one responsible for coffee cup-gate. “I hear this every day of my life. This coffee cup thing,” Turner told Conan O’Brien in a interview on Conan Thursday night, June 6. “It’s good to know the coffee cup got more press than the final season altogether. The coffee cup was where Kit’s chair was. At first I blamed it on Emilia, but I don’t think Emilia would do that. Kit is lazy, and I think he would’ve done that. It was in front of Kit’s chair and then, obviously, he moved so this picture was taken and it looked like it was in my seat. But I wasn’t there, either. It was Kit. It was 100 percent Kit.”

Watch Sophie Turner Realize the Game of Thrones Ending Was Hidden in a Season 1 Poster

Last week we wrote about a Game of Thrones poster from season one that basically revealed the ending of the show hidden in plain sight. That secret spoiler made its way to Sophie Turner in a recent interview, and she was understandably shook that she didn’t catch it either.

In the promo image from about eight years ago, you can see Ned Stark brooding on the Iron Throne. The picture was resurfaced by Twitter user @thommybell, who noticed there’s a clue buried deep in the photo. If you look closely, you can see a raven sitting next to Ned—a dead giveaway that his son Bran Stark, a.k.a. The Three-Eyed Raven, ends up as the leader of the Seven Kingdoms. No one noticed the tiny detail, and most people were amazed once it was pointed out—including Turner.

While doing promo for her new movie Dark Phoenix, Metro U.K. asked Turner if there had been any foreshadowing that fans missed when it came to her character Sansa Stark’s storyline. Turner said the only hint was in the first episode, when Sansa tells her mother, “I want to be queen, Mommy, someday.” That’s when her Dark Phoenix costar Jessica Chastain pointed out the whole poster spoiler.

“You know the poster for the first season—you know what’s on it?” Chastain says in the video. “So it’s your papa on the throne, and there’s a raven on the throne, right to his right.”

Naturally, Turner’s reaction was absolutely priceless.

Turner has been answering tons of questions about Game of Thrones on this press junket. Just a few days ago, Sky News asked her if she ever saw herself reprising her role as Sansa. Her answer will break your heart, though it’s understandable in a way: “I think it’s time to say goodbye to Sansa,” she told the outlet.

“I’m ready-ish to say goodbye to her. I think my watch has ended. I just think it’s been 10 years of my life and the best 10 years of my life by far, and I finished in a very happy place with Sansa and it’s time to let her go.”

Here's How Sophie Turner Feels About Reprising Sansa in the Game of Thrones Spinoffs

The final episode of Game of Thrones was controversial, but one plot line most people seemed to appreciate was (spoiler alert!) Sansa Stark—played by Sophie Turner—being crowned the Warden of the North. Because she’s one of the few characters whose story didn’t end in gut-wrenching tragedy, some have wondered if Sansa might make an appearance in one of the many spinoff shows GoT writer George RR Martin has said are in development. But that probably won’t happen. In a new interview with Sky News this week, Turner said she’s pretty much done with Sansa for now. As she put it, revisiting her character would “just be more trauma.”

“I think it’s time to say goodbye to Sansa,” Turner said, “I’m ready-ish to say goodbye to her, I think my watch has ended. I just think it’s been 10 years of my life and the best 10 years of my life by far, and I finished in a very happy place with Sansa and it’s time to let her go.”

Sophie Turner started filming Game of Thrones when she was 14 years old, and the show has followed her into adulthood. She previously shared that the show caught her in a rough part of adolescence: She battled depression and frequently turned to her co-star and close friend, Maisie Williams, who played her sister Arya Stark. After the show ended, she took some time off to focus on her mental health.

HBO

“I actually am still on my break,” she said. “I took a break off of work to focus on my mental health because I thought it was important.”

Turner commemorated the end of the show with an epic tattoo that showed a direwolf and the text, “The pack survives.” It seemed like a very final gesture, but who knows how things will change as the spinoffs take shape. So far, we only know about a prequel in the works, and it takes place thousands of years before Game of Thrones—so we definitely shouldn’t plan on seeing Sansa.
