Watch Sophie Turner Realize the Game of Thrones Ending Was Hidden in a Season 1 Poster


Last week we wrote about a Game of Thrones poster from season one that basically revealed the ending of the show hidden in plain sight. That secret spoiler made its way to Sophie Turner in a recent interview, and she was understandably shook that she didn’t catch it either.

In the promo image from about eight years ago, you can see Ned Stark brooding on the Iron Throne. The picture was resurfaced by Twitter user @thommybell, who noticed there’s a clue buried deep in the photo. If you look closely, you can see a raven sitting next to Ned—a dead giveaway that his son Bran Stark, a.k.a. The Three-Eyed Raven, ends up as the leader of the Seven Kingdoms. No one noticed the tiny detail, and most people were amazed once it was pointed out—including Turner.

While doing promo for her new movie Dark Phoenix, Metro U.K. asked Turner if there had been any foreshadowing that fans missed when it came to her character Sansa Stark’s storyline. Turner said the only hint was in the first episode, when Sansa tells her mother, “I want to be queen, Mommy, someday.” That’s when her Dark Phoenix costar Jessica Chastain pointed out the whole poster spoiler.

“You know the poster for the first season—you know what’s on it?” Chastain says in the video. “So it’s your papa on the throne, and there’s a raven on the throne, right to his right.”

Naturally, Turner’s reaction was absolutely priceless.

Turner has been answering tons of questions about Game of Thrones on this press junket. Just a few days ago, Sky News asked her if she ever saw herself reprising her role as Sansa. Her answer will break your heart, though it’s understandable in a way: “I think it’s time to say goodbye to Sansa,” she told the outlet.

“I’m ready-ish to say goodbye to her. I think my watch has ended. I just think it’s been 10 years of my life and the best 10 years of my life by far, and I finished in a very happy place with Sansa and it’s time to let her go.”

Game of Thrones Secretly Revealed Who Won the Iron Throne in This Season 1 Poster


Warning: Game of Thrones spoilers ahead.

Game of Thrones fans are still reeling from the revelation that Bran Stark was the one who ended up on the Iron Throne in the series finale. Well, not the Iron Throne exactly: The physical seat was actually melted by Drogon, but Bran was anointed head of the six kingdoms. (The North became its own territory that Queen Sansa Stark now rules.) This is the answer we’ve been waiting years for—and fan reactions are divided, to say the least.

But what happened shouldn’t come as much of a surprise. For one, women on Game of Thrones never properly get their due. (Yes, Sansa is queen of the North but she deserves to rule over everything, damn it!) Also, HBO low-key revealed the Bran Stark-Iron Throne twist in a season one poster. Yup.

Take a close look at the throwback image of Ned Stark, below. He’s sitting on the Iron Throne and to his right is what looks like a raven. Bran, as we all know, became the Three-Eyed Raven on Game of Thrones, and he’s also Ned’s son. So was this image a hint that he would ultimately take the Iron Throne?

Twitter user @thommybell certainly thinks so. He pointed out this connection on Monday, May 20 and has since racked up hundreds of likes. “Anyone else just notice the raven on Ned’s right from the season one poster,” he tweeted. “Raven + Ned Stark on the Iron Throne = Bran Stark. It was in front of us THE WHOLE TIME.”

Of course, it’s possible this is just a coincidence—or maybe Ned is seated next to a crow in the photo, not a raven. (One user who replied to @thommybell’s tweet pointed that out.) It’s certainly an interesting theory, though. I absolutely wouldn’t put it past Team Game of Thrones to hide the answer to its biggest mystery in plain sight.

If you are feeling some type of way about the Game of Thrones series finale, you won’t find much sympathy from its stars. Sophie Turner recently slammed the petition fans started to redo season eight. “I think it’s disrespectful to the crew, and the writers, and the filmmakers who have worked tirelessly over 10 years, and for 11 months shooting the last season,” she told the New York Times. “Like 50-something night shoots. So many people worked so, so hard on it, and for people to just rubbish it because it’s not what they want to see is just disrespectful.”

Meanwhile, Kit Harington told Esquire in April, “Whatever critic spends half an hour writing about this season and makes their [negative] judgement on it, in my head they can go f–k themselves. ‘Cause I know how much work was put into this. I know how much people cared about this.”

Danai Gurira’s Name Was Left Off the New ‘Avengers’ Poster, and Marvel Fans Aren’t Happy


Marvel got fans excited this week by dropping the official trailer and poster for Avengers: Endgame, but that hype turned into frustration for many when they noticed one glaring omission: The poster doesn’t list Danai Gurira in the cast credits at the top of the image.

In this latest installment of The Avengers, Gurira reprises Okoye, her badass warrior character from Black Panther and Infinity War. Gurira’s image appears on the Avengers: Endgame poster, alongside actors like Brie Larson and Chris Hemsworth, but she’s the only one out of 12 major players whose name isn’t listed in the top credits. That’s a massive oversight, given that Gurira is also the only black woman in the cast. The omission didn’t sit well with Twitter users, many of whom saw it as erasing a woman of color and urged Marvel to correct the poster.

“She is the only black woman on that poster, the highest profile post-snappening wakandan, a firm fan favorite, and freaking actual DANAI GURIRA to boot. put some respect on her name, damn,” one Twitter user wrote. Others pointed out that characters with less impressive roles had been included in the credits. “They really put Bradley Cooper as the fucking raccoon before Danai Gurira’s name this is pathetic,” one user tweeted.

Eventually, eagle-eyed fans noticed that Gurira’s name does appear at the very bottom of the poster, but you’d basically need a magnifying glass to see it. Marvel hasn’t responded to the criticism or issued a new poster, but fans have made it clear that Gurira should not be ignored.

Avengers: Endgame is in theaters April 26.

The Poster For Colton Underwood's Season of The Bachelor Is Really…Something


Breaking news: Did you know Colton Underwood, the next Bachelor, is a virgin? I kid—there’s no way you could forget. Remember how his storylines on The Bachelorette and Bachelor in Paradise unfolded earlier this year? The shows constantly weaved in the fact that this hunky 26-year-old former football player was somehow still a virgin. He actually cried on one of the live specials as he recalled how he frequently lied about his sex life to his teammates, as if that was supposed to make us feel…sorry for him, I guess?

No shade to Colton’s tears—I just think his virginity is a weird quality to harp on because, truth is, it’s not a big deal. Some people are virgins, and some people aren’t. Just like some people pronounce caramel “care-a-mell” and others say “car-mul.” Both are fine, valid options. The same goes for your sex life. Colton is a virgin, not a serial killer.

And yet the reality series keeps playing the V-card for all it’s worth. Exhibit A: The first promotional poster for Colton’s season of The Bachelor, which is pretty standard minus one hilarious detail. Take a look at it for yourself, below:

See what I’m talking about? Colton’s tagline is the not-at-all-subtle, “What does he have to lose?” Get it? Because he’s a virgin? And he has to lose his virginity?

Here’s a new Bachelor drinking game for Colton’s season: Take a sip any time someone says the word “virgin.” Maybe play with soda, though, because at this rate it’ll be 500 times per episode—and it’s never a good idea to go that hard on a Monday.

The (Virgin) Bachelor premieres January 7 at 8 P.M. ET on ABC.
