Kate Middleton Just Dyed Her Hair Even Blonder

There are few heads of hair on the planet more discussed, dissected, and photographed than Kate Middleton’s. Long before she was the Duchess of Cambridge and the future queen consort, Prince William’s then girlfriend and enviable long, brown hair became a staple in the world press.

Since then, royal watchers (and beauty fans) have clocked every style and color change Middleton has made. Her 2016 bangs were hotly debated (I loved them and sort of wish they’d make a comeback) and some theorize that certain changes in her hair indicate a pregnancy. Lately she seems to be having fun playing with her color.

Last month she debuted some gorgeous honey-blond highlights while dropping Prince George and Princess Charlotte off at Thomas’s Battersea for their first day of school.

And at Wednesday’s royal engagement at the Natural History Museum in London, it appears she’s changed her hair once again. While it’s hard to tell what is hair color and what is lighting, fans online are speculating that the duchess has gotten even more highlights since last month’s update. Because royals aren’t like other celebrities, we rarely get to learn the details of their beauty routines from their glam squads or the duchesses themselves—so it’s unlikely we’ll get a confirmation. But the photos more or less speak from themselves. Lighting, color lifting, whatever the effect, her hair looks shiny, vibrant, and healthy.

Ariana Grande Dyed Her Ponytail Purple — Photos

Ariana Grande’s been playing a lot with styling her signature ponytail, most recently adding a healthy dose of ’60s-era flounce to it. Now, she’s gone a step further and changed the color entirely.

The artist’s longtime hairstylist Chris Appleton posted a photo of Grande during pre-performance prep on Instagram in which she’s sporting a purple skirt, purple tank top, purple fingerless gloves and, yes, purple hair. “Lavender pony’s change lives,” he captioned the photo.

Grande makes no secret of her love of hair extensions, but it appears as though her (IRL shoulder-length) hair has actually been dyed a cool lavender-gray. About an inch of brown hair remains at the root, while the rest of her ponytail goes from lavender-gray to lavender-blonde to pure pastel.

If Grande did in fact make the move towards rainbow hair, she’s hardly the first celeb to choose Appleton for the job. He’s taken Kim Kardashian from pink to brown and back again more times than we can count and just so happens to be the mastermind behind this ice-blue shade.

Fans are fawning over the new look in the comment section, with some already planning to try out purple themselves. “Gorgeous as always!” added one commenter. “Purple perfection,” wrote another.

With Grande’s career moving at the speed of light, we doubt she has much time to sit around bleaching, coloring, and toning her hair to this pastel shade very often, so it’s hard to predict how long this color will stay around. One thing’s for sure though: Even when she goes back to brunette, her ponytail is coming with her.

Hailey Baldwin Just Dyed Her Hair Watermelon Pink

In terms of celebrity hair changes, the bar for 2018 is high—Kim Kardashian-going-silver high. It’ll take a lot to beat Selena Gomez going platinum (and back), Cara Delevingne going buzzed, and all of the other major transformations that last year saw. But thanks to Hailey Baldwin, we’re off to a good start. The model just showed up with pink hair, and the shade is all-out beautiful.

Baldwin was spotted with her new color on the beach in Miami, and at first glance, it looks like another case of millennial pink. But in a turn of events, Baldwin found a way to make the color—the color that’s been everywhere for the last few years—feel brand new. Case in point: Baldwin herself went pale pink in November 2016. But where that brush with pink fit into the pale, millennial pink category, Baldwin’s new shade leans more vivid. And by that we mean, the model’s gone neon.

Or at least partially so. The interesting thing about Baldwin’s new color is that it’s actually pretty two-tone, and while that’d look out-there with two different colors, sticking within the pink family, it looks gorgeous. From Baldwin’s Instagram, it looks like the back of her hair is a dusty, rose-gold color that skews strawberry blond.

Closer to her face, the pink’s intensity picks up and it turns into a saturated, vivid hot pink, the likes of which we haven’t seen since Gigi Hadid’s pink pony. Baldwin also manages to make streaky, chunky pink roots look appealing. No surprise, coming from the woman who was wearing “soft roots” before everyone else.

Baldwin’s dabbled in temporary colored mousse for a single-use change, so there’s no telling how long her pink will stick around. The model’s known for her buttery blond color, but with the amount of intrigue she’s brought to pink, we’re hoping it sticks around.

Troian Bellisario Just Dyed Her Hair Millennial Peach

Let’s be real: At this point, millennial pink is a little done. We’ll always love the color that briefly took over every aspect of our lives, but the world’s moved onto bigger and better things. Millennial pink is dead; long live millennial peach, especially because Troian Bellisario just dyed her whole head the pinky-orange color. In all seriousness (or as much seriousness as you can have while talking about a color named “millennial peach”), it actually looks really great.

Given how quickly most celebrities change up their look, it’s easy to be a cynic and cry “wig” when it comes to drastic dye jobs. But times are changing, and recently there’s been an uptick in stars following through on their colorful looks (or less colorful, as far as Ariana Grande’s silvery switch goes). From the look of Troian’s dark brown roots and her caption, which reads “? baby,” it seems like this is a real deal change. We’re not entirely convinced yet, because some sleuthing reveals that her longtime hairstylist, David Stanwell, hasn’t posted any photos of a switch. So he could be in on the game and keeping quiet, or, this could just be a realistically dyed wig—featuring roots to really throw everyone off.

Only time will tell, but two things are for sure. One, that peach is actually a gorgeous color to dye your hair. It might be the lighting, but it’s like the shade casts an ultra-flattering glow on Troian’s skin, much like an IRL color-brightening filter (the dream). The photos from when Lady Gaga went peach confirm it: going peach gives your skin a warm glow, no bronzer needed. The second sure fact: Troian can do what she wants, obvisouly, but we’re personally hoping the bob doesn’t mean her gorgeous curls are gone for good.

Busy Philipps Just Dyed Michelle Williams' Hair Pink on Instagram

PHOTO: INSTAGRAM / @BUSYPHILIPPS

Legend has it that celebrities are just like us, and watching Busy Philipps dye Michelle Williams’ hair pink, well, let’s just say we’re starting to buy into that idea a little more. On Wednesday night, the real-life best friends recorded the whole night for Instagram, and it’s impossible to look away.

The action began while the duo and a friend were staying up for a flight back to LA from Paris. After going out, they were back in a hotel room (with white wine) when the pink-haired Philipps whipped out her leave-in hair tint. “Guys, we’re going to dye her hair pink. What do you think? Is this a good idea? Look at that hair. It’s going to be pink,” Philipps explained to the camera.

PHOTO: Instagram / @busyphilipps

Philipps says she uses the tint for 20 minutes to get her pink color, so they decided to put it into William’s platinum pixie for five minutes. The goal: “perfectly millennial pink” hair. Philipps massaged it in; Williams’ face is, in a word, incredible. In two words, incredible and relatable.

Five minutes of wine time later, and Williams’ was freshly pink.

For how it happened, the color looks great—like pink champagne (alcohol pun not intended), strawberry blond’s platinum-based sister.

In a Leslie Knope way, Philipps said what we were all thinking: “She has slightly pink hair, and it’s fucking beautiful. She’s like a little nymph asleep next to me.”

Cara Delevingne Dyed Her Pixie Chocolate Brown, Predictably Looks Awesome

No matter how strong-willed you are, it’s tough not to be swayed by trends. Even if you hate change and know you’d regret getting curtain bangs, seeing enough people wear a certain style can make you start considering it. This, however, is not the case when you’re Cara Delevingne. The many ways she’s worn her hair since buzzing it has been a victory cry for doing your own thing, and now she’s added to the repertoire with a look that’s completely new, even for her. She dyed her pixie chocolate brown.

Delevingne brought her freshly brunette color out for the first signing of her new YA book, which is on theme. New professional direction, entirely new hairstyle—who hasn’t been there? Well, most people, but that doesn’t have to dull the joy of watching Delevingne’s transformations. The cool, dark brown shade is a dramatic shift from the icy platinum she’s been wearing for the past few months, and a few notches darker than her natural light-brown color.

Clearly, Delevingne’s made a career out of following her gut and going her own way. (Remember when she invented eyebrows? Kidding, obviously.) But that said, this exact look’s not without precedent. Delevingne’s been brunette before: she tried out a chestnut color in 2014. It’s never been this short and dark, though, so the Winona-esque moment feels untapped.

To recap, that brings the count of colors Delevingne’s tried to brunette, pink, blue, platinum, silver, strawberry blond, and auburn. It’s hard to say how long this one will stick around for, but no doubt Delevingne and her longtime stylist, Mara Roszak, will find something absurdly cool to do with it.
