Rihanna Designed a Savage X Fenty Lingerie Capsule to Benefit Her Foundation—And Everything's Under $100


With her inaugural Savage X Fenty lingerie show, Rihanna really flipped the script on New York Fashion Week—with an incredibly diverse cast (and immersive performance experience), a model in labor, impressive social media engagement… And she’s riding all that buzz to announce a brand-new launch for the label—and one with a deeply personal meaning for the performer and designer.

Savage X Fenty released a limited-edition capsule collection benefitting the Clara Lionel Foundation, the non-profit Rihanna founded in 2012 (and is named after her grandparents) that benefits education and emergency response programs globally.

There are three pieces: a cotton tank top, logo bikini bottom, and satin robe. They bear a custom logo (which you can see most clearly on the robe) that marries the world of Savage X Fenty with that of the organization.

“This sleepwear set is stylish and comfortable. But more than that, when you wear it you know you have taken a stand and given back to an incredible cause,” Rihanna said in a statement. As with all Savage X Fenty drops, the capsule comes in a size-inclusive range of XS through 3X. The tank top and bikini bottom are sold as a set for $63, while the robe retails for $68.

Rihanna has used her companies and brand affiliations to benefit the Clara Lionel Foundation in the past. This Savage X Fenty capsule joins the Fenty Killawatt Diamond Ball-Out, Fenty x Puma Clara Lionel Women’s Creeper, and Dior’s We Should All Be Feminists T-shirt in fundraising for the organization.

Kaia Gerber Will Design a Capsule Collection for Karl Lagerfeld


After Kaia Gerber made her runway debut last fall, walking for designers from Calvin Klein to Saint Laurent, pretty much everyone in the fashion industry came to the same conclusion: This sixteen-year-old model is one to watch. (And, we’re just a little obsessed with her runway walk.) Now, Gerber is adding another impressive title to her rapidly-growing résumé: designer.

WWD reports that Gerber will join forces with Karl Lagerfeld to design a capsule collection for his eponymous apparel line. The collaboration, set to drop in September (just in time for Fashion Week!), will include clothing, shoes, and accessories like sunglasses and jewelry, according to British Vogue. And the aesthetic? Think Gerber’s native West Coast meets Lagerfeld’s Paris—i.e., casual yet very chic.

Nabbing Gerber for her first fashion line is no small feat—and reps from Karl Lagerfeld were understandably excited about the forthcoming collection. Pier Paolo Righi, chief executive officer of Karl Lagerfeld, told WWD that the pair have been hard at work on the collection over the last few months: “We were all excited by the incredible potential and power of bringing their two worlds together.” Righi added that Gerber has shown “passion and engagement” with designing the line, and that “the collection will definitely inspire many young women.”

Ever since she opened opening the Chanel Spring 2018 show during Paris Fashion Week, Gerber has traveled to Germany to walk its Métiers d’Art show and to Hong Kong to fête its new exhibit—so, clearly, she’s been on Lagerfeld’s radar. And though this pair-up is for the designer’s own line—not for Chanel or Fendi—we have a feeling it’ll still end up on some high-profile friends of Gerber’s.

ASOS and GLAAD Collaborate on a Gender-Neutral Capsule Collection


2017 was the year that fashion brands got political, using their platforms to support organizations fighting the good fight for equality. ASOS is the latest retailer to offer apparel benefitting a worthy cause—and its efforts go beyond putting a slogan on a T-shirt: It teamed up with GLAAD on a gender-neutral capsule collection, with part of the proceeds from each sale benefitting the LGBTQ+ rights organization’s Together campaign.

Every item in the collection includes GLAAD’s ampersand logo as a symbol of unity, a value the line lives up to by eliminating restrictive gender labels. (This marks the first time ASOS releases product that’s specifically marked as gender-neutral.) To match its inclusive messaging, ASOS and GLAAD cast models across the gender-identity and sexuality spectrum to front its campaign, from Richie Shazam to 13 Reasons Why star Tommy Dorfman.

“It’s exciting to be a part of the first GLAAD collaboration with a major brand, especially one with such a big reach, like ASOS,” Dorfman tells Glamour. The collection aligns with the actor’s vision for fashion—one that’s more inviting than what shoppers may already see. “I think fashion should always be open, flexible, gender-non-conforming,” he explains. “It’s important for people who identify as fluid and non-binary to also have a place to shop that doesn’t force them to pick a gender that doesn’t feel right.”

Despite the gender-inclusive branding and accessible price point (items start at $13 for a ring or necklace), Dorfman did note one area for further improvement in this collection: In future capsules and collaborations, he’d like to see inclusive options for shoppers that aren’t rooted in traditionally “masculine” styles, such as skirts and dresses—feedback that other mass retailers that have released gender-neutral clothing have received in the past. All in all, though, it’s progress to see a major brand showing its support for customers beyond the traditional categories we see represented in mainstream retail. “Raising awareness globally for marginalized or at-risk groups, funding organizations, and educating their clients” are important steps Dorfman thinks that ASOS has taken with this collection.
