Shopping for denim comes with a conundrum that few other categories share: There’s no shortage of denim brands to choose from, but finding exactly what you want, exactly in your size, is ridiculously difficult. You have to choose between some combination of quality, trend-forwardness, fit, price—but not all. A store that hits all marks? That’s as close as you get to a fashion unicorn. Hunting down denim that’s precisely you can be done, though, with the help of some insider knowledge.
We asked ten fashion editors, bloggers, and creatives to share their favorite spots for finding exactly what they want in jeans—from maternity to defined waists. Odds are, the qualities that make these denim purveyors a go-to align with what you’re looking for, and they’ll take you one step closer to discovering the denim you’ll never want to part with.

I wear my reading glasses more than any other accessory I own. They’re also probably the oldest item I wear regularly. I bought them ten years ago, and, at that point in time, I wasn’t thinking about how my eyewear would fit in with my personal style—I just needed to see my computer. Sure, they’re practical (square frames from Costco, which I chose because they’d match everything I owned at the time), but they’re not necessarily something I’m excited about every time I put them on. I just never felt compelled to replace them.
That’s changed only recently, as I’ve started to come across these incredibly stylish women on social media wearing aviators, cat-eyes, and wire-rimmed frames that feel fashionable, on top of being a necessity—part of an outfit, as opposed to simply an afterthought. I’m not just imagining this: The optical eyewear market growing rapidly, and is predicted to reach $136 billion in value by 2021. Glasses no longer have to be all utility, and designers know it.
Wanting to upgrade my everyday frames is one thing; sifting through the masses to find the perfect pair is another matter. So, I went to the very people who gave me eyewear envy in the first place—fashion editors, designers, models, stylists, creatives—to share their go-to’s for glasses. And it turns out there are plenty of places you can pick up readers with flair, from kitschy vintage cat-eyes to modern acetate frames.
Read on for fashion experts’ top suggestions for where I—and really, everyone—should look first for a new pair of glasses.

If you’ve been reaping the benefits of early access, you already know: The 2018 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is good. Every year, the massive cleanout comes at that point where we’re both looking to refresh our summer wardrobes and starting to think about fall fashion, but most of the bags currently on offer aren’t particularly seasonal. Translation: Go forth and shop right now for whatever season you choose. From classic Madewell bucket bags to designer picks from Kate Spade, Tory Burch, MCM, and Longchamp, here are 15 bags and wallets worth grabbing during Nordstrom’s early access period before they sell out.
Made from thick, soft cotton, this classic striped top features a boat neck and a loose shape. Perfect with summer jeans, skirts, shorts, or even tossed over a bathing suit. Comes in pink and blue, as well, also on sale.
When I’m in my workout clothes (which is normally on the weekend, with no plans of actually working out), I don’t like to call attention to myself. I want to be comfortable. I pick loose-fitting tops and sweatshirts in muted colors, to be worn with full-coverage, high-waisted black leggings and slide sandals. I rarely deviate from that formula or palette. When it comes to activewear, I’m not one to buy into trends or experiment with silhouettes, because I know what I like. (Truly, I own around seven variations of the same plain black leggings—help.) But for the first time since the dawn of athleisure, I’ve found myself wanting to abandon this habit in favor of something much, much more…colorful.
As with most of my shopping-habit deviations, Instagram is to blame: I, a black legging devotee, am suddenly in the market for rosy pink, magenta, or cherry red athletic sets—and that’s all thanks to the countless cute pictures of strangers wearing colorful bottoms and sports bras I’ve scrolled past over the past few weeks.
Two brands in particular have piqued my interest in colorful fitness wear: Outdoor Voices and Girlfriend Collective. Both have recently released styles in this color family. And as you probably gathered, they photograph quite well.
Though these companies are the ones that have sent me on this journey out of my athleisure comfort zone, I’ve found plenty of compelling athletic bottoms in the red-pink-blush color family from a range of brands (and price points), to jazz up my existing collection. So we can consider this quest for the perfect colorful leggings a success. (Also, I’ve learned that I’m truly powerless in the face of good old-fashioned Instagram bait—I can live with that, though.)
