No, Kim Kardashian Did Not Gift Daughter North West JFK's Blood-Stained Shirt for Christmas


Kim Kardashian is having to set the record straight after reports surfaced that she bought former President John F. Kennedy‘s blood-stained shirt for daughter North West as a Christmas gift.

The rumor all started after the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star revealed she and husband Kanye West purchased two items of clothing once worn by Michael Jackson as holiday gifts for their six-year-old child.

According to E! News, they picked up the late singer’s bejeweled velvet jacket, which he famously wore to Elizabeth Taylor’s 65th birthday in 1997, as well as the white fedora he wore in his “Smooth Criminal” music video in 1988 through Julien’s Auction House.

“North is a really big Michael Jackson fan,” Kardashian told fans in one of her Instagram Stories. “We knew she would love this.” She added: “She’s so grateful and excited.”

The reality star also bought rings that once belonged to Elvis Presley for her brother Rob Kardashian.

But social media users began turning Kardashian’s Christmas gifts into a meme, claiming she and West also purchased other ludicrous items for their daughter. Some Twitter users went as far to Photoshop fake pictures making it seem the couple also bought the exact same shirt JFK was wearing when he was assassinated while riding in his motorcade in Dallas, Texas, in 1963.

One photoshopped image made it look as if Kardashian had posted “the gift” to her Instagram Story with the caption, “Along with the Michael Jackson’s jacket and hat, North also got the shirt John F. Kennedy wore when he was assassinated.” Media outlets began picking up the story on December 30, assuming the gift was real, which again prompted fans on Twitter to circulate and react to the story.

Eventually the Skims founder was prompted to respond to the “obviously fake” news.

“That is a sick joke that someone tweeted as a fake ig story that I never posted,” Kim tweeted. (One of the media outlets who originally reported it, Refinery29, has since removed the image and the excerpt about the bloodied shirt from its original article.)

Lindy West Has a New Book, a Hit TV Show, and No Shortage of Opinions


To write her new book, Lindy West went where few women have dared to go before—deep, deep in to Adam Sandler’s oeuvre.

The 37-year-old author watched Happy Gilmore, Billy Madison, Little Nicky, The Wedding Singer, and more for a rigorous meditation titled, “Is Adam Sandler Funny?” West found the work exhausting, but she’s thorough when it comes to her research process. “That was a part of the book that sounded like it was going to be really fun. Because watching Adam Sandler movies and making fun of them is fun,” she tells Glamour. “But if it’s for work, it’s the last thing I want to do, so I watched them in big marathons.” (We thank her for her service.)

West’s latest book, The Witches Are Coming, excavates the corners of her brain. Her obsessions, irritations, and child heroes. Often, she does that with a test case, like Sandler, who stands in for general white male averageness. In another chapter, Joan Rivers become a symbol of how women can be broken into complicity. And the movie Clue serves as a launchpad to discuss superficial representations of women on film. The specificity is the genius. “I think it would be easy to dismiss [the book] as making broad generalizations based on analysis of too narrow a sliver of culture,” West allows. “But I tried to choose things that resonated with me.”

Still, even as West claims a modest area of focus, in fact the book’s preoccupations are vast and sometimes a delightful surprise. Topics include not just Sandler or Rivers, but Goop, Grumpy Cat, her viral hashtag, #ShoutYourAbortion, and the creation of her hit Hulu show, Shrill. (Let the countdown clock begin: Season two premieres on January 20, 2020.) Parts also pick up where her 2017 New York Times op-ed, “Yes, This Is a Witch Hunt. I’m a Witch and I’m Hunting You,” leaves off—eviscerating the men who dare to evoke the phrase “witch hunt” in the face of their overdue reckoning. Witch hunts, book readers will learn, is something West has been thinking about for ages.

“I had this thought about the term ‘witch hunt’ [while writing for Jezebel],” she explains. “That witch is a term that’s been traditionally used to discredit women, but as soon as men are feeling a little bit sad, then women become the witch hunters and men are the witches, being victimized. I was like, ‘Is there a way to turn this on its head?’ I remember pitching it and my editor was like, ‘That’s a little too spicy. I don’t think we can say that.'”

Flash forward to Donald Trump’s election and a cultural upheaval or two, and the pitch was published in the same newspaper that broke the first allegations against Harvey Weinstein. Her editor at the Times green lit it in an instant. West credits Jezebel and other feminist publications for helping to mainstream not just that level of snark (welcome in 2017), but an honesty about, as she puts it, “how bad our reality actually is.”

In The Witches Are Coming, West points to the fact that mere acknowledgment is an insufficient, but still essential kind of progress. One of the best sections of the book invokes her person experience pitching Shrill to television executives. (Shrill was first published as a book in 2016 and later adapted for Hulu, premiering last March. It stars Aidy Bryant.) West details in her new book how it felt to push for the show as a plus-size woman in a business still obsessed with thinness. “I remember going to all these meetings and having this anxious feeling, wondering if the chairs in the conference room would be too narrow for me to fit comfortably in the chair,” she says. “That’s an anxiety I have all the time, everywhere I go but there’s some extra stress involved because Hollywood is the place where a lot of these insecurities came from for me. This is the world that has taught us that there’s only one acceptable body type.”

People Are Accusing Kim Kardashian and Kanye West of Allegedly Mistreating Wildlife in Wyoming


Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are certainly no strangers to controversy. Justified or not, it’s practically a way of life for their extremely famous family. Whether it’s Kim getting mommy-shamed for letting their daughter North wear hoop earrings, being accused of cultural appropriation, or Kanye wearing MAGA hats and saying slavery was a choice, the couple makes headlines with pretty much everything they do, say, or post on social media.

The latest controversy comes after Kardashian posted an Instagram video at their new ranch in Wyoming — which TMZ reports cost around $14 million for 4500 acres— where West can be seen driving an ATV amongst a herd of wild antelope. In the video, the vehicle appears to be chasing the herd, upsetting fans and detractors alike for their treatment of the animals. Even Kardashian can be heard saying in the social media post, “I think you’re scaring them!!!”

TMZ reports that the Wyoming Game & Fish Dept. was informed about the video and “paid a visit to the manager of Kanye’s new ranch to make sure everyone is aware of the rules pertaining to wildlife.” (Animal harassment is outlawed in the state.) A source close to the couple told the outlet though that “they were simply cruising along when the animals came running by” and that there was no chase or harassment. Reportedly, no formal complaint was actually filed.

That didn’t stop social media users from getting upset about the video. “Kim can posts as many nudes as she wants. Kanye can put that Christian choir on whatever hook he wants.. I’ll tell you what- Antelope chasing is where I draw the line!!,” one tweeted. “What in the name of $*&% were they thinking? I think my blood pressure just pinned in the red,” another penned.

Neither West nor Kardashian has publicly addressed the matter.

Taylor Swift Just Spilled So Many Details About Her Feud With Kanye West


Taylor Swift‘s feud with Kanye West has been well-documented over the years, starting with that infamous speech interruption from the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. The latest chapter of this saga happened in 2016, when West included a lyric about Swift in his song “Famous,” calling her “that bitch.” Swift took issue with that specific phrase, but West’s wife, Kim Kardashian, contested the “Lover” singer actually approved the track. She leaked a phone conversation between West and Swift on Snapchat to prove her point, but it didn’t really work. The footage shows the two artists talking about the song, yes, but not the lyric Swift didn’t like. There’s been tension ever since.

Swift hasn’t really given her side of this story, until now. In a new interview with Rolling Stone, she spilled some tea about the feud seen round the world. She told the magazine that “the world didn’t understand the context and the events that led up to” the Snapchat incident. Here’s what she said, in full:

“Some events took place to cause me to be pissed off when he called me a bitch. That was not just a singular event. Basically, I got really sick of the dynamic between he and I. And that wasn’t just based on what happened on that phone call and with that song—it was kind of a chain reaction of things.

“I started to feel like we reconnected, which felt great for me—because all I ever wanted my whole career after that thing happened in 2009 was for him to respect me. When someone doesn’t respect you so loudly and says you literally don’t deserve to be here—I just so badly wanted that respect from him, and I hate that about myself, that I was like, ‘This guy who’s antagonizing me, I just want his approval.’ But that’s where I was. And so we’d go to dinner and stuff. And I was so happy, because he would say really nice things about my music. It just felt like I was healing some childhood rejection or something from when I was 19.

“But the 2015 VMAs come around. He’s getting the Vanguard Award. He called me up beforehand—I didn’t illegally record it, so I can’t play it for you. But he called me up, maybe a week or so before the event, and we had maybe over an hourlong conversation, and he’s like, ‘I really, really would like for you to present this Vanguard Award to me, this would mean so much to me,’ and went into all the reasons why it means so much, because he can be so sweet. He can be the sweetest. And I was so stoked that he asked me that. And so I wrote this speech up, and then we get to the VMAs and I make this speech and he screams, ‘MTV got Taylor Swift up here to present me this award for ratings!’ [Editor’s note: Rolling Stone clarified his exact words were “You know how many times they announced Taylor was going to give me the award ’cause it got them more ratings?”] And I’m standing in the audience with my arm around his wife, and this chill ran through my body. I realized he is so two-faced. That he wants to be nice to me behind the scenes, but then he wants to look cool, get up in front of everyone, and talk shit. And I was so upset.

“He wanted me to come talk to him after the event in his dressing room. I wouldn’t go. So then he sent this big, big thing of flowers the next day to apologize. And I was like, ‘You know what? I really don’t want us to be on bad terms again. So whatever, I’m just going to move past this.’ So when he gets on the phone with me, and I was so touched that he would be respectful and, like, tell me about this one line in the song.”

Kim Kardashian Says She 'Got in Trouble' With Kanye West for Letting Daughter North Wear Lipstick


Kim Kardashian seems like a pretty cool mom: Despite her busy schedule, she appears to spend plenty of time doting on her children, bringing them along for epic vacations, and ensuring they have plenty of time with the rest of the Kardashian-Jenner dynasty. But, there’s one thing she does as a mom that apparently infuriates her husband, Kanye West: She’s been known to let daughter North West, 6, wear lipstick from time to time.

Since her birth, North has followed in her mom’s stylish footsteps, often wearing pieces from her own wardrobe of designer clothes. She’s been spotted rocking a $750 Alexander Wang Marti Micro leopard-print shoulder bag to school (I mean, who would say no if that were sent to them?) and walked the runway at Los Angeles Fashion Week. And, on special occasions, she’s been spotted wearing bright red lipstick a time or two.

Kim’s been mom-shamed for her decision to let her young daughter wear makeup in the past. In 2018, little North was spotted with a red lip that Kim later revealed was part of Kim’s very own line. “She picked it,” Kim explained on Twitter.

But now, Kim says, Kanye has had enough with North’s makeup.

“She loves makeup but her dad won’t let her wear it,” Kim recently shared with E! News. “I think he had it, he changed all the rules. I’d let her wear, you know, she has a little red for Christmas, I’d let her wear a red lip, or I’d let her do one pop of something. I’d let her, if she’s wearing a black dress, a black lip.”

Kim also shared that she’s not the only member of the Kardashian-Jenner family that Kanye may have to worry about when it comes to giving their children makeup to play with.

“Kylie would give her all of these lip kits, so I kind of got in trouble for that,” she said. “So, it’s now no more makeup.”

However, Kim also shared that her eldest child can still “weigh in” on her mom’s fashion choices—so we’re sure to have peeks at North’s taste-making skills for years to come, lipstick or no.

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, Average Americans, Ate at Cheesecake Factory Twice in a Row


Kim Kardashian going to—or even just talking about—chain restaurants is one of my favorite pop-culture subcategories. What? You didn’t realize this was a thing? Well, you’ve been missing out, my friend. I’ll always remember when she opened up about her Chipotle order a few years back, plainly saying, “I always get a Diet Coke from the fountain with LOTS of ice. If they don’t put enough ice in it, I die.” Or when she confirmed that she “ALWAYS” orders a side of small fries at McDonald’s. Always. She probably “dies” if that also doesn’t happen.

So you can imagine my pure elation when news came out today (August 28) that Kardashian, Kanye West, and their children dined at the Cheesecake Factory two times in a row while visiting Dayton, Ohio over the weekend. (They were there for West’s Sunday Services.) According to People magazine, the famous family had several dishes while eating at the popular chain, including a slice of its famous Strawberry Cheesecake.

A fan named Kayla snapped photos of the Kardashian-Wests getting their cheesecake on, and they’re as iconic as you’d expect. Check them out for yourself, below.

I’m not sure what piece of information is more delicious: the fact that Kim Kardashian and Kanye West ate at Cheesecake Factory at all, or the fact they went twice. Have you ever been to Cheesecake Factory? It’s incredible, yes, but so, so filling. It’s the type of place even the most devoted chain restaurant-goers can only handle eating at once in a while. So to go there back-to-back is some serious dedication to cheesecake.

To be honest, I can absolutely picture a world where Kardashian had never heard of Cheesecake Factory until she ate there in Ohio—and then became so infatuated with it, she had to go again immediately. “Babe, have you ever heard of this place called Cheesecake Factory?” Kim asked Kanye, in my imagination. “They, like, sell pasta and tacos and, like, these giant pieces of cheesecake. I’m dying.”

I can’t wait to see how Keeping Up With the Kardashians documents this culinary experience.
