Sarah Hyland Just Gave Wells Adams a Buzzcut, and It Actually Looks Great

If there’s one thing Sarah Hyland and fiancé Wells Adams have going for them, it’s trust.

Like Miley Cyrus and Cody Simpson before them, Adams put the fate of his hair in the Modern Family star’s hands by asking her to shave his head. Don’t worry, though: They made sure to document the entire experience on April 7 via Instagram Stories.

“This has gotten to be too much,” the Bachelor in Paradise bartender said of his curls before asking Hyland how many times she’s cut a man’s hair. Her response, dear reader, is zero times. The suspense is killing you, I’m sure.

Here goes nothin’! Hyland went in on the side of Adams’s head with clippers, shortened for your viewing pleasure in a hyperlapse video. Unlike Cyrus, Hyland didn’t take off all her man’s hair, and she didn’t have any outside help. Oh, and Hyland didn’t follow up by cutting her own hair to match the infamous mullet of Tiger King’s Joe Exotic. (Yeah, check out Cyrus’s new look, here.)

The results? Pretty great for a first-timer. “She did a pretty good job,” Adams said with a smile.

Sarah Hyland and Wells Adams are a pretty adorable couple. The pair first met after Hyland tweeted about her crush on the Bachelorette contestant back in 2016, and they continued to flirt back and forth.

According to Hyland’s recent interview with Cosmopolitan, they went on about two dates before he made his first grand, Bachelor Nation–worthy gesture. After Hyland underwent her second kidney transplant in September 2017, Adams flew from Nashville to L.A. on the weekends to spend time with her during her recovery. Yes, he met the parents almost immediately.

Still, Hyland was the one who made the first move towards DTR. “I asked him when he was going to ask me to be his girlfriend,” she said in the interview. “I’m impatient.” The rest is history, and Adams proposed on a beach (of course it was a beach) in July 2019.

I love love.

Sarah Hyland and Wells Adams’s Wedding: Everything We Know So Far

Back in July, Sarah Hyland announced that Bachelorette star Wells Adams, her boyfriend of two years, proposed during a romantic beach vacation. The happy couple shared tons of photos on Instagram that showed exactly how their sweet engagement went down.”That can’t eat, can’t sleep, reach for the stars, over the fence, world series kind of stuff,” Hyland captioned a photo that shows Adams kneeling next to her.

Since then, the couple has started planning the wedding slowly but surely. They’ve both talked a bit about what the planning process has been like, and some of the details about the big day are finally starting to emerge. Here’s everything we know so far about their upcoming nuptials:

The date: So there’s no official marker on the calendar yet, but originally Adams said on the Your Favorite Thing podcast with Brandi Cyrus that they wanted to take their time. He‘s said that it’ll definitely be a lengthy, traditional wedding planning process. “It will be, like, well over a year. I mean, we haven’t figured out anything, you know?” he said shortly after the proposal. “Phase 1 was just, like, get engaged. We’re still in Phase 1.”

Still, it does seem like Hyland is at least starting to look at Pinterest boards, so there’s definitely some movement on Phase 2. Recently she said in an Instagram Story, “While Wells goes and does the rehearsal part of this wedding that we’re at…I’m totally not lying in bed stalking wedding and bridal Instagram accounts while watching Say Yes to the Dress.” Adams guessed as much during an interview with ET. “Sarah is going to be, like, Pinterest boards and vision boards, and a lot of Elmer’s glue is going to be involved,” he said. “So I think we’re just holding off on that.”

The rings: No word yet on the bands, but we can glean a few ideas from Hyland’s engagement ring. Adams proposed to her with a massive oval diamond ring made by Lorraine Schwartz, but Hyland has been pretty honest about the fact that she knew what she wanted from the beginning. Back in 2018 she told ET that she’d been browsing rings: “Um, I’m a 27-year-old woman, of course I have,” she said, adding, “He knows what it is, so it’s fine.”

The bridal party: Hyland has a lot of close Hollywood buds, but she’s found a bridesmaid in her longtime friend Vanessa Hudgens. In an Instagram Story (there are a few screenshots here), Hudgens shared that Hyland asked her to be a part of her wedding party. She also did it in a really cute way: The screenshots show that Hyland sent Hudgens a bridal box wrapped in lots of white ribbon. She took a photo of the box and added a bridesmaid graphic.

Sarah Hyland and Wells Adams Are Engaged—and Her Ring Is Stunning

After nearly two years of dating, Sarah Hyland and Bachelor Nation fan favorite Wells Adams are engaged. Hyland shared the news on her Instagram Tuesday (July 16), posting a photo of Adams popping the question on a gorgeous beach.

“That can’t eat, can’t sleep, reach for the stars, over the fence, world series kind of stuff ✨❤️ @wellsadams,” Hyland wrote in the post caption, which also includes more engagement photos and a look at her stunning engagement ring.

Adams responded to Hyland’s announcement by writing, “It takes two! Well 5 including the doggos! Love you more bab….fiancé!” He also shared some photos of the engagement to his own Instagram account. “I’ll be Johnny, you be June. But forever,” he wrote in the caption, to which Hyland commented back, “I love you to Pluto and back FIANCÉ!!!! When we get married will I automatically acquire your talent for making everyone cry with a homemade video?”

She’s referring to the video Adams somehow captured of himself proposing. Watch it, below, and try not to cry.

And here’s Hyland’s Instagram announcement:

It was first reported in October 2017 that Sarah Hyland and Wells Adams were dating. She more or less confirmed the relationship a few days later by posting a photo of the two of them with the caption, “He puts up with me.”

The couple famously met on social media. They had some cute banter back and forth on Twitter before Adams “slid into my DMs,” as Hyland put it to Jimmy Kimmel in 2018. “[He told me] ‘Next time I’m in LA, I’m taking you out for drinks and tacos,’“ Hyland recalled. “I love tacos. He loves tacos, so that was his thing. Like, ‘I love tacos, let’s see if she loves tacos.’ We both love tacos! We have an obsession with tacos. Tacos and tequila, that’s our thing.”

Is that a hint about the wedding menu? Only time will tell. But for now, congrats!

Wells Adams Had the Perfect Response to Someone Who Body-Shamed Sarah Hyland

Unfortunately, Sarah Hyland has found herself on the receiving end of Instagram trolling many times. She has no problem shutting down the haters herself, but her boyfriend Wells Adams stepped in for her latest bout of bullying, which happened on Sunday (October 21).

The incident happened on Instagram, of course. Hyland uploaded a photo of herself (that Adams took) in which she’s wearing a seventies-inspired gold chain-mail-esque bikini with a gold body chain, oversized hoop earrings, and trendy round sunglasses. “Blue frames. Blue skies. Even bluer ocean,” she captioned the dreamy pic. Unfortunately, it wasn’t long before the trolling comments rolled in.

“Me, I’m the type of fan who really concerned. You look really unhealthy. Being that skinny can’t be safe,” on person posted, which was captured by the social account Comments By Celebs.

Adams swiftly came to Hyland’s defense, though. “You, your the type of fan who’s a d**che bag.”

See the post for yourself, below:

This isn’t the first time Adams has come to Hyland’s defense. He told a commenter on Instagram to “eat sh*t” after they suggested to Hyland that she “eat a donut.” And over the summer, he and Hyland teamed up to epically shut down another troll. “I would like to put in a request for anyone who is concerned about my bread consumption to send it to Wells Adams, because he is the sole person who knows about how much bread I consume on a daily basis. Thanks! Love you, mean it. ‘K, bye,” Hyland posted on Instagram Stories back in July. A couple who claps back together stays together.

Wells Adams Tells Us What's Happened Between Him and Danielle M. Since 'Bachelor in Paradise'

Just like a DVR that cuts off the last two minutes of your favorite show or when you miss a UPS delivery by a minute, Wells kissing Danielle M. right before she left on Bachelor in Paradise was maddening enough to give up the show altogether. Think about it: The most authentic and passionate kiss on this show happened right before our eyes, and then she just…left! How do you walk away from that?! (OK, yes, I know she was leaving for a good cause: to do pediatric work in Africa.)

But maybe the movie—er, the love story—isn’t over yet. Bachelor in Paradise finished filming less than two months ago, and Danielle is already back in Nashville (where, conveniently, Wells resides too). And as of August 22, the two were pictured together celebrating newlyweds Carly Waddell and Evan Bass’s baby news.

Now, Wells and Danielle have been close for years; just because rumors are swirling and the Internet is freaking out about a potential romance doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be able to hang out anymore as friends. But, really, who has this kind of a kiss and doesn’t give a relationship a try?

So, I went straight to the source—that would be Wells—to get to the bottom of that kiss and find out if there’s truly hope for these two.

Glamour: That kiss between you and Danielle was hotter than the weather in Mexico. When did you know you were going to kiss her?

Wells Adams: Probably long before the show started, to be fair. Danielle and I have been friends for years. I went on The Bachelorette, and she went on The Bachelor, and I remember thinking, “Oh, this is weird. We’re both doing the same thing. If there was ever a world in which we were on the same show, I think I’d want to make that happen.” I think she probably felt the same way. We went on a date years ago and nothing ever materialized from it, so it was one of those things where we gotta see what it is like. When she was leaving, it was like, “I might as well do it now.”

Glamour: She gave us her reaction on camera immediately after, but we never heard from you.

Wells: I don’t really talk about it on the show. [And until the rest of the cast saw it on TV] no one knows that I did it!

Glamour: Why didn’t you tell anyone else?

Wells: Well, because the first thing I said when I got there was, “I’m not here to date anyone. I’m not here to go on dates. I’m not here to steal anyone’s girl.” I didn’t want to tell everyone that and then have them be like, “Oh my God, he’s totally full of crap. He’s going to try and hook up with who I’m dating.” Also, there’s a little bit of fun of knowing what everyone’s reaction will be when they see it air—not only the people on the show, but also back home in Nashville [where Danielle and I live]. [I knew] our little group of friends were going to freak out when they saw that.

Glamour: So here’s the big question: Is there hope for you two?

Wells: Yes, there’s definitely hope for us. Everyone needs to put everything into perspective, though. Everyone was dating on the show and being romantic. Our little story [between me and Danielle] started at the end of it [when she was about to leave]. And then she went to Africa for a couple weeks, so we were way behind. I realize America is really shipping this thing, but we are so far away from that, mainly because we haven’t been around one another. It’s a weird thing coming home and watching the show back and feeling so much pressure from everyone else to make something you’re not sure is there to begin with. And I think the magnetism needs to happen naturally and not forced from outside forces. I understand everyone wants us to be a thing and that’s wonderful and beautiful, but if it’s going to happen, it needs to happen because we come together, not because everyone else is shipping us so hard on Twitter.

Glamour: When did you first talk to her after she got back from Africa?

Wells: I never had to give up my phone in Paradise, so once she left and got her phone back, we talked like hours afterwards.

Glamour: And I assume you talked about the kiss, so what did you say?

Wells: I think she said, “I always wondered what that would be like.” I said, “I always wondered what that was going to be like!” And then I think I said, “How was it for you?” I think she said, “It was a lot better than I thought it was going to be!” [Laughs]

Glamour: Was there talk about when is this going to happen again?

Wells: It was like, “Alright, what is your itinerary?” So I said, “When you get back to Nashville, we’ll figure it out.”

Glamour: So have you figured it out?

Wells: No. I mean, literally she just got back a couple weeks ago.

Glamour: OK, but that’s a couple weeks ago already!

Wells: But we’re now out in Los Angeles…let’s just see where this is going to go. We’re right now in the middle of this storm [of media attention], and it’s a little awkward and weird. Before this, we used to go out all the time and we were just friends. We’d go to show’s together. Now when you go out, it’s a little weird because people recognize us and assume something. That just makes things awkward. So there are a lot of questions that need to be answered internally between us before we figure out what’s going on.

Glamour: Let’s talk about the puppets for a second, which you clearly are skilled in. Were you at all worried how the rest of the cast would react?

Wells: I think the reason why I was a really good bartender was because no one took me seriously. That’s just my personality. Any of these people would agree that Wells is the class clown guy. I never told anyone about the puppets either, so I was really excited to see what they’d say about that [when it aired].

Glamour: And?

Wells: Everyone loves it! It’s hilarious! It’s the stupidest thing in the world, and it’s so funny! And it gives nice context to a very…such a crazy situation that I can give context to in like 10 seconds of puppetry, which is nice.

Glamour: So if there was a puppet version of Danielle and Wells, would they get their happy ending? Do you want to see this happen? [Laughs]

Wells: I would like all puppets to be happy and find happiness. We’ll see! Who knows? I’ve got no answers for you, even though I know you want them.

Glamour: Then how about this: Is this the end of your Bachelor journey, or do you see yourself participating in more of the franchise spin-offs? More Paradise, or Winter Games, or even as The Bachelor one day?

Wells: They haven’t asked me, but I will never ever quit the bartending job [on Paradise]. That was my favorite thing I’ve ever gotten to do. I used to bartend in college, and that was the most fun experience of my life.

The Bachelor in Paradise finale airs next Monday night at 8 P.M. ET on ABC.
