The Weeknd Reportedly Scheduled His Tour Around Selena Gomez's Kidney Transplant

The Weeknd (a.k.a. Abel Tesfaye) may make a good Instagram husband for Selena Gomez, but that’s just a small reason why he’s a good partner for her. One big one, however? His support for Selena Gomez during her struggles with her health.

The “Fetish” singer recently revealed in an emotional Instagram post that she underwent a kidney transplant this summer. While her friend Francia Raisa was the one who selflessly donated the kidney, it seems her boyfriend of almost a year was also an incredibly supportive figure throughout the emotional and physically painful time. According to People, the R&B singer even scheduled his performances around Selena’s surgery and recovery.

Though Selena has not revealed the exact date of her surgery, we do know that The Weeknd had some breaks in his tour schedule this summer; per People, he was initially announced as a performer for the 2017 MTV VMAs on August 27, but he did not appear, making fans speculate it was so he could spend more time with Gomez. (The two have been spotted on several dates around New York City over the summer—even reportedly moving in together and getting a puppy—so the speculation is fitting.)

Furthermore, TMZ is reporting that Selena went in to kidney failure in May as a result of complications from lupus, a disease that causes the body’s immune system to attack its own organs and tissues. Selena was reportedly suffering while visiting The Weeknd on tour in Chicago and Abel was “right by her side.” (TMZ adds that at that point Selena was already on a kidney transplant list.)

The Weeknd has yet to say anything publicly about his girlfriend’s health, but he has been showing his love and support in more subtle ways as of late. Glad to see Selena has a strong support system to help her recover.

Selena Gomez and The Weeknd Have Reportedly Moved in Together

Selena Gomez and The Weeknd (a.k.a. Abel Tesfaye) have been dating for less than one year, but they’re already taking their relationship to the next level.

According to Entertainment Tonight, the couple has moved in together—temporarily. The two singers are reportedly sharing an apartment in New York City’s Greenwich Village while Selena Gomez is filming an untitled Woody Allen project. And Selena won’t have to worry about her weird work hours affecting Tesfaye’s sleep schedule because he’s currently on tour anyway.

The source says the couple is living in a “low-rise luxury building in the heart of the Village,” and the “ultra high-end apartment” features 11.6-foot ceilings, Juliette glass balconies, and English kitchens; similar units in the building have reportedly been rented for $16,000 a month or more. There has also reportedly been nothing but love between the couple and their new temporary neighbors. ET‘s source says, “They’ve both been very gracious to the neighbors and seem very happy with their living arrangement.”

Selena and Tesfaye have been taking over New York recently (and haven’t been shy about the PDA). They recently slayed their second red carpet appearance together at the Harper’s Bazaar Celebration of Icons By Carine Roitfeld. Plus, they’ve gone on lots of casual restaurant dates wearing matching outfits, as couples do.

The two also reportedly purchased a puppy together—yet another huge relationship milestone. A full house, indeed.

The Weeknd Is the Perfect Instagram Husband for Selena Gomez

With New York Fashion Week in full swing, celebs gathered to celebrate at the Harper’s Bazaar Icons party Friday night. Buzzy stars walked the red carpet; Kendall Jenner wore a naked dress; and Selena Gomez and The Weeknd showed off just how in love they are (also proven by the adorable puppy they got together this week). But we’re not just judging by the official pics from the night: they also caught a cute moment on the ‘gram courtesy of The Weeknd being the best Instagram Husband like, ever.

Of course, the couple would go on to get cozy on the Icons red carpet—we all know they’re not exactly afraid of a little PDA. Remember their handsy Met Gala debut, where they stepped out as an official couple for the first time? They couldn’t keep their hands to themselves Friday night either, and frankly, it’s making us believe in love all over again.

And then there was this cute behind-the-scenes moment: check out The Weeknd in the mirror doing the time-honored Instagram Husband crouch-and-shoot with truly excellent form. (Selena looks so rock ‘n’ roll in his jacket, too.)

It’s definitely not the first time the two of them have obsessed over each other via social media. The Weeknd has been known to stalk Selena on Instagram, and Selena posted the sweetest Instagram story when her BF was on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar. Given their general level of cute, we’d say we can’t, but the truth is we can. Keep it up, you beautiful lovebirds.

Selena Gomez Shares Photo From Date Night With The Weeknd

Selena Gomez isn’t letting an Instagram hack keep her from sharing cute pics. One week after all of her Insta posts were deleted and briefly replaced with nude photos of ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber, Gomez has (thankfully) regained full control of her account and is back to her old habit of posting sweet snaps of The Weeknd.

On Tuesday morning, the “Fetish” singer uploaded a photo of her and The Weeknd (a.k.a. Abel Tesfaye) lounging in a restaurant booth. In the pic, Gomez wears a black T-shirt, gold hoop earrings, and a gold watch and smiles at the camera, while her BF keeps his arm around her but stares off into the distance at what we can only assume is a waiter approaching the booth with a tray full of food. (And as Elle points out, it seems Gomez even changed her phone background to a pic from the same night.)

The post captures just one adorable moment from the multiday lovefest the duo shared in New York City over Labor Day Weekend. According to Entertainment Tonight, Gomez, 25, and Tesfaye, 27, sported coordinating all-black ensembles while walking around NYC’s SoHo neighborhood and eating at Lure Fishbar on Saturday, then were spotted leaving high-end eatery Nobu together on Monday. Also on Saturday, fans spotted the pair playing with dogs at a pet store in the city, where the pop stars climbed into the cages for maximum puppy cuddling.

Gomez and Tesfaye have been dating since early this year and went public with their romance at Coachella in April. In the September 2017 issue of InStyle, Gomez opened up about why she feels so secure in her current relationship. “I don’t depend on one area of my life to make me happy. It’s really important for me to love and nourish my friends and family and to make sure that I never get influenced by a guy,” she said. “I’ve wanted to be in a strong headspace for years, and I really wasn’t. Before, I was so young and easily influenced, and I’d feel insecure. You want someone to add to your life, not to complete you, if that makes sense. I’m lucky because he’s more of a best friend than anything else.”

It’s pretty obvious why: Gomez and The Weeknd really enjoy showing their love for each other in public (and on social media), which makes “Hands to Myself” the perfect theme song for their relationship. Is it cheesy? Sure! Are we going to keep saying it? Absolutely! It’s what the pop-music gods want! From Disneyland to the Met Gala, the Weeknd and Gomez’s PDA is worldwide—and we’re 100 percent here for it.

The Weeknd Is Really Into Whatever Selena Gomez's "Not-So-Secret" Project Is


Selena Gomez and The Weeknd are adorably guilty of social media PDA: they use Instagram Stories to brag about the other’s successes, post Snapchats of each other’s photoshoots and magazine covers, and can 100-percent count on the other for a heart on just about any pic they upload. The Weeknd’s also been known to deep-like Selena’s Instas, which makes him about a hundred times more relatable.

The latest evidence of their infatuation? Makeup artist Hung Vanngo posted pics of Selena in hair and makeup for a “not so secret” project she’s currently working on—and either The Weeknd really likes to keep tabs on the latest in celebrity beauty or he’s so excited for Selena, he went so far as to like the finished look on her pro’s page.

But really, how couldn’t he: Selena’s wet-look hair and bright red lips are gorgeous (not to mention those earrings). It’s pretty cute. After all, Insta-stalking your S.O. is one thing, but creepin’ on over to their makeup artist’s Insta feed to declare your appreciation for them is true devotion.

We mortals, meanwhile, can’t wait to see what this not-so-secret project of hers is—word on the street is that it’s for her next music video, but there’s still no confirmation on that so far.
