Emmys 2018 Intro: 'We Solved It' Calls Out Hollywood for Thinking It Fixed Diversity Issues


The nominees for the 2018 Emmys are more diverse than ever, with shows like Atlanta, Insecure, and The Handmaid’s Tale racking up multiple categories. Sandra Oh is the first Asian woman to be nominated for a lead actress award for Killing Eve (which you absolutely should check out if you haven’t already). That being said, the industry still has a long way to go. While the nominations this year show we’re heading in a better direction, Hollywood is still by and large dominated by white men, both in front of and behind the camera. It’s important not to lose sight of that.

Don’t worry, though: Kristen Bell, Keenan Thompson, Kate McKinnon, Ricky Martin, Sterling K. Brown, and Tituss Burgess are here to make sure showbiz titans don’t pat themselves on the back too hard. These performers and more appeared in a musical intro at the beginning of tonight’s show that relayed an important message: Just because we’ve made progress in one or two areas doesn’t mean diversity is “fixed.”

One of the highlights of the musical number was when RuPaul came on stage to hammer home the fact that a few LGBTQ+ people or actors of color appearing on hit TV shows isn’t the cure for Hollywood’s diversity problem.

Other memorable moments included when Thompson and McKinnon gave a hat-tip to Sandra Oh’s historic nomination and Oh just said, “It’s an honor just to be Asian,” in response. And at one point, Andy Samberg descended from the stage and asked if there was room for a straight white man in this song—and I think you can deduce how that (hilariously) panned out.

Khloé Kardashian's Pregnancy Announcement Has People Thinking She's Engaged, Too


Khloé Kardashian set the Internet on fire Wednesday night (December 20) when she finally announced that she and Tristan Thompson are expecting their first child. “My greatest dream realized! We are having a baby! I had been waiting and wondering but God had a plan all along,” Khloé wrote in her Instagram post, which came after months of rumors and speculation.

Khloé chose to to share the news with a black and white photo of her and Thompson holding hands over her baby bump. It’s stunning, naturally, but there’s one detail in it that you may not have noticed. Take a look at Khloé’s ring finger in the bottom right section of the photo. See anything suspicious? A ring perhaps?

Yes, Khloé appears to be wearing a big, splashy ring on that finger, which has many of her fans convinced she’s engaged. “Is Khloe K engaged?” one fan asked on Twitter shortly after seeing the engagement photo. “Wait?!! What!! So is @khloekardashian engaged/ married too? I see the ring,” another one wrote. One fan is so convinced Khloé’s engaged that they didn’t even present it as a question: “And I also see a ring on her finger she’s engaged omg omg,” they wrote.

Of course, it’s important not to jump the gun on this news yet. If Khloé’s pregnancy reveal tells us anything, it’s that Kardashian news isn’t official until the family confirms it themselves.

“I still at times can’t believe that our love created life,” Khloé also wrote on Instagram. “Tristan, thank you for loving me the way that you do! Thank you for treating me like a Queen! Thank you for making me feel beautiful at all stages.”

Kris Jenner Says 'It's a Little Too Early' to Start Thinking About a Kardashian Kids Spinoff

With so many new Kardashian/Jenners on their way into the world, it was only a matter of time before someone asked the question on all our reality-show-loving minds. Variety recently spoke to Kris Jenner about whether or not she’d try to do a Keeping Up With the Kardashians about the next Kardashian generation—her grandkids (both unborn and not)—and she didn’t say yes…but she also didn’t say no.

“I think that’s kind of pushing the envelope,” said Kris. “I think it’s a little too early to start thinking about them. They’re amazing and when they’re around they are in the show, but I think it’s a little too early for them to have any kind of spinoff.” True, the six kids born since the show started are all still in their single-digit years and many more are still on the way. But when talking about spinoffs in general, Kris said, “There’s always a spinoff,” so, maybe?

Kardashians: The Next Generation might sound a little far-fetched right now, but think about it: The oldest grandchild, Kourtney’s son Mason, is eight. Kylie, the youngest of the original crew, was nine when KUWTK began filming. And most of the grandkids have made appearances on the show already.

And while the babies themselves don’t generate much drama, the having of the babies is always a major storyline. With Kylie and Khloé both reportedly expecting their first children and Kim and Kanye due to welcome a third via surrogate soon, the babies will likely dominate any upcoming Kardashian press. In fact, a year from now, Kendall will be the only Kardashian/Jenner who isn’t a parent. (Uh, unless all the reports are wrong—Kim, what is happening?!)

Of course, there will be no need to reboot the series if it never stops airing in its original form, which, honestly, sounds likely. KUWTK‘s fourteenth season will premiere on Sunday, October 1, at 9 p.m. ET on the E! network.

This Tweet Has Everyone Thinking Peter Kraus Isn't the Next 'Bachelor'


A huge portion of Bachelor Nation was annoyed after Rachel Lindsay gave her final rose to Bryan Abasolo. But the silver lining to this was Peter Kraus—sweet, amazing, perfect Peter—became an option for the next Bachelor. And fans really wanted this to happen! With his gapped teeth and his wine nights and his realistic love timeline, Kraus is the Bachelor America desperately needs but doesn’t deserve. I’m not kidding when I say #MakePeterTheBachelor became a battle cry just seconds after The Bachelorette ended.

But it looks like this isn’t happening. Mike Fleiss, the creator of The Bachelor (and, ironically, the producer of two Texas Chainsaw Massacre remakes), tweeted a vague-but-pointed message Thursday (August 17) that seems to suggest Kraus isn’t our next suitor. “Do we really want a Bachelor who isn’t ready to settle down with a woman he loves? Hmmm. Not what #thebachelor is all about,” Fleiss wrote. See it for yourself, below:

Granted, this tweet doesn’t call out Kraus by name or confirm anything directly, but read between the lines. Kraus’ entire storyline this season was that he loved Rachel and was ready for a serious relationship—but he didn’t want to propose. Kraus needed more time, but Lindsay wanted a ring. This ultimately drove the couple apart.

The Bachelor and The Bachelorette are shows that sell a very particular type of fairytale—and that fairytale, typically, ends with an engagement. If Kraus isn’t willing to go there—or at least fake it, let’s be honest—then it probably knocks him out of the running. In this tweet, “settle down” is most likely code for “proposing”—something we know Kraus isn’t keen on doing after just a few weeks. Ergo, The Bachelor (probably) isn’t in his immediate future. Noooo!

People magazine confirmed this even more in its story about Fleiss’ tweet. The magazine spoke to a source who says, yes, Fleiss’ message is “absolutely” aimed at Kraus.

“Peter is every Bachelor producer’s worst nightmare: the perfect guy who cannot be coerced into proposing at the end,” the source told People. “The fact that no one could talk Peter into buckling under and just giving her the ring—and that he wouldn’t play along—absolutely enraged the higher-ups at the show. Including Fleiss, definitely. He is totally on their s— list forever, and there is no way they will reward him with a shot at The Bachelor. No way.”

It should be a crime to use “Peter” and “nightmare” in the same sentence, to be honest.
