Hunter x Target: Here's What You Should Buy First From This Buzzy Collaboration

Think of the brand Hunter, and rubber rain boots (or “wellies”) come to mind. Its heritage weatherproof footwear has garnered a cult following and a fashionable fan base—hi, Kate Moss—particularly around festival season, when many concert-goers stomp around the mud and terrain in its shoes. As festivals like Coachella start up this year, Hunter is releasing one of its biggest brand expansions to date: an affordable spring collaboration with Target.

Hunter for Target is available at select Target stores and online starting today, a collection that spans clothing, footwear, and accessories. A testament to how much the British label’s offerings have grown in recent seasons, customers can pick up sheer raincoats, metallic bomber jackets, sateen rompers, and sporty mesh dresses, as well as pool slides and, yes, rubber rain boots, as part of this collaboration.

“When I came into Hunter [in 2013], we were 98% or 99% rubber boots—and out of that 98%, it was basically one style, in two color ways,” Hunter Creative Director Alasdhair Willis tells Glamour. “We’ve been quite wide in our aesthetic and the color palette [with this collaboration]… The concept really lends itself to a level of fun.”We bring you the trends. You make them your own.

Willis says that Target was an obvious partner for Hunter’s first-ever collaboration, as both entities share a fun-loving, experience-oriented sensibility: “The thing that really resonates from Target, which is what we’re really all about, is this idea of fun, optimism, and really pushing that sense of the everyday adventure. I think that sort of struck a chord with myself when I first met the Target team.”

From a consumer perspective, Mark Tritton, Target’s Chief Merchandising Officer, thinks that rings true: Even if customers didn’t own Hunter boots already, they definitely know of their value. “Our guest research showed that [Hunter] was number one in terms of the brand recall and attitude towards the brand, so it was just a slam dunk,” he says.

Like many of Target’s past sell-out fashion partnerships, every item in the Hunter For Target collection is under $100. (Wellies reminiscent of those beloved by Kate Moss? Only $40!) The collaboration is “a journey in expression for the brand, and a much wider play than they would get,” Tritton says. “We had no boundaries when we sat down together: We could just express things that the brand has never played with, but make complete sense with its DNA.”

“Ultimately, the spirits of our brands are pretty well-aligned and that is usually quite rare in a collaboration,” Willis adds. “Out of the two collaborators, there’s usually one that has a bit of a power play in some way over the other and I think with this collaboration, that just wasn’t the case. When we come together, it really feels genuine.”

On final tally, the Hunter For Target collection includes nearly three hundred items. (“But it could have been three thousand!” Willis says.) So we went ahead and picked out a few items to get you started—though you’ll want to add them to your cart sooner rather than later: These collaborations have a history of selling out quick.

Cyber Week Is Coming to Target, and Our Wallets Are Ready for It

It’s a well-known phenomenon in the world of retail that you walk into Target for a toothbrush and then, an hour later, walk out with a tube of Burt’s Bees, some Pixi lip balm, a new throw pillow, a pair of knee-high boots—and the toothbrush. This week, however, our bank accounts will be much happier with us, thanks to one of Target’s biggest sales yet this year: Instead of just giving us one day of shopping glory on Cyber Monday, the retailer is doing sales all week long. Behold, Cyber Week.

Sure, Target just got done basically gifting us with Black Friday deals, but this is a whole thing coming up. The week kicks off with Target offering 15 percent off its entire site on Monday. But the deals don’t stop when the clock strikes midnight on Tuesday—or Wednesday or Thursday or even the day after that. Target’s continuing the digital sale party every single day this week—but every day will see a different department get discounted.

    Here’s the daily breakdown:

    Monday, November 27: 15 percent off site-wide on Target.com.

Tuesday, November 28: 40 percent off bath and bedding.

Wednesday, November 29: Spend $30, save $10 on beauty and cosmetics.

Thursday, November 30: 30 percent off boots and outerwear.

Friday, December 1: Electronics go on sale.

Saturday, December 2: 30 percent off furniture and rugs.

With this kind of sale situation, it’s a great time to get started on those holiday gifts (and pick up a few for yourself).

Of course, Target isn’t the only retailer offering great Cyber Monday deals—although admittedly, Cyber Week is a pretty great concept. A ton of other websites have Cyber Monday deals and promotions happening, too—Ann Taylor, for example, is offering 50 percent off all day, and BaubleBar has some of their collections up to 35 percent off November 26-28. Ready to outline your shopping strategy? Check out all the other Cyber Monday deals we’ve rounded up right over here.

Target Black Friday 2017 Beauty Deals: What to Expect

Black Friday always brings us tons of deals, but few can compare to Target’s. In just a handful of days, those deep cuts will be sweeping the retailer’s aisles, and if you’re not out there grabbing the deals, you’re truly missing out. Last year Black Friday sales rose to $3.34 billion, up 21.6 percent from 2015—and at Target alone Thanksgiving day was the largest spending day ever for the site. Which is to say, get in there and get your holiday shopping done while the prices are low.

This year Target is giving us a buy-one-get-one 50 percent off deal on all beauty gifts sets. In other words, it’s time to clean up your shopping list—for your family, friends, yourself, anyone in this world that you care about. Below, here’s exactly what you should snag while the going’s half-priced. It might get a little crazy (an understatement; last year saw lines of 600 people at some Targets), but we’ve narrowed down the overwhelming options to lay out your game plan.

Taylor Swift Stopped by Target to Buy Her Album and Swifties Lost Their Minds

Taylor Swift has made a tradition out of going to Target to buy her new albums when they come out. Fans know this happens every album cycle—they expect it—and yet it’s still so surprising when she actually pops up at said Target. Exhibit A: Last night, when Swift strolled into a Nashville store to buy Reputation, and fans completely lost it.

Swift first teased the visit on Instagram Stories, showing herself and her squad piling out of a car and stampeding the Target parking lot. Once they got in, they perused the Reputation display, where Swift gave everyone a sermon about the magazines she made. “They’re different. Everything in them is different…except for the album. Because I only made one album. Just trying to be really transparent here,” she said.

It didn’t take long for fans to notice their queen was in the building. She was soon swarmed—in the best way possible—by Swifties, and TayTay couldn’t have been more gracious, posing for pics, chatting them up, and cracking jokes. Here are some of the best videos we found from the excursion:

Swift hasn’t done any traditional press for Reputation, but she’s arguably been more interactive with fans than ever during this era. She hosted several Reputation secret listening sessions—like she did with 1989—but she’s also upped her social media game (she slides into fans’ DMs on the daily now) and even opened a Reputation pop-up shop in New York City. She made a surprise visit there, too.

All of this is to say Swift seems really jazzed and happy about Reputation, despite it being her edgiest, “darkest” work to date. Old Taylor might be dead, sure, but Fan-Loving Taylor certainly isn’t.
