Signs that You May be Video Game Crazed

A person who is crazy about video games is not hard to identify. Unlike many other obsessions, video games are reasonably socially acceptable, so people tend to be very open about their love for them. In fact, gamers are often too open about their love for gaming, to the point of irritating and boring the non-gamers in their lives. A number of video gamers are consumed by their love for video games, to the point that their thoughts, time, energy and money is spent primarily on video games. Below is a list of signs to watch for that may indicate if you are video game obsessed:

  • The time that you spend playing video games flies by like nothing.
  • The people in your life know to avoid disturbing you while you are gaming.
  • Instead of asking you what you want for your birthday and Christmas, your friends ask you which game you want for your birthday and Christmas.
  • When you have a new game you have been looking forward to it might be days before anyone sees you, other than fellow gamers.
  • Game creators can never keep up with your gaming appetite.
  • A number of your closest friendships were created through a headset.
  • You tell people in your life what you love or enjoy about a game even when it is obvious that they are not interested.
  • Your gaming habits have been the topic of a negative conversations with your spouse, significant other or family.

If this list sounds all too much like yourself, it is possible that you are addicted to video games. Video game addiction is a recent phenomenon, but is considered a legitimate addiction. Video game addictions that become out of control can result in damaged relationships, poor health and the loss of jobs or good standing in school. If you think you are legitimately addicted to video games, seek addiction treatment.

French Icon Catherine Deneuve Signs Controversial Open Letter Criticizing #MeToo Movement

Catherine Deneuve, the 74-year-old French actress known for her decades-long career, has joined 99 other women in signing an open letter that challenges the #MeToo movement and its French counterpart #Balancetonporc, claiming that the public campaigns infantilize women, limit sexual freedom, and contribute to “puritanical” and “totalitarian” thinking.

The letter was published Tuesday in French newspaper Le Monde, and its signatories are academics, entertainers, and writers, including author Catherine Millet, psychoanalyst Catherine Robbe-Grillet, and actress Christine Boisson.

“Rape is a crime. But insistent or clumsy flirting is not a crime, nor is gallantry a chauvinist aggression,” the women write, according to a translation printed in The New York Times. “As a result of the Weinstein affair, there has been a legitimate realization of the sexual violence women experience, particularly in the workplace, where some men abuse their power. It was necessary. But now this liberation of speech has been turned on its head.”

In the letter, the women also denounced #MeToo for punishing men too abruptly. Likening the public reckoning that’s ousted many high-profile men from positions of power to a “witch hunt,” they lamented that “expedited justice already has its victims, men prevented from practicing their profession as punishment, forced to resign, etc., while the only thing they did wrong was touching a knee, trying to steal a kiss, or speaking about ‘intimate’ things at a work dinner…”

The letter is likely an example of problematic generational divides that complicate the #MeToo conversation and fail to hold men accountable for their behavior: Last year, designer Donna Karan, 69, apologized after saying that women who were assaulted by film producer Harvey Weinstein were “asking for it.” Ninety-two-year-old actress Angela Lansbury also made the world cringe when she said women “must sometimes take blame” for harassment. And, in an interview with The Sunday Times Magazine back in 2015, rocker Chrissie Hynde, 66, said she took “full responsibility” for a sexual assault incident she experienced at age 21, in which she was raped by a motorcycle gang member who offered her a ride to a party.

Plus, as The Atlantic points out, there are also cultural differences at play here. While women in the U.S. may feel a strength in numbers and solidarity in speaking out French women may fear that “naming names will more likely win you accusations of being a ‘collabo,’ or turncoat, not to mention an affront to your own sex appeal.

Needless to say, Le Monde letter met with a wave of backlash that was swift and biting.

Italian actress Asia Argento—one of the first women to accuse Harvey Weinstein of sexual misconduct—tweeted “Deneuve and other French women tell the world how their interiorized misogyny has lobotomized them to the point of no return,” while a group of about 30 activists, led by French feminist Caroline De Haas, responded by saying that Deneuve and the co-signers had conflated flirting and sexual violence.

“One means treating the other as your equal, respecting their desires, whatever they may be. The other is treating them as an object at your disposal, paying no attention to their own desires, or their consent,” they wrote.

Deneuve has spoken about women’s issues in the past, even admitting to having an illegal abortion in France in the 1970s. However, it’s not the first time she’s denounced #MeToo—she called the movement “excessive” last fall. She’s also been criticized for defending the director Roman Polanski, who pleaded guilty to unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor.

All the Signs Taylor Swift Is Releasing New Music Today

It’s been three long years since Taylor Swift released her last album 1989. The record, which won basically all the Grammy Awards in 2016, was more than just a collection of catchy pop songs: It was an event. Swift is one of those rare musicians whose work takes on a life of its own. Every music video, tour outfit, and promotional performance was larger than life; it really felt like we were in the presence of something special—something that was only going to happen once in our lifetime. Truthfully, the only other modern artist who has this same level of influence is Beyoncé. They sit at a very small table of artists who are more than just artists: They’re icons.

That’s why the wait for Swift’s next album has been agonizing—but it looks like new music is finally upon us. All the signs point to today, August 21—the day of the solar eclipse—as the day Swift ushers in her sixth album era. Here’s why:

Swift fans have been thinking for months now that her new music will be space and time-themed—so what better day to begin promo for it than the day of a solar eclipse? And if the eclipse is playing a factor in this new era, it would explain why Swift blacked out her social media channels on Friday (August 18). The solar eclipse, if you’re unfamiliar, literally blacks out the sun for two minutes. These connections aren’t exactly subtle.

And get this: Swift decided to break her social media silence on Eclipse Day. She uploaded a cryptic video of a snake, which is clearly a nod to the Kim Kardashian-Snapchat feud from last year. (If you recall, people started associating Swift with the snake emoji because of it.)

Joseph Kahn, Swift’s longtime music video collaborator, added fuel to this fire when he tweeted these two things on Monday:

To top it all off, radio stations are also teasing that something big and Swift-related is happening today:

But. What. Is. Happening? Honestly, who knows at this point? Fan theories like this are ridiculous in by nature, but that’s what makes them so fun. Let’s just bask in this pop-music circus, shall we? That is, after all, what Queen Taylor Swift wants.

All the Signs Jon and Daenerys Are Definitely Getting Together on 'Game of Thrones'

Game of Thrones fans lost their minds two weeks ago, when Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen finally met face to face. It was a long time coming—six years, to be exact—and, if you recall, their first interaction wasn’t exactly warm. Jon refused to “bend the knee” to Daenerys, as she requested, and they both let their agendas get in the way of reaching common ground. Their subsequent meetings haven’t been much better, either. That cave scene from episode four was downright intense. Sure, it feels like the political ice between them is melting (pun intended), but we still have a long way to go.

Even still, we can’t help but notice the sexual energy between Jon and Daenerys. The GoT army is pretty divided on this topic. Some fans aren’t here for them potentially shackin’ up because Daenerys is technically Jon’s aunt; others aren’t thinking twice about the incest and ship them hard-core. (After all, this wouldn’t be the first time family members hooked up on GoT. It’s basically the show’s M.O.—well, that and dragons.)

But will it happen? Will Jon and Daenerys bang? We don’t know for sure—yet—but all signs point to yes. People from both in front of and behind the camera on Game of Thrones have opened up about this alleged relationship, and their quotes suggest Jon and Daenerys are in for a pretty steamy future. Don’t believe us? Here are the receipts:

GoT coshowrunner David Benioff said Dany and Jon’s feelings for each other are “powerful.” He confirmed this in a behind-the-scenes video for season seven, episode six. Benioff was specifically referring to the moment when Dany sees a wounded Jon arriving from the White Walkers battle on the back of Coldhands’ horse. “Just the notion of falling for someone, that involves weakness,” he said. “It’s not something a queen does. She feels that happening, and he feels that happening for her.” D.B. Weiss, another executive producer, piggy-backed off this when he said, “It’s hard, for [Dany], at that point to not look at this guy and realize this is not like the other boys.”

Benioff confirmed Jon and Daenerys are attracted to each other. “There’s conflict, and it’s conflict between powerful people,” he said in a postepisode video, according to The Huffington Post.
(He was specifically referring to the cave scene from episode four.) “And to make it all even more complicated, they’re starting to be attracted to each other. So much of it is not through dialogue, or anything we wrote, it’s just the two of them in a small space, standing near each other, and us just watching that and feeling the heat of that.”

Kit Harington said Jon clocked Daenerys’ beauty the second they met. “He walks into the room and doesn’t expect to see such a beautiful young woman of similar age to him,” Harington told Entertainment Weekly. “Any young man’s reaction is going to be, ‘OK…’ but he puts that aside, because he has to.”

Ser Davos called Jon out for looking at Daenerys’ “heart” after the cave scene. This was obviously code for Dany’s breasts, which is rude on Jon’s part, of course—but it triple-confirms he has the hots for her. Jon Snow is a fifth-grader.

Jon guided Daenerys through the cave by touching her arm. Just pointing would’ve sufficed, but Jon wanted to make physical contact with Daenerys. Why? Because! ? He’s! ? Into! ? Her! ?

The name of the GoT book series is A Song of Ice and Fire. Fans associate Jon with ice and Daenerys with fire. With this title, author George R.R. Martin is basically suggesting the central relationship in GoT is between J and D—well, maybe he is. This is just a theory—but a damn good one!
