These Pics of Prince George Baking With the Queen Are Sweeter Than Christmas Pudding

As a Christmas gift to us all, Kensington Palace released a stunning new set of images that see Prince George helping make traditional Christmas puddings alongside his great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth II, grandfather Prince Charles, and father Prince William.

The four generations of the royal family—the queen and the three future kings—came together in the Music Room of Buckingham Palace earlier this month in honor of the launch of the Royal British Legion’s “Together at Christmas” initiative.

A spokesman said the initiative had been launched “to combat the loneliness and isolation experienced by some members of the Armed Forces community at what can be a difficult time of year. The get-togethers will provide an opportunity for all ages of the Armed Forces community to come together and enjoy the Christmas puddings.”

In one photo, six-year-old Prince George is pictured mixing ingredients in a bowl while the queen, Prince of Wales, and the Duke of Cambridge proudly look on.

In another photo, Prince William and Prince Charles help a lending hand as Queen Elizabeth II watches.

According to Kensington Palace, the desserts “will become the centrepieces of 2020’s get togethers, and form part of 99 puddings distributed across the charity’s network in the UK and the Commonwealth—also marking The Royal British Legion’s 99th year.”

It sure looks like Prince George has a little experience in the kitchen—and it’s probably all thanks to his mother. Earlier this week, Kate Middleton opened up about her own family traditions during a Christmas TV special with Mary Berry.

During the episode, the Duchess of Cambridge revealed her children love to cook and particularly enjoy making pizza dough. She also revealed that her family has a sweet royal birthday tradition.

“I love making the [birthday] cake,” Middleton shared. “It’s become a bit of a tradition that I sort of stay up until midnight with ridiculous amounts of cake mix and icing. I make far too much, but I love it.”

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Aren't Spending Christmas With the Queen This Year

After Meghan Markle and Prince Harry opened up about the hardships of public life in a recent documentary, sources speculated that the couple was considering taking an extended family break. Now, it looks like that quality time is coinciding with the holidays: On Wednesday, a spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced that Markle and Prince Harry won’t spend Christmas with Queen Elizabeth II this year; instead, they’ll be hanging out with their baby and Markle’s mother Doria Ragland.

Royal reporters tweeted a statement issued by the spokesperson that read, “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are looking forward to extended family time towards the end of this month. Having spent the last two Christmases at Sandringham, [the couple] will spend the holiday this year, as a new family, with the Duchess’ mother Doria.” While people may try to spin this into drama about the rumored riff between Prince Harry and Prince William, or the media scrutiny Meghan Markle discussed, the spokesperson made sure to emphasize that this is totally within protocol and it’s been approved by the queen herself. “This decision is in line with precedent set previously by other members of the Royal Family, and has the support of Her Majesty The Queen,” she added.

It’s also worth remembering that it’s normal for the royals to spend Christmas away from Buckingham Palace. Prince William and Kate Middleton spent the holidays with Middleton’s parents in Bucklebury in 2012 and 2016, and as the statement reminds everyone, Markle and Prince Harry were at Sandringham the last couple of years. The message doesn’t specify where exactly the Sussexes will be, so it’s unclear if Ragland will come to the U.K. But we’re crossing our fingers that maybe this extended family time means Markle, Harry, and Archie will come stateside.

Queen Elizabeth Is Reportedly a 'Fan' of How Relatable Kate Middleton Has Been Recently

Kate Middleton has got to be feeling very good right now because she is reportedly in very high favor with her boss—a.ka. her grandmother-in-law and the Queen of England. It’s easy to forget as we fawn over Middleton’s fashion and enviable hair that when she’s out at engagements and on royal tours, it’s all in service and at the behest of Queen Elizabeth II.

“The Queen is a fan,” a source told Vanity Fair‘s royal reporter, Katie Nicholl. “Kate is unflappable. Her mantra is very like the Queen’s keep calm and carry on approach in life, and she has the added benefit of making the Royal Family seem almost normal and in touch.” There’s been a lot of drama surrounding the family of late, including rumors of sibling rifts and lawsuits against certain tabloids, so it makes sense that the queen would appreciate the Duchess of Cambridge’s calm, cool, and collected demeanor at the time. Reportedly, the monarch was also very happy with Middleton and Prince William’s recent royal tour of Pakistan.

“It feels very much like this has been Kate’s year,” royal biographer Claudia Joseph told Vanity Fair. “She looks happy, in control and there’s a new confidence about her. “I think Kate seems much happier than a year ago. She has three lovely children, has been honored by the Queen for her hard work and is really well liked not just here but around the world.”

“She’s very much the girl next door, from how she dresses to how she behaves and interacts with people on engagements,” Joseph continued. “She is likeable and relatable and that has made her very popular.” And there definitely have been lots of good stories about the Duchess of Cambridge lately—like when she was spotted shopping at a chain store with Prince George and Princess Charlotte for Halloween costumes or how she had a mom’s night out at a pub with women from the kids’ school. She’s also reportedly trying to help her sister-in-law, Meghan Markle, after the Duchess of Sussex opened up about how difficult she’s finding it to handle the tabloid scrutiny.

“They [the Cambridges] seem to be making a real effort and it’s paying off,” another source told Vanity Fair. “They are getting great press.”

Well done, Kate. But now can you give an interview about every single hair product you use?

Meghan Markle Reportedly Took 2-Hour Etiquette Lessons Before Meeting the Queen

We know that before Meghan Markle became an official member of the royal family, she worked really hard to get familiar with all the traditions and etiquette that come with the territory. Now, Edmund Fry, a London-born etiquette expert, is showing people just how far she went to really understand her role. He recently told the Daily Mail that just before Markle met with Queen Elizabeth II, she sought him out for two-hour tea lessons that included everything from proper fork handling to the exact way to sip tea.

Apparently, Markle met with Fry right before she moved to London. “She enjoyed it so much that she wanted to come back,” Fry told the publication. “The younger generation doesn’t know what bone china is and certainly don’t know anything about how to handle a cup and saucer, or how to handle a knife and fork…. They come to us mainly to find out, ‘What should we do, as we are having this social event?’ The same sort of thing happened with Meghan. She knew she would be having tea with the Queen.”

According to the report, Markle didn’t make the reservation herself or under her own name. A friend did it for her at Fry’s Rose Tree Cottage tea room in Pasadena, California.

The Daily Mail had previously said that one of the queen’s most trusted aides, Samantha Cohen, had helped Markle with other pieces of royal protocol once it became clear she was going to marry Prince Harry. Apparently, Markle underwent “six months of listening” and learned all about different rules, like when to curtsy.

Meghan Markle is now back in the spotlight after her a few months of maternity leave, so we’ll get to see her pull off even more royal duties and show everything she’s learned about being a duchess.

Here's How Kate Middleton Is Preparing to Be Queen

According to a new cover story in People this week, Kate Middleton has taken a few steps to cement her place as future queen.

Royal insiders tell People that the Duchess of Cambridge has really come into her own since the birth of her three children. We know that she takes a hands-on approach with her kids and is even the family photographer from time to time. Sources say that the confidence she’s gained over the last few years is also reflected in her own charity work, which focuses on issues related to parenthood and child development. She’s reportedly even writing her own speeches these days and sitting in long meetings with U.K. organizations.

“The Duchess wouldn’t just join us, she would stay for the whole meeting. She has a deep curiosity to really understand the issues,” Kate Stanley, director of strategy at the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children, tells People.

“She is now more open with what she wants to say, and funnily enough, she is more relaxed as well,” a family source also told People, while another source added, “She is finding her voice.”

Fans saw a glimpse of this in January, when Middleton spoke frankly about the struggles of motherhood. “It’s so hard,” the duchess said at an event. “You get a lot of support with the baby as a mother particularly in the early days, but after the age of one, it falls away. After that, there isn’t a huge amount. Lots of books to read. Everybody experiences the same struggle.”

Meanwhile, a third close royals source told People, “She is an adoring mother, and she is contributing publicly in the way we would want her to. You see it more and more. The young student has turned into our future Queen.”

Hannah Brown, a Queen, Can't Be Bothered With Tyler Cameron and Gigi Hadid

If you’re even a casual member of Bachelor Nation, then you’re probably well-versed in the current situation involving Hannah Brown, Gigi Hadid, and Tyler Cameron. The Cliff’s Notes version is this: Brown had Cameron, the runner-up from her season of The Bachelorette, over Thursday night, August 1, in Los Angeles. Romance rumors subsequently blossomed, but they were squashed when news broke Cameron went on a date with Gigi Hadid in New York City that Sunday.

Brown went on the record about this to Entertainment Tonight, saying, “I have feelings, but I’m also single and he’s single and I want to keep my options open and he can keep his options open.” Chris Harrison echoed this sentiment to Glamour, confirming that no love triangle exists because “Tyler and Hannah are not in a relationship.”

And now the question-and-answer period of this lecture is over—at least for Brown. In a new interview with Us Weekly, she made it clear she has no interest in speaking about Cameron and Hadid anymore. “I’m not going to talk about Tyler or any of that stuff. Thank you, next,” Brown told the outlet, quoting Ariana Grande’s relationship anthem “Thank U, Next.”

What a perfect, perfect response. I mean, why should Hannah Brown give any more energy into this situation? She’s too wonderful and iconic. Roll Tide, and all that jazz.

I imagine Brown’s becoming more tight-lipped in light of reports Hadid and Cameron went on a second date Monday night, August 5. According to Entertainment Tonight, the duo and some friends went bowling in New York City followed by karaoke. Listen, that may sound fun in theory, but here’s the tea: Bowling is miserable, no matter how fancy the alley. You’re forced to wear ugly shoes while throwing around a giant, marble ball that could kill someone in a room that probably smells like stale cigarettes. And karaoke? Again, a scam! Why would you pay money to listen to your friends sing “Photograph” by Nickelback off-key? Don’t worry, Hannah, you’re not missing anything.

In fact, it looks like her Monday night plans were way better: She attended an ABC Television Critics Association event in Los Angeles wearing a dress that says, “Tyler, who?” and striking a pose that reads, “I’m an unfazed legend.”
