Jennifer Aniston Threw a Christmas Party This Weekend—and Brad Pitt Attended

Jennifer Aniston threw a Christmas tree trimming party this past Saturday, December 14, and a very special guest attended: her ex-husband, Brad Pitt.

Now, before you jump to conclusions, it’s important to know a few things. 1) Pitt was just one of many A-listers who attended Aniston’s annual bash. Other celebs who went include Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Hudson, and Jimmy Kimmel, according to People magazine. And 2) Aniston and Pitt have maintained a “friendly” relationship for a while now. Need we remind you that he attended her 50th birthday party back in February 2019?

“They have been in touch a few times since her birthday and are keeping it friendly,” a source tells People. Earlier they added, “The annual tree trimming party is always Jen’s favorite to host. She loves Christmas. As usual, a large group of friends attended.”

So, no, this doesn’t mean Aniston and Pitt are getting back together. Their relationship ended over a decade ago, after all. They’ve moved on and clearly have a very nice rapport with one another.

On Pitt going to Aniston’s birthday party in February, an insider told People, “He would not have been asked to come if that weren’t the case. It was a big night for Jen. The important people in her life gathered to celebrate with her. Brad fits into that group, and it was natural that he would want to come.” What the two of them have, per this source, is a “very civil relationship.”

Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston were married between 2000 and 2005. Shortly after their split, Pitt got together with Angelina Jolie, and a fictional, tabloid-fueled love triangle formed between the three of them. When Pitt and Jolie split in 2016, all eyes, unsurprisingly, were on Aniston. But it’s time this narrative that she’s still pining over Pitt end. She has more important things going on in her life. And so do we.

And of course, there was dancing.

I Threw a Blood Party to Celebrate Getting My Period for the First Time in Seven Years

My dad cried and said “I’m so happy for you” as if I had actually accomplished something.

My mom was also so happy for me for thirty seconds, before panicking that my period might disappear again.

I texted my ex-boyfriend who lives in a different city and he responded with three popping champagne bottles, which to my knowledge is the first time he’s ever used an emoji.

My 77-year-old boss clutched his chest with joy, and, eager to convey how deeply comfortable the conversation was for him, added some thoughtful follow-up questions about cramps.

The stranger my friend tried to set me up with at his birthday bought me a celebratory drink and insisted: “It’s 2019, only lame men are grossed out by periods.” (I experienced newfound hope in woke masculinity.)

Another guy I went on a blind date with that week listened to the whole triumphant story compassionately, even offering some related experience of a health mystery solved through diet. We’re all just souls trapped in these weird malfunctioning vessels, I thought.

A third date got squirmy and asked if I was telling everyone about this. I decided to take a break from dating but that was okay because my social calendar was already full: I was planning a blood party.

A blood party is the party you have to celebrate getting your period for the first time in seven years. At least, it’s the party I throw to celebrate getting my period for the first time in seven years. I had been fantasizing about this day for a long time, so I already knew the essential elements: Bloody Mary’s, blood orange bellinis, some sort of fertility ritual. I also wanted it to involve dancing naked around a campfire deep in the wilderness under the aurora borealis, but I live in Los Angeles and don’t own a car so I settled for Elysian Park at dusk with some streamers.

I invited many people, all of whom had experience with menstruation. I encouraged friends to fly in from distant cities, threatening that I may never get married or have a child and so this may be their only chance to prove their love by celebrating a significant life milestone with me.

The response was overwhelming. Everyone wanted to toast to my bleeding. They had lots to say about periods in general and their place in society. They were eager to inaugurate a ceremony that honored womanhood. Someone asked my underwear size. Someone offered to bake me a red velvet cake. Some people actually did travel from distant cities to come to my blood party.

The ceremony was beautiful. Partially inspired by a friend’s transcendent Passover Seder, we blessed objects from a centerpiece representing each of the organs in the reproductive system: a pea for the pituitary gland, a candle for the hypothalamus, two Twizzlers for the fallopian tubes, frozen perogies for ovaries, an egg for eggs, a cozy sweat sock for the uterus, and of course, beet juice for blood.

Then we said some affirmations:

“As the hair follicles rise on the surface of the ovary, so I rise to meet the challenges and joys of the days ahead.”

“As the uterine lining thickens and builds, so I thicken and build in experience and understanding.”

“As the egg enters the fallopian tubes, so I willingly enter the dark tunnel of the unknown where I can’t see anything and fear is my only companion, because I know this tunnel is the only path to a new freedom.”

My beet juice altar.

Maxine Waters Has Has Called for Impeachment Since 2017. Fellow Democrats, Welcome to the Party.

Maxine Waters knew it would come to this. Since 1990, she has represented California in the United States House of Representatives. In that time, she has seen President Bill Clinton weather impeachment, President George Bush drag us into endless war, and President Barack Obama survive the scandal of his tan suit. In other words, she can distinguish between real and partisan horror. And she has sounded the alarm on this president for months.

In September 2017, at comedian Dick Gregory’s funeral, Waters said, “when I get through with Donald Trump, he’s going to wish he had been impeached.” In May 2017, she asked, “Why would we let…Trump, a con man, come in here and turn it all upside down with his lies and his disrespect?” She would keep at it, she promised, “until he’s impeached.” In November 2017, she led thousands of people in an “Impeach 45!” chant at Glamour’s Women of the Year Awards. It took some time, but the House of Representatives has now heeded her call.

But as much as Waters is vindicated, she is also under fire. The representative is a frequent target for such right-wing conservatives as Tucker Carlson, Glenn Beck, and the hordes of internet trolls who follow them. In October 2018, Waters was one of over a dozen Trump critics who was sent a bomb—in fact she received two—in the mail. She tells Glamour she still gets death threats. But Waters is as resolute as ever: Now is no time to back down. Here, she talks impeachment, Republicans, and what’s next for America.

Glamour: From the beginning, you have been a voice in the wilderness, warning America about this president.

Rep. Maxine Waters I watched this president all during the primaries and the way that he treated his peers. I watched him talk about grabbing women by their private parts. I’ve watched him name-call—he name-called me. I watched him promote violence at his rallies. I watched him embrace [Russian President Vladimir] Putin and refuse to denounce him even after our intelligence committee basically confirmed that the Russians had hacked into our election system.
And now I’m watching him, with this telephone call that really has gotten a lot more people into understanding and believing how dangerous he is, how corrupt he is. A tough call where he tried to talk the Ukrainian president into getting involved in some kind of phony investigation so that he could get dirt on [former Vice President Joe] Biden.

Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez Just Had a Star-Studded Engagement Party

It looks like Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez are finally starting to ramp up their wedding celebrations. First up? An engagement party so over-the-top that it could’ve doubled as a wedding.

People reports that the singer and former baseball player celebrated their love amongst friends and family Friday night in Los Angeles. Few details have emerged about the evening, but if Lopez’s 50th birthday celebrations earlier this summer are any indication — the party included a 10-tier cake, head banging and several A-list celebrities — it was surely a lavish fête.

Lopez’s bestie Leah Remini did share some pictures of the night, giving us a glimpse at JLo’s glam for the party: smoky eyes, heavy lashes and a nude lip. Lopez opted for a romantic hair style, featuring a deep part and and subtle curls, to pair with her one-shouldered blush pink outfit. The pictures only offer a peek at the evening’s venue, a glamorous ballroom, where it seems guests were seated for dinner amongst candlelight and crystal dish ware.

A-Rod popped the question during a dreamy sunset in the Bahamas in March with an incredible 15-carat diamond ring. But considering Lopez’s incredibly busy schedule — which has included promoting the Oscar-buzz generating film Hustlers, walking in Versace’s latest fashion show and being named a Super Bowl 2020 headlining act — it’s no surprise the pair had to wait almost six months to celebrate the relationship milestone.

But Lopez has admitted neither of them are in any rush to head down the aisle. In a video shared on her YouTube channel in June, she revealed that the couple will tie the knot “next year.” She also said that she wants to have a “big wedding.”

“I’d like to get married in a church this time. Never been married in a church,” Lopez, who has previously been married three times, added.

The star also recently said to Entertainment Tonight that she and Rodriguez have yet to set an official wedding date, but she knows who she wants to walk her down the aisle: her 11-year-old son, Max.
