The Best Deals From the It Cosmetics Friends and Family Sale

Foundation is something I have a hard time finding myself getting hyped about. Shopping for it is laborious and next-to-near impossible to do online. And its purpose by nature is to look like nothing. I figure if I’m going to invest my time and energy (not to mention money) on anything, I’d rather it be skin care, so I can skip the step entirely and just get to having great skin.

The unfortunate reality is that no combination of moisturizers and acids has completely gotten rid of my redness, even when my skin is at its best. So, foundation it is! But earlier this year, my outlook on foundation changed entirely when It Cosmetics came out with Bye Bye Foundation. Technically speaking, the brand calls it a “full-coverage moisturizer,” because it has both skin care ingredients and the elusive power of looking exactly like your skin but better.

If that sounds familiar, it’s because the formula is wildly similar to It’s beloved CC Cream—called Your Skin But Better. In fact, the majority of their ingredients are identical. Both contain SPF 50+ broad spectrum sunscreen, hyaluronic acid (to plump and hydrate your skin), peptides, and antioxidants. But where Bye Bye Foundation differs is in the coverage and its ability to last, truly, all day long.

I’ve found that most tinted moisturizers or CC creams tend to fade out during the day or go on super sheer, whereas Bye Bye coats your skin in a non-cakey layer of makeup that sinks in to look unbelievably natural. It’s a little more matte than the It CC Cream, but still looks dewy and fresh. Beyond that, it’s easy to apply—most mornings I dab it on with Beautyblender in the backseat of an Uber. Thirty seconds and done.

Shade-wise it isn’t totally expansive—it’s got three light, three medium, three tan, and three dark shades; something that was met with criticism early on—but the brand has plans to add more in the future.

Anyway, I say all this because It Cosmetics is having it’s Friends and Family Sale right now (ending tomorrow, November 3), and everything is 25 percent off if you spend $30 or more. Seeing that Bye Bye Foundation is originally $40—and this sale marks it down by a fourth of the price—it’d be a crime not to alert the public. Even though I’ve got one foundation at my desk, another in my makeup bag, and one on my vanity, I’ll still be buying two more tubes. It really is just that good.

The Best Natural Beauty Deals From Credo's Friends and Family Sale

It’s hard to know who to trust out there in the beauty world. When it comes to “clean” beauty, we’ve seen companies take some liberties with how they greenwash products. Brands make an art of implying that they’re doing good and treating the environment right, but it’s not always transparent how exactly so. Retailers like Credo have stepped in to provide some order, strictly curating the best natural products on the market. The only downside is that thoughtful formulas take work to create, and that effort often translates into a heftier price tag. And while it must be nice to feel entirely confident about everything in your medicine cabinet, we’ve got to eat. So today’s a lucky break: Credo’s Friends and Family sale puts tons of the store’s offerings in the more affordable price range, with the code CLEAN20 lopping 20 percent off purchases from now through Sunday, November 4. You Will Not Believe How *Friends* Almost Ended

There are only a few true certainties in these confusing times: Ice cream is good, Lady Gaga will win the Oscar for A Star Is Born, and Ross and Rachel lived happily ever after. But the latter came very close to not happening, according to Friends executive producer Kevin S. Bright.

In a recent interview with Digital Spy, Bright revealed that the show—which ran for 10 seasons on NBC—was originally supposed to end after season nine. “We started out on season nine thinking that that would be the last season,” Bright said. “We were prepared to end the series in season nine. But at the last minute, things fortunately happened, and there was a season 10.”

Bright explains that the uncertainty over a 10th and final season left the writers “frozen,” meaning had the show ended after season nine, the writers wouldn’t have been able to craft that pitch-perfect ending. Instead, the show would have ended in Barbados, with Joey and Rachel embarking on a relationship that, let’s be honest, never rang true.

Thankfully, we got the finale we all deserved, with one of TV’s greatest will-they-or-won’t-they couples finally admitting their love for one another. And while audiences rejoiced after the final episode, things proved much harder for the cast. “Everybody was just trying to get that last bit of Friends delight, but almost all of the actors broke down and cried in one scene or another,” Bright, who directed the finale, revealed. “So there was a lot of stopping to mop up, and get the redness out of the eyes!”

Bright goes on to explain that the mood on set that day was one of “great accomplishment,” but also one of “real sadness,” after the cast and crew had spent the last 10 years of their lives together. “There were over 120 people working on the show, and we saw them for those 10 years far more than we saw our own families,” he said.

Bright added that the sadness came from “knowing that probably there’s never going to be something like this again in our lives. We’ll do other television shows, but it’s not going to be like this.”

You can say that again.

*Saved by the Bell* Star Tiffani Thiessen Almost Played Rachel on *Friends*

It’s hard to imagine anyone other than Jennifer Aniston playing Rachel on Friends, but apparently fans came very close to having an entirely different ’90s icon arguing on-screen with Ross over whether they were “on a break.”

In a new interview on Nikki Glaser’s podcast, You Up, Saved by the Bell star Tiffani Thiessen, a.k.a. Kelly Kapowski, revealed that she had auditioned for the role of Rachel. “Do you know I tested for Friends for Jennifer Aniston? I did,” she said.

Sadly, Thiessen wasn’t the right fit, she said, because she wasn’t quite as old as the rest of the cast members. “I was just a little too young,” she continued. “A little too young to the pairing of the rest of them.”

“That makes sense to me, because you are both such amazing comedic actresses,” Glaser told Thiesen, and the Saved by the Bell star agrees that Jennifer Aniston is “very, very funny.”

Thiessen isn’t the only star who almost replaced one of the core six in their spots on the Central Perk couches. 30 Rock‘s Jane Krakowski also auditioned for the part of Rachel, and Will and Grace‘s Eric McCormack tried out for Ross. Vince Vaughn tried out for Joey, Jon Cryer for Chandler, Leah Remini for Monica, and Kathy Griffin for Phoebe. Let’s just say Friends could easily have been a completely different show.

Though she didn’t wind up living in the iconic purple-walled apartment alongside Monica and the rest of the gang, Thiessen is now starring in a new sitcom on Netflix called Alexa & Katie, out now. All’s well that ends well.

Adele Wrote a Touching Post About Her Best Friend’s Postpartum Psychosis Recovery

Adele is bringing awareness to a very important issue: postpartum psychosis, which her best friend, Laura, has experienced. On Monday (August 13), the singer posted a picture to Instagram of the two cuddling with Laura’s son (and Adele’s godson), alongside a poignant message.

“This is my best friend,” she wrote in the caption. “We have been friends for more of our lives than we haven’t. She had my beautiful godson 6 months ago and it was the biggest challenge of her life in more ways than one. She has written the most intimate, witty, heartbreaking, and articulate piece about her experience of becoming a new mum and being diagnosed with postpartum psychosis. Mamas talk about how you’re feeling because in some cases it could save yours or someone else’s life x [.]”

Adele included a link in her bio to Laura’s first-person blog post about her experience. In it, Laura documents what she calls “the worst time of [her] life.” “Since having my baby boy in February this year I’ve been suffering from and battling against post partem [sic] psychosis,” she began. “A rare and unpublicised illness that affects 1 in a 1000 women and is seen as a medical emergency (don’t worry I had never heard of it either until it tried to ruin my life). In my case it was built upon post-natal depression and exhaustion and escalated into a phase of what I can only describe as hell; mania, mood swings, insomnia, delusions, paranoia, anxiety, severe depression with a lovely side order of psychosis.”

She continued, “My pregnancy was a dream, I was totally prepared to be unprepared and have no history of mental illness and yet this cruel and savage sickness completely and unexpectedly swallowed me, smashed me and my family against the rocks. “

In the blog post, Laura describes a wide range of symptoms, from hiding congratulations cards to sleepless nights to mania, anxiety attacks, and thoughts of suicide . After an intervention, she spent two weeks in the hospital, and she’s currently in the midst of recovery with the help of family support, a psychiatrist, medication, and psychotherapy.

“Talking about this has been a huge part of my recovery and I was constantly searching for any stories that offered me hope or salvation in this dark and testing time so that’s why I’ve shared this and to raise awareness of this awful sickness and to confront the stigma attached to post natal depression and the pressure put on women to become mothers,” she wrote. “You have to talk. Birth and motherhood is a shock to the system and traumatic, and we shouldn’t have to suffer in silence.” You can read her full blog post here.
