Awards season came to a glamorous conclusion tonight, February 9, with the 2020 Oscars. While the nominations weren’t as diverse as we would have liked, the style of the stars who attended did not disappoint. Granted, the fashion we saw on this carpet was safer and more straightforward than the Grammys and Golden Globes, but it still felt special. This is Hollywood’s biggest night, after all. The stars have to bring their A-game. (Well, the female stars have to, at least. Men just wear the same black tuxes and get away with it, but that’s a rant for later.)

Awards season can be a bit stuffy, but that all changes with the Grammys. Not only are there live music performances, which help break up the speeches, but the red-carpet fashion tends to be more adventurous. No color, style, or length is off-limits at the Grammys, which is a nice reprieve from the sea of ball gowns at the Oscars and Golden Globes. (No shade to a good ball gown, but come on! Give me just one sequin mini skirt!)
This year’s Grammys red carpet was no exception. So many of your favorites turned out on-point looks for music’s biggest night—from Lizzo to Ariana Grande. There were some misfires, of course, but overall the fashion was great. Some of it bordered on superb. Let’s go through those looks right now.

The SAG Awards (Screen Actors Guild Awards) is always a fun show. For one, the only prizes given out are for acting, so you don’t have to suffer through a laundry list of confusing production categories. They move pretty quickly. And all your favorite celebrities actually show up. The 2020 SAG Awards, held on January 19, was no exception. Everyone from Reese Witherspoon to Jennifer Lopez made time for the 2020 SAG Awards—and they dressed for the occasion.
The red carpet was stacked with so many memorable looks. Bold colors, interesting cuts, plus stellar hair and makeup choices. In fact, I’d venture to say the Screen Actors Guild Awards red carpet is the best one from awards season…so far. We still have the Grammys and Oscars to go, of course, and you know celebrities will turn it out for those events too.

Awards season rolled on tonight, January 10, with the 2020 Critics’ Choice Awards. Taye Diggs hosts this evening’s show, which includes the most nominations for Martin Scorsese’s movie, The Irishman. Following closely behind are Little Women,1917, and Marriage Story.
As usual, celebrities showed up and showed out on tonight’s red carpet—keeping up the momentum from last week’s incredibly stylish Golden Globes. Tonight we saw classic gowns, suits, and an array of different colors and styles. Here’s hoping the style is equally as on point for the Screen Actors Guild Awards next week—plus the Oscars and the Grammys later down the line.

Happy Halloween to all, but especially Kelly Clarkson.
‘Tis the season of candy corn, scary movies, and intricately-crafted celebrity costumes—especially on talk shows. From Today to Good Morning America and Live with Kelly and Ryan, the hosts always go all out with their looks. But we’re not sure anyone is going to be able to top Clarkson’s very first Halloween celebration on The Kelly Clarkson Show.
Even if you’ve yet to tune in to the daytime talk show, you’ve probably seen the viral clips of Clarkson covering other artists’ famous songs in her opening “Kellyoke” segment—like the time she sang Lizzo’s “Juice” and the internet lost its mind.
But the singer took things to a new level for her show’s Halloween celebration. Clarkson dressed up as one of Bette Midler’s most beloved characters: Winifred Sanderson from Hocus Pocus. And her backup singers were in costume as the other sisters, Sarah (Sarah Jessica Parker) and Mary (Kathy Najimy). The rest of her crew was also in full Halloween regalia as zombie bellhops.
And the song choice? The appropriately witchy “I Put a Spell On You”, which was originally written and recorded back in 1956 and has been covered countless times, including in Hocus Pocus.

The internet was very excited by this mash-up of some of their favorite things. “Kelly Clarkson singing ‘I Put A Spell On You’ dressed as a Sanderson sister from ‘Hocus Pocus’ is all I care about this Halloween,” one fan wrote. “Kelly Clarkson took a DNA test, and she’s 100% that WITCH! Kelly crushed her 2019 Halloween talk show episode by going as Winifred Sanderson from ‘Hocus Pocus’ AND singing ‘I Put A Spell On You’!,” another tweeted.
We’re still waiting to hear what the great Bette Midler thought of the performance. It’s a 10/10 for us.
For most of her career, Taylor Swift hasn’t been one to get political, but that slowly seems to be changing: The 2018 midterms saw her taking to social media to urge fans to get out and vote—and even endorse candidates running to represent her home state of Tennessee in Congress. She’s been keeping up the new trend, too. In April, she donated $133,000 to the LGBTQ+ rights-focused Tennessee Equality Project, and on Saturday, she posted a letter on Instagram addressed to her Republican senator, Lamar Alexander of Tennessee. Her public message urged him to vote for the Equality Act recently passed by the U.S. House of Representatives, which would protect members of the LGBTQ+ community from discrimination in their homes, workplaces, schools, and other public accommodation. (Her Instagram bio now reads “Support the Equality Act,” too.)
Hours after she posted her letter, she took to the stage at iHeartRadio’s Wango Tango—and she came dressed to celebrate Pride Month in a rainbow outfit. “I just feel like who you love and how you identify, you should be able to live your life the way you want to live your life, and you should have the same exact rights as everyone else,” she said to her audience.
It was a pretty incredible outfit: The matching rainbow-patterned set of high-waisted lace-up shorts and a cropped, fringed long-sleeve top was paired with a yellow tee underneath—and some rainbow-patterned sneakers.

Swift also had a surprise for fans: Panic! at the Disco’s Brendon Urie appeared on stage to sing their single, “ME!”. Urie, who identifies as pansexual, was also wearing his pride, with a T-shirt reading “100% love, 100% equality, 100% loud, 100% proud, 100% together, 100% me” in a rainbow pattern.

It was right in line with the message Swift had sent to Sen. Alexander earlier that day: “Let’s show our pride by demanding that, on a national level, our laws truly treat all of our citizens equally,” she wrote in the caption accompanying the letter.
