The Best Shows Streaming on Amazon Prime Video Right Now

With Prime Video, the megastore has also become an important streaming platform that’s home to some of your favorite old shows. And along with building a library, Amazon Prime Video is now churning out more original content.

Something up next for Amazon is the Lord of the Rings prequel in the works, but until that premieres there are plenty of shows to keep you occupied. From nostalgia plays, like Friday Night Lights, Dawson’s Creek, and The Hills, to new originals, like The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s Fleabag, there’s something for everyone.

Here are the best shows streaming on Amazon Prime Video right now.

Amazon Prime Wants to Be Your New Personal Shopper

Amazon‘s the place you can get your winter coat, your Haus Laboratories fix, and your seasonal accessories—and anything you want to buy multiples of without blowing your budget—in a single cart. (Apparently, it’s also where Bella Hadid gets her colorful pants.) But navigating its seemingly infinite selection of products can be a huge undertaking, no matter how strategic you are at keywords. Amazon Fashion knows this, and is hoping to make it a lot easier—and less time-consuming—for Prime members to find the absolute best pieces on the site.

Last summer, Amazon introduced Prime Wardrobe. The try-before-you-buy feature allows Prime members to have up to eight items of their choosing sent to them for a week to test out, then they can return what they don’t like. (They’re charged only for what they keep.) Now the company is announcing an additional service that operates more like a subscription box: Called Personal Shopper, it’s essentially a stylist that makes recommendations of brands and products you might like based on a survey that lets you detail your preferred aesthetic and fit, curating your box accordingly. It’s available exclusively on the Amazon app, and will cost Prime members $4.99 a month.

“Personal Shopper is providing curated help for customers to shop the catalog, to get style advice, to have someone who’s their stylish best friend shop on their behalf and give them highly personalized recommendations across their preferences,” Tony Bacos, Amazon Fashion’s chief technology officer, tells Glamour. “With Prime Wardrobe, customers are building their own experiences. Personal Shopper is taking that convenience to the next level.”

Instead of picking out your own pieces, Personal Shopper does that legwork for you: It’ll recommend items it thinks you’ll like, from which you select up to eight favorites to be sent to you. You get a week to test-drive them, and then you can return what you don’t love. (Returns are free.)

Beyond the initial style survey, Bacos explains that there are a few ways you help inform Personal Shopper of what you’d like to see in your box. A few days after you submit, you’ll receive an initial selection of products that you get to weigh in on: You identify what you want sent to you, what you don’t, and why. Once that’s done, your first shipment goes out.

“The more the customers are willing to share about their preferences, the better we’re able to do on their behalf,” he says. It’s kind of like, well, having a personal shopper: By giving feedback about what’s working and what isn’t over time, the experience and recommendations become more refined.

In the year since introducing it, Bacos says they’ve had “over a million customers of all shapes, sizes, and motivations” use Prime Wardrobe. Still, they’ve noticed a few recurring behaviors, like how it’s become a tool for discovery for some shoppers: “Anytime you’re buying a brand, there’s a sort of nervousness around fit and quality—Wardrobe lowers that risk. We also see customers putting the same item in two different sizes in a box, if they aren’t certain of what size to order.” With Personal Shopper, it’s hoping to build on that and offer some guidance in navigating Amazon’s product selection.

At launch, Personal Shopper is available only on women’s styles; the service for men’s is expected to be rolled out in the near future.

The Best Mascara on Amazon – Vivienne Sabo Cabaret Premier Mascara Review

Some people have an encyclopedic knowledge of, oh, American history, sports statistics, or Friends trivia. I, on the other hand, have a vast database of the best mascaras hardwired into my brain. Depending on who you ask, this is a much less useful skill than rattling off WWI facts, but seeing as it’s literally my job, I could be doing a lot worse. From around the age of 12, I made learning everything there is to know about beauty my life’s mission, and quickly I became my friends and family’s go-to for all cosmetics questions.

I’ve helped compile numerous lists over the years: the best mascaras at Sephora, the best mascaras for sensitive eyes, the best drugstore mascaras—and the even more specific, best Maybelline mascaras. (Don’t worry, I made one for CoverGirl too.) This has led me down many various rabbit holes of Sephora message boards, Reddit threads, and Amazon comments. And somehow—just when I’m about to declare a definitive best of the best—a sleeper hit comes along and shocks me.

Such was the case when I was recently scrolling through a list of the highest rated, best mascaras on Amazon, and came across a mascara brand I had never heard of. Tucked among the usual suspects (mostly L’Oréal and Maybelline classics), was the Vivienne Sabó Cabaret Première mascara, with 1,511 reviews, the majority of them five stars.

Scrolling through the comments, it was clear I was missing out on a hidden gem. Hundreds of women shared reviews, claiming it doubled their lashes, never clumped, and had replaced the mascara they’d been using for 20 years. I hit order faster than a shopper on Prime Day.

I would be remiss if I didn’t start with the name of the product. “Cabaret Première” is so delightfully campy, but the tube itself is actually pretty sleek. The brand promises to “transform your ordinary [lashes] into ooh-la-la,” and claims to be smudge-proof. “Just one coat defines and volumizes your natural lashes for a deep black, fanned look with no clumps, that doesn’t flake or transfer.”

The brush itself is quite small, and it’s the spiky plastic that implies it will be better at lengthening than volumizing. The formula is light and whipped, and doesn’t dry down to look crunchy. Upon first swipe I was impressed. My lashes looked longer and fuller. The Amazon reviews all referenced the “fanned out” quality it gave their lashes, and I definitely agree there. It pulled my lashes into a nice eye-opening curl, and no matter how many coats I applied, it didn’t clump up. I also wore it for a full day with no smudging or flaking, despite how inky black the formula is.

Lady Gaga’s New Beauty Line Is Already an Amazon Best-Seller

Hundreds of thousands of people spent at least part of their Monday or Tuesday on Amazon during the company’s longest-ever Prime Day sale, and while they weren’t all in the market for Lady Gaga’s new makeup line, Haus Laboratories, a pretty impressive number of shoppers were. Even surrounded by the pandemonium of record-breaking markdowns, the highly anticipated debut of Haus Laboratories was also highly successful.

Yahoo! Lifestyle reports that Haus Laboratories’ did quite well on Amazon Prime Day—well enough to be considered a best-seller among deeply discounted products by other beauty brands. In fact, Haus received enough preorders from Prime members to temporarily push it into Monday’s overall top-10 best sellers.

As for which Haus Laboratories products were preordered the most, people were especially excited to stake their claim on the three-piece All-Over Color, Lip Gloss and Lip Liner, which comes in six different color combinations; the Le Riot Lip Gloss Duo, which comes in three different pairs; and the RIP Lip Liner Duo, which also comes in three color combos. For the majority of this week, both the Le Riot Lip Gloss Duo and the RIP Lip Liner Duo were the top sellers in their Amazon categories.

The RIP Lip Liner Duo is an especially great pick, thanks to its versatility. According to Gaga’s makeup artist and Haus Laboratories global artistry director, Sarah Tanno, the pop icon likes to line her lips with these pencils and also fill them in entirely. Referring to the shade Ride (which comes in the Floor It duo with En Pointe), Tanno wrote on Instagram, “@ladygaga loves to wear it all over her lips like a lipstick. Full coverage, super creamy formula ?.”

Whether you already placed your order or you’re planning to, being a Prime member won’t get you two-day shipping this time—more like two-month shipping. The preorders placed now are not expected to ship until September 17, when Haus Laboratories officially launches.

With so many things on sale this Amazon Prime Day it’s easy to get overwhelmed. This year they’ve got incredible deals on luxury beauty products (hello Olaplex hair treatment), fashion finds on brands we didn’t realize they had (Kate Spade! Stuart Weitzman! But when it comes down to it the best thing about Amazon Prime Day isn’t the flashy stuff, it’s the essentials.
