Margot Robbie and Saoirse Ronan Are Totally Unrecognizable in the First 'Mary, Queen of Scots' Posters

Margot Robbie and Saoirse Ronan are never ones to hold back when it comes to roles (Harley Quinn, anyone?), and it’s clear Mary, Queen of Scots will be no different. The two have really come out to play—actually, come out to fight, if we’re being loyal to historical accuracy—in the first posters for the upcoming period drama.

Saoirse plays the reigning Scottish queen, with Margot tackling Queen Elizabeth I, Mary’s cousin and Queen of England and Ireland. Their family dynamics are very twisted, to say the least, but we’ll spare you from a complete breakdown of British royal history. What you need to know is this: The film will focus on Mary, Queen of Scots’s attempt to overthrow and execute her cousin to take her throne. Elizabeth finds out about this attempt and condemns Mary to imprisonment and an eventual execution. What ensues are never-ending power grabs, mind games, and some of the finest wigs we’ve seen in recent memory.

Margot has found a particular creative fulfillment in playing the monarch, noting that the young women—who were in their early 20s when the drama began to transpire—have a much more complex relationship than people realize. “Everyone manipulated their relationship,” she told EW. “It’s complicated, it’s tragic, and it’s bizarre. The only other person in the world who could understand the position they were in was each other.”

The first Mary, Queen of Scots trailer will debut Thursday, and the film will debut in December.

Nicole Kidman Literally Looks Unrecognizable on the Set of Her New Film

In 2003, Nicole Kidman won her first—and only—Academy Award for portraying Virginia Woolf in The Hours. She was absolutely the front-runner to take home the gold that year for several reasons: First, her performance was incredible. But she also transformed herself, physically, to the point where she wasn’t even recognizable. (Her nose in particular garnered some serious attention.) It was an awe-inspiring change, to say the least, and Kidman’s made a habit of reinventing her looks on screen ever since.

Exhibit A: Her upcoming film, Destroyer, in which she plays a detective who’s placed undercover with a gang. A photo of Kidman on set hit the Internet Tuesday (December 12), and she looks totally unrecognizable. Like, I’m pretty sure this isn’t Nicole Kidman.

The actress is rocking a shaggy, Farrah Fawcett-esque brown bob in the pic, along with tan-orange skin that’s absolutely the product of makeup. The artists on set also made her eyes more sunken in, as if she’s been up all night. And that makes sense for the film, thematically: She’s a stressed-out cop who’s trying not to blow her cover. That sounds exhausting.

Check out the photo for yourself, below.

Tatiana Maslany and Sebastian Stan are Kidman’s co-stars in Destroyer, which is directed by Karyn Kusama. Kidman said a while back she’s making a conscious effort to work with a female director every 18 months, and it seems she’s staying true to her word.

Destroyer is slated for a 2018 release. Kidman will no doubt scoop up another Oscar nom for her performance.

Blake Lively Is Totally Unrecognizable on the Set of Her New Movie

Blake Lively’s made a habit of picking roles post-Gossip Girl that have required her to transform in some way. In 2016’s The Shallows, she swapped her signature glam aesthetic for a sandy wetsuit and beach waves. In All I See Is You, which premiered last month, Lively dyed her hair chestnut brown—a far cry from the bright, California blond she’s known for. And in A Simple Favor, her new movie with Anna Kendrick due out next year, she looks straight out of Orange Is the New Black.

But she makes her most drastic change, hands down, in the upcoming thriller The Rhythm Section, which is based on the bestselling book series by Mark Burnell and also stars Jude Law. Lively plays Stephanie Patrick, a woman whose family dies in what she originally thinks is a plane accident. However, when she discovers the crash was intentional, she goes undercover as an assassin to find the people responsible.

And these new photos from the set show just how “undercover” Lively looks. The actress is virtually unrecognizable in the short, shaggy wig she’s required to wear for the role. Don’t take our word for it, though. Check it out for yourself, below:

Granted, we’re not 100 percent sure this is a wig. For all we know, she could’ve actually chopped her hair off for this movie—but that’s unlikely. Lively will probably have multiple looks in The Rhythm Section because her character is trying to navigate the world unseen. Who knows, though. Maybe this movie will inspire Lively to cut her hair shorter IRL. Serena van der Woodsen would truly be gone if that happened.

The Rhythm Section is slated for a 2019 release.
