Street style can oftentimes feel formulaic: fancy dress with sneakers, pajama-like sets with heels, sleek suiting with slick boots…. It’s great for easy outfit inspiration, but it’s rare to come across a look that is stops-you-midscroll good. In recent years, though, Fashion Weeks outside of the four major cities—New York, London, Milan, and Paris—have been getting more attention, breaking up the monotony of faces and designers you often see represented in street photography and serving up even more unexpected styling ideas. Here’s one that we can’t stop thinking about, first spotted at Oslo Runway (the city’s equivalent to Fashion Week), on YouTuber Rawdah Mahamad, and then again at New York Fashion Week: a classic jeans-and-a-tee situation, made to feel instantly fancy (and a little whimsical) by the simple addition of a tulle skirt. It’s a move that’s part Carrie Bradshaw, part modern-day fashion blogger, but is incredibly accessible—you likely already own two thirds of the outfit, and can find that last third for under $100 at your favorite retailers (we’re talking Target, people).
