Selena Gomez Quietly Removed Her Last Justin Bieber Post From Instagram


Selena Gomez has a lot going on right now: She’s promoting a new movie. She’s designing swimsuits. She’s throwing pitches for charity. Oh, and she’s removing all traces of ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber from her Instagram profile.

This weekend, dedicated fans of the “Come and Get It” singer noticed that she made a significant edit to her own profile. Sometime while she and other celebrities were raising $2.5 million for Children’s Mercy hospital in Kansas City this weekend, she took a few seconds to delete a March 2018 birthday post dedicated to Bieber.

At the time it was posted, Gomez’s birthday tribute signified that she and Bieber had officially rekindled their on-again, off-again relationship. In the post, Gomez laughs while balancing a photograph of Bieber on her forehead. “March 1, 1994 someone I knew that happens to be super cool was born. Boom,” she captioned the picture. They broke up a few weeks later—permanently. He married Hailey Baldwin in September.

Until this weekend, the birthday post had been situated between a teaser for Gomez’s Coach collaboration and a shot from her Harper’s Bazaar cover. Now, it’s missing from the grid.

Gomez and Bieber had a tumultuous relationship spanning several years, with many breakups and makeups in between. The last time they were reported to be an item, they had reconciled in November 2017.

Gomez hasn’t publicly mentioned the break-up since its end last spring. Bieber, however, has directly addressed fans who question his past and current relationship. In a comment on a fan’s Instagram account, he addressed rumors that he married Hailey Baldwin as an affront to Gomez. “I absolutely loved and love Selena she will always hold a place in my heart, but I am head over heels in love with my wife and she is absolutely the BEST THING that has ever happened to me period.”

Olivia Munn Fought to Have a Sex Offender Removed From Her Movie


Last Thursday, just a week before the scheduled theatrical release of The Predator, starring Olivia Munn, Trevante Rhodes, and Keegan-Michael Key, The Los Angeles Times published a report describing how a full scene had been cut from the film late in post-production after word spread that an actor featured in it is a registered sex offender. Munn reportedly led the charge to have Steven Wilder Striegel, the actor in question, removed from the film. Per the Times, after Munn learned in mid-August that Striegel pleaded guilty to and served jail time for attempting to lure a minor into a sexual relationship through the Internet in 2010 (and has since been listed on the sex offender registry), she relayed the information to 20th Century Fox, which soon made the decision to cut Striegel’s scene.

Since news broke of Striegel’s exclusion from the movie, Munn has continued to be outspoken about the cast and crew’s handling of the situation. In an interview with Vanity Fair on Saturday (September 8), she described feeling alone among her coworkers, none of whom, she said, had reached out to her in the wake of the controversy. (VF later updated the story to say that at least one costar had reached out to her; Key claimed in a statement to VF that he had “reached out to Olivia privately”; fellow cast member Sterling K. Brown penned several tweets over the weekend apologizing to Munn and praising her for “taking action.”)

“I kind of feel like I’m the one going to jail,” Munn told VF. “I didn’t go to jail, I didn’t put this guy on our set. I had this scene deleted. Thank God, honestly, that there is social media. It’s the fans and news outlets that’s confirming it to me that what I did was the right thing. If I didn’t have that feedback, I’d kind of go a little crazy thinking, ‘Why am I being treated like this?’ That’s not O.K., to feel like the bad guy.” Munn continued, “Getting a convicted sex offender out of a movie that has global reach is extremely important, but the reality of what I’ve had to go through in this process of just finding out, it’s a crazy thing. It’s like I stumbled upon something and now I’m being chased by everyone and isolated.”

She noted that she was especially disappointed when some of her cast mates gave director Shane Black (who admitted, in a statement to the Times, to knowing about his friend Striegel’s conviction before casting him in The Predator) a standing ovation at the film’s Toronto Film Festival premiere last Thursday. “I looked back and I see the guys standing up, and I was just confused, because I hadn’t heard from them during the day. Everybody else was sitting down — it wasn’t like this massive standing ovation for him. I felt it was still appropriate to clap and cheer, but to actually make that gesture to stand up, especially in this moment…and privately I knew that no one reached out to me to say, ‘Are you O.K.?’ It did feel bad,” said Munn, who also told The Hollywood Reporter on Saturday that she had yet to receive a personal apology from Black for casting Striegel. (Black did release a public apology after the LA Times story was published, saying, “I apologize to all of those, past and present, I’ve let down by having Steve around them without giving them a voice in the decision.”)

At the film’s Toronto premiere, Munn told Variety that she didn’t hear from Fox between her alerting them to Striegel’s past and their cutting the scene. “When I called, [Fox] was silent for two days,” she said. “I’m not saying they weren’t working on it behind the scenes. I just didn’t hear anything about it. But I’m happy that they did, obviously, because I’m proud of the work we did in this movie. We all worked really, really hard, and I wouldn’t be able to morally stand behind this movie with this guy in there.”

“Our studio was not aware of Mr. Striegel’s background when he was hired,” Fox said in a statement to the Times. “We were not aware of his background during the casting process due to legal limitations that impede studios from running background checks on actors.”

A Mural Painted By James Franco Was Removed Following Sexual Harassment Allegations Against Him


James Franco’s legacy is getting painted over. At least, the mural he painted at his alma mater, Palo Alto High School, is. In 2014, the actor donated 20 large paintings to the high school campus, along with the murals he painted himself. While one of the murals was taken down in 2016, the second was removed in late January in the wake of sexual misconduct allegations leveled against him by at least five women. According to the school, the 20 other works will be “transitioned” out of public view.

“Related to this, district staff recently considered the best interests of our students in the light of our educational mission and decided to remove and return the remaining artwork. The second mural was taken down last week; our Latinos Unidos group is working with the Paly ASB and VAPA Department around the concept for a new mural to be painted,” Palo Alto Unified School District interim superintendent Karen Hendricks told The Hollywood Reporter.

Kimberly Diorio, the school’s principal, told the school’s student paper, The Voice, “I made the decision we’ll take down the mural on the [student center] because I think that’s the one that’s most visible to the outside community.” Diorio did note, though, that the decision to take down the mural was not a direct result of the allegations against Franco.

“These are still allegations,” Diorio added. “I can’t even say [the decision to replace the mural] is based on fact because he’s denied those allegations and hasn’t been charged with a crime.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actor’s artwork was inspired by his own Palo Alto High School yearbook. “When I was a teenager, it seemed like I felt so much; everything seemed so important and there was so much pressure of all kinds and I was experiencing certain things for the first time. And so, the paintings, for me at least, captured that,” Franco told The Voice, in 2014.

Franco has denied all the sexual misconduct allegations against him. In a January sitdown with Stephen Colbert Franco said, “Look, in my life I pride myself on taking responsibility for things that I have done. I have to do that to maintain my well being. The things that I heard that were on Twitter are not accurate. But I completely support people coming out and being able to have a voice because they didn’t have a voice for so long. So I don’t want to shut them down in any way.”
