People Keep Analyzing Prince William and Kate Middleton’s Behavior at Archie’s Christening

The whole thing is rubbish, in my opinion. Kate Middleton’s smile in this christening photo looks no different than how she’s appeared in other similar shoots. The Daily Mail‘s body language expert even backed this up, adding that her pose could just be a case of her wanting to “lower her own status signals and not upstage the happy couple.”

And if Prince William seems “sour” in the picture, it probably has nothing to do with his feelings toward his brother. Maybe he’s tired. Maybe he’s hungry. Maybe he’s annoyed because he’d rather be watching Love Island on his couch than posing for photos. Wouldn’t we all?

At the end of the day, none of us know the real story behind Harry, William, Meghan, and Kate’s relationship—but to suggest that the Cambridges were miserable during Archie’s christening seems like a stretch. They’re adults. While they probably weren’t thrilled about spending the day taking stuffy photos with their in-laws, they know it’s a part of the gig. Even the closest of siblings would find posing for formal portraits together all day annoying.

And furthermore, royals expert told Katie Nicholl told Glamour a few months back that reports of a feud between the couples is overblown. “I do think there is some truth to there having been some tension—not just between the duchesses but between the dukes, as well,” she said. “As we all know, things can gather momentum pretty quickly. So while I think there’s been tension, I don’t believe there has been some feud.”

Kate Middleton’s Latest Hairstyle Looks Like It’s Straight Out of ‘Game of Thrones’

If you drew a Venn diagram of the royals, Game of Thrones, and gorgeous braids, I would be firmly planted in the center, as these are all top on my list of interests in life. Apparently, Kate Middleton is as swept up in Thrones mania as the rest of us. She just arrived for an afternoon at the Chelsea Flower Show in a long, printed Erdem dress and her famous hair in a braided style that looks like it could have been inspired by Dany or Sansa.

Middleton was on hand to show off the “Back to Nature” garden she played a part in creating for the show, and I’m obsessed with the half-up, half-down braided style she chose for the occasion. It’s not often that we see her hair braided, but hopefully it’s going to be part of her summer vibe.

Check it out below, via shots from royal reporter Emily Andrews.

I’m not pulling this out of thin air either. Middleton and her husband, Prince William, have said in the past that they are GoT fans. Back in 2017, Tom Wlaschiha, who played Jaqen H’ghar—the person who trained Arya Stark in the ways of the Faceless Men—met the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and recalled part of his conversation with them to the Evening Standard. “They said they really liked Game of Thrones and have watched every [season]. They wanted spoilers but I said I couldn’t tell them,” Wlaschiha said. “I’m surprised they have time to watch such a long-running series.” (And it obviously makes a ton of sense for members of a royal family to be interested in a show about the rise and fall of dynasties and kingdoms.)

Just yesterday we saw new (adorable) photos of the Cambridges’ three children—Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. It should not go unnoticed that Charlotte is also sporting some great braids, just as her mom did today.

We love a Cambridge braid moment, but what we’d really like to know is what Middleton thought about the finale and whether or not she’s Team Sansa.

Why Kate Middleton’s Style Might Be Totally Different Soon

When it comes to fashion, Kate Middleton has been known for her traditional, polished, even referential sense of royal style. But according to new reports, the Duchess of Cambridge might be trying out a new look—and we might start noticing it very soon.

The Daily Mail} reports that Middleton has hired a new stylist, a former British Vogue and old friend of the Duke and Duchess from their college days. (She even attended their royal wedding back in 2011.)

Virginia Chadwyck, a U.K.-based editor and consultant, will be stepping in for Natasha Archer, Middleton’s longtime stylist, while she’s out on maternity leave. But already, Chadwyck—or Ginnie, as she’s known to friends—has had an impact on the Duchess’ royal wardrobe.

“Ginnie is Catherine’s secret weapon,” a royal source told the Daily Mail. “She has made a big difference to the Duchess’ wardrobe for public engagements and has helped give a whole new sense of confidence.”

Middleton’s fashion has been influential since she joined the royal family: Like sister-in-law Meghan Markle, items she wears are known to sell out pretty soon after she’s spotted in them. Still, the Duchess of Cambridge has been known to re-wear her favorite pieces—which, to be honest, makes being a royal seem a little more relatable.

Recently, we’ve seen her divert slightly from the usual super-classic British silhouettes she’s normally gravitated towards, and start embracing more on-trend items—think wide-legged trousers and pussy-bow blouses.

She’s even revisited some of her evening wear and made adjustments to make them look more modern, like she did to the Alexander McQueen gown she wore to the Portrait Gala a few weeks ago.

Just a couple days ago, she wore combat boots—refined combat boots, but combat boots nonetheless—to an outdoor engagement with some Scouts. (Keep in mind that Middleton’s a woman who’s played field hockey in stilettos.)

It’ll be interesting to see how her style continues to evolve. In the meantime, we’d like to offer ourselves up as the willing recipients of any clothes in her “giveaway” pile.
