Fiji Water Girl Is Becoming the Biggest Meme at the Golden Globes 2019

Not all heroes wear capes: some of them carry trays of Fiji Water. Such is the case for a mysterious brunette woman at the 2019 Golden Globes, who it seems was hired by Fiji Water for the event but ended up photobombing several celebrities’ photos instead, including Julianne Moore, Alyssa Milano, and Jeff Bridges.

The Internet quickly took to this woman and dubbed her “Fiji Water Girl.” Everything about her is iconic—from the way she’s holding that tray of water to her stare, which is clearly saying, “My blood type is Fiji Water and yours should be, too.”

Take a look at just a few photos of Fiji Water Girl in action, below:

Let’s start with this photo of Jeff Bridges. In the background is Fiji Water Girl, who, in my mind, is thinking, “I think those celebs over there are dehydrated! Don’t worry, I’m on my way!”

Fiji Water Girl is behind Julianne Moore in this pic, but she isn’t starstruck. She has a mission to quench as many thirsts as possible, and nothing will get in her way. Not even the woman who played Alma Coin in The Hunger Games!

Alyssa Milano might be in the forefront, but Fiji Water Girl has her eyes peeled on the person who just ate a bag of pretzels and is in desperate need of a refreshment. She is a light in this dark, dark world.

“FYI: I have already written 200 pages of the Fiji Water Girl’s inner monologue tonight,” one person wrote on Twitter about 2019’s reigning queen. Check out some more reactions, below:

Meghan Markle's Fiji Hairstyle Had a Super Sweet Nod to Prince Harry

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are barely halfway through their first royal tour together, but in that time, the Duchess of Sussex has already announced a pregnancy, sold out a dozen outfits, and given an impassioned speech on the importance of women’s education. And on Wednesday, she gifted the hair-obsessed among us with yet another moment to feast our eyes on: another new-for-her hairstyle since her wedding.

While touring the University of the South Pacific in Fiji, Harry and Meghan both dressed in their island best: he in a blue tropical print shirt and she in a floral wrap dress tied with a pom-pom at her waist. But for royal beauty watchers, the pièce de résistance was Meghan’s hair. The duchess wore a French twist, the chic, polished cousin to her trademark messy bun. Instead of securing the gathered hair at the nape of the neck, though, the French twist tucks the hair under itself to create a sleek, smooth silhouette on the back of the head, rather than a bouncy bun.

The twist is a first (in royal life, at least) for Meghan, but it wasn’t enough to simply surprise us with a new hairstyle. She also honored the local style with three beautiful white flowers tucked neatly into her twist. According to People, they’re Frangipani flowers, native to Fiji and often used as wedding flowers to symbolize the eternal bond between a married couple.

Behold the look from every angle:

The look is a clever combination of local culture and symbolism. It’s also a reminder that the duchess’ take on royal style is just getting started. Meghan may already have a signature hairstyle, but she clearly still has the capability to surprise her fans—and there’s still plenty of time left on the couple’s royal tour for more new styles (not to mention, months of pregnancy looks ahead).

Meghan Markle Left Her Solo Fiji Outing Early Due to Security Risks

Meghan Markle managed to remain cool, calm, and collected in what might’ve otherwise escalated to a scary situation.

As reported by People, Markle was on a solo outing during her royal tour stop in Suva, Fiji on Wednesday afternoon. (Prince Harry was off exploring a nearby forest.) While visiting a market to meet with a group of local vendors to discuss the United Nations Women’s project “Markets for Change,” her security detail soon deemed the environment too unsafe for her presence and escorted her out after just six minutes. She was originally set to stay for about 20 minutes.

Her exit reportedly stemmed from crowd management issues, Kensington Palace confirmed to the Associated Press, as the market filled up with more people than the detail was prepared to handle. “It was hot, humid and uncomfortably busy and there were far larger crowds than expected,” an aide explained to The Daily Mail. “Meghan met everyone she was meant to meet and left. There would have been a lot of people who would have been keen to meet her but she did met those who had hoped to. On advice she was taken out due to crowd management issue.”

Prior to Markle exploring the markets, she spent the morning giving her first solo speech on the royal tour at the University of the South Pacific, where she praised Fiji’s commitment to higher education and reminisced about her own college days at Northwestern University. “As a university graduate, I know the personal feeling of pride and excitement that comes with attending university,” she told the crowd. “From the moment you receive your acceptance letter to the exams you spend countless late nights studying for, the lifelong friendships you make with your fellow alumni to the moment that you receive your diploma, the journey of higher education is an incredible, impactful and pivotal one. It was through scholarships, financial aid programs and work-study where my earnings from a job on campus went directly towards my tuition—that I was able to attend university. And, without question, it was worth every effort.”

While Markle and Prince Harry’s royal tour still has a few more days ahead of itself, if you don’t see as much of Markle, don’t be too surprised. The duchess has apparently cut down on some of her appearances for the remainder of the tour, owing to her pregnancy. Everyone needs some self-care, even the royals.
