The 14 Best Blazers For Women: Plaid, Belted, Colorful

Blazers might be a beloved runway trend now, but they’ve always been a good look—whether they’re among your workday wardrobe staples or simply what you throw on over your T-shirt and jeans as an alternative to the Canadian tuxedo. Before, they may have been perceived as stuffy (or at least too stuffy for everyday wear), but designers have loosened their approach to the structured silhouette. Now, you’re as likely to see them worn with sheer, cropped turtlenecks (on Bella Hadid) as you are with matching trousers (on Blake Lively.)

Shoppers have embraced the versatility of blazers. You can wear them with everything from an oversized sweater and a pair of thigh high boots to underneath the perfect white puffer jacket. You can buy an extra-oversized one and wear it as a dress. (Meghan Markle loves that look.) Basically, the outfit possibilities are endless—as long as you keep your mind open. Let our 14 picks ahead inspire some creative styling.

From plaid to belted to colorful, shop the best 14 blazers on the market now.

Blake Lively's Summer Outfit Features Two Velvet Blazers and No Shirt

The end of summer is still another month or so away, but Blake Lively is apparently ready for fall fashion.

The actress was photographed on Friday in New York—mid-August, where the temperature is a balmy 87 degrees—wearing a blue velvet pantsuit. But that’s not all: Rather than pop on a shirt underneath, Lively layered another velvet blazer on top, this one, by Brunello Cucinelli, in a rich red color. She finished off the outfit with a dark blue leather back, hoop earrings, and spiked nude heels by Christian Louboutin. It’s an outfit that would look perfectly at home on Serena van der Woodsen, or maybe Cate Blanchett’s character in Ocean’s 8.

Check it out.

You know this look is all Lively because the actress doesn’t use a stylist. In an interview with WWD from May, she joked: “Probably because I have control issues and a big ego—that’s probably the honest answer.

“I love design and I love fashion, and it’s a way to be creative,” Lively continued. “In my job I get to be creative, but it’s over a period of time and so many other people are involved, whereas this is a beginning, middle, and end, and I get to be creative and there’s an end date in the near future.”

“The hard part is going through all the fashion shows and screenshotting all the looks you like and calling them in,” she added to WWD. “I have an assistant who helps in calling in the looks. But a lot of it is I have relationships with the designers.” We’d love to see who the style inspo was for this look.

How she deals with the profuse sweating that comes with wearing velvet in August is still unclear, though.
