Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2018: Best Beauty Deals to Score

There’s a new beauty sale announced every other week online—it’s great, not complaining—but if there’s one major shopping blowout we look forward to all year, it’s the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. For three and a half weeks every July, the retailer cuts prices across the board, spanning fashion, home, accessories, and beauty. It’s such a big deal, in fact, the website crashed last year as soon as its cardholder pre-sale started.

Once you see the discounts it’s obvious why. This isn’t a stockpile of stuff that can’t sell. Instead, you’ll find exclusive gift sets (that many bargain hunters have been known to buy and hoard until the holidays), big-ticket brands that rarely ever offer deals (like Diptyque and La Mer), and tons of cool indie lines you can test for a fraction of the cost—sometimes for more than 50 percent off. There’s literally no catch except for the fact that with a total of 450 products to sift through, narrowing the options down can be daunting. That’s why our beauty editors combed through each and every deal to narrow down the list to absolute best deals. Nordstrom Rewards Members get early access from July 12 through July 19, while the official sale runs from July 20 to August 5 for the rest of us. Start planning your list from the 2018 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale now—things will sell out fast.

Real beauty goes beyond the surface—and so do we. Sign up for our newsletter to get honest reviews, personal essays, and more every day.

E! Is Airing Every Episode of 'Sex and the City' for the Show's 20th Anniversary

Get ready to feel nostalgic: The 20th anniversary of Sex and the City is next month. That’s right: On June 6, 1998, we were first introduced to Carrie Bradshaw, Samantha Jones, Charlotte York, Miranda Hobbes, and their mountain of champagne cosmopolitan problems.

For six years thereafter, we watched them navigate New York City’s glittery social scene with style, aplomb, and several bumps along the way (most of them having to do with Mr. Big). The show spawned two films—the first good, the second watchable after two glasses of wine. A third was supposed to happen, but if you paid any attention to pop-culture lately, then you know how that turned out. Regardless of its shortcomings, though, Sex and the City is socially significant for redefining the way our culture views women and sex. And for that, we’re eternally grateful.

So it’s no surprise E!’s celebrating Sex and the City‘s legacy with a giant marathon of the show. Starting on Friday, June 8, and continuing to Sunday, the network will air every single episode of Sex and the City in sequence and nonstop. So, in other words, cancel all your plans for that weekend and stock up on wine—especially if you’re going to break from the marathon to watch Sex and the City 2.

Check out E!’s promo teasing their marathon for yourself, below:

If you do have wine on call for this marathon, may I suggest a drinking game? Here are the rules:

  • Drink every time Carrie brings the conversation back to herself.

  • Drink whenever the women eat salad for breakfast.

  • Drink any time Carrie says, “I couldn’t help but wonder.”

Get ready, my friends. This marathon’s about to be bigger than Big.

Levi's Got 50 Influencers to Customize the Classic Trucker Jacket, in Honor of Its 50th Anniversary

The denim trucker jacket is arguably one of the most iconic pieces of American fashion, ever since that Summer of Love in San Francisco, when George Harrison famously sported Levi’s 70505 Type III topper and introduced an era of rock ‘n’ roll where fashion was synonymous with rebellion. That seminal silhouette was first introduced in 1967—which means that this year, it celebrates its big 5-0. To mark the milestone anniversary, Levi’s invited 50 creative influencers from around the world and a variety of fields, from music to art to fashion, to customize their very own trucker jackets, which were then showcased in a star-studded celebration in L.A.

“I just love the trucker jean jacket—well, I love all jean jackets,” actress Busy Phillips told Glamour at the event, fresh off her flight from Paris Fashion Week (and pink-hair-dyeing shenanigans). “Currently I have, like, at least 12. Is that crazy?!” We get it, Busy: Even five decades later, the Levi’s trucker still proves to be a timeless American wardrobe staple—and a pretty spectacular canvas for a group of very cool people to pour their creative energies onto.

Solange created a long white lab-coat-inspired version, while Karlie Kloss opted for cheeky über-crop; Snoop Dogg used his to pay homage to the West Coast, while Miroslava Duma combined hers with a trusty old hoodie. The one-of-a-kind designs are as diverse and fabulous as the talent themselves. For a peek at all these jackets, as well as styles remade by Karla Welch, Diplo, Justin Timberlake, and more, click through the gallery below to see how the world’s top fashionistas made a classic Americana look all their own.

Barack Obama Surprises Michelle With Anniversary Video Message

PHOTO: Marla Aufmuth/Getty Images

Grab the tissues — Barack Obama is at it again, bringing us, and Michelle Obama, to tears.

While we (and probably Michelle) doubted Barack would be able to outdo his previous sweet social media messages to his wife, it seems he pulled out all the stops for their 25th wedding anniversary. On Tuesday, the former POTUS surprised his wife at the Pennsylvania Conference for Women in Philadelphia — where Michelle was in conversation with Shonda Rhimes — with an incredibly touching and gracious video message.

During the event, Obama appeared on a screen, first apologizing for “crashing” the event, before launching into a two-minute speech that People reports left Michelle teary-eyed and blushing. Obama also shared his message to his Facebook page and, unsurprisingly, his sincere sentiments have racked up 90,000 Likes in just one hour.

“The idea that you would put up with me for a quarter of a century is a remarkable testament to what a saintly, wonderful, patient person you are,” he says in the video. “It was a lot easier for me to do it because the fact of the matter is that not only have you been an extraordinary partner, not only have you been a great friend, somebody who could always make me laugh, somebody who would always make sure that I was following what I thought was right, but you have also been an example to our daughters and to the entire country. Your strength, grace, your determination, your honesty, the fact that you look so good doing all this…is remarkable.”

He continued: “It’s no wonder that as people got to know you the way that I got to know you, they fell in love. And it is truly the best decision that I ever made to be persistent enough in asking you out for a date, that you finally gave in. I hope you feel the same way.”

After Obama’s message, Michelle, per People, turned to Shonda and joked, “I better get home.”

Earlier in the day, Michelle shared her own message—a black-and-white photo from their wedding—on Twitter. “Happy 25th anniversary @barackobama. A quarter of a century later, you’re still my best friend & the most extraordinary man I know. I ? you” she captioned it.

Barack and Michelle’s quarter century of cute moments began in 1989, when they went on a date to see Do the Right Thing. In the years since, the two have shared two kids, a stint in the White House, started a foundation, and, most importantly, shared several goal-worthy moments for the country to swoon over.
