Chrissy Teigen Has a Very Long, Hilarious History of Trolling John Legend
Chrissy Teigen is the queen of the Twitter clap-back, but her finest work might be her John Legend trolls. Teigen is a pro at throwing all kinds of shade at her singer husband, from innocent to the most savage. Her comments are widely-reported on, and Twitter lives for every time Teigen dishes out a (harmless) jab. It’s pretty obvious that Legend has a sense of humor about it, too; I wouldn’t be surprised if these two laugh at how big of a deal the Internet makes their social media interactions.
Teigen’s disses date back to 2012, and they’ve been steady and life-giving since then. Below, a quick-and-dirty timeline of her funny quips, in chronological order.
These six cheeky posts are great table-setters.
Her Twitter trolling dates back years ago, too. Take this tweet from August 2014, for example, about sending nudes.
Or this one about her fool-proof plan for making sure Legend doesn’t marry anyone else.
This Teigen tweet about Legend’s 2014 Grammy nominations was seriously A+.
And so are these three posts, where the shade is low-key but still great.
Things, of course, escalated from there. Trolling tweets also involving One Direction quickly popped up.
There was this joke Teigen made shortly after giving birth to her first child, Luna.
Not to mention back-and-forth shade sessions.
And subtle shut-downs.
Also, political jabs.
There’ve been some straight-up savage moments.
But mostly just shut-downs.
In “retaliation” of Legend dancing with a woman at one of his concerts, Teigen asked a complete stranger to get a lower-back tattoo with her—ya know, as one does.
The tattoo incident may also explain this tweet.
It was honestly epic when Teigen roasted Legend in September 2017 for not answering her calls during an earthquake.
The next month, Legend serenaded Teigen with a singing post, but she shut him down because he apparently didn’t answer her FaceTime.
And then, there was last November, when Legend uploaded a photo of Teigen for her birthday but she was having none of it. “How about a hi-res,” she wrote in the comments in reference to the fact the photo Legend picked was LQ. A few weeks later, news that Legend would be playing Jesus in Jesus Christ Superstar was too good for Teigen to ignore. (Her tweets about the actual broadcast were just as great.)
In early 2018, Teigen grilled Legend for using her phone chargers, and social media went nuts.
She also shaded him about SpongeBob Squarepants, naturally.
Later that spring, after she and Legend welcomed their baby, Miles, Teigen used Twitter as a platform for some (innocent) husband-bashing.
Not long after, she shaded him for not having as many Instagram followers as her.
Teigen’s Father’s Day tribute to Legend was three parts sweet, one part salty.
There have been more Arthur jokes, obviously.
Seriously. So many.
We leave you with this tweet from March 2018, which sums up Teigen’s history of trolling Legend better than words can.
