There's an Unexpected Fashion Connection Between Meghan Markle and Kylie Jenner

Finding connections between Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton‘s wardrobes might not be that much of a stretch. It’s much more surprising to recognize a link between the closet of the Duchess of Sussex and that of Calabasas royalty. But it’s 2019, and anything can happen.

The year kicked off with quite an interesting fashion déjà-vu: Kylie Jenner stepped out on New Year’s Eve in a white, long-sleeved, blazer-style dress. Now, we know that the tuxedo silhouette is a favorite of Markle’s… But turns out, Jenner not only has the same taste in dresses as the Duchess, she also favors the same designers. Jenner’s double-breasted, cotton-twill dress was by sustainability-focused, New Zealand-based brand Maggie Marilyn—the very style that Markle wore on her royal tour in the fall.

Here’s how Jenner wore it, with long sleeves and a shortened hemline.

And here’s how Markle wore it, for a party at Courtenay Creative, opting to have the long, structured sleeves from the original removed.

The brand confirmed via Instagram on January 1 that the two women were indeed wearing the same dress: “How amazing to see another incredible women wear our ‘Leap of faith’ blazer dress – So many remarkable and trailblazing women have worn this dress. It is exciting to see someone of @kyliejenner influence choose to wear and support a sustainable brand.”

When Markle wore the dress back in October, Maggie Marilyn wrote: “The name of this dress says it all – Her Royal Highness, Duchess of Sussex wearing our ‘Leap of Faith’ Blazer Dress. It is an incredible honour to have this inspiring woman wear Maggie Marilyn.”

*A Star Is Born* Has a Surprising Connection to Britney Spears' *Crossroads*

I’ve seen A Star Is Born in theaters seven times and, at this point, can quote the movie by heart. I’m also a colossal Britney Spears fan. So you can imagine my elation at a connection between ASIB and Spears’ movie Crossroads that the Internet unearthed this week. No, you didn’t miss Gaga singing “I’m Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman” when you went to the bathroom during ASIB or anything like that. The Easter egg these two masterpieces share is so deeply hidden that I don’t blame you for missing it.

Drum roll, please, Little Monsters and members of the Britney Army: Crossroads and A Star Is Born each have scenes at the same grocery store. What’s that? A frozen food aisle connection is born? Who would’ve thought?!

It turns out the Super-A Foods grocery store on Division Street in Los Angeles had the pleasure of two pop queens filming in its parking lot. The food emporium serves as the backdrop for one of the most crucial scenes in A Star Is Born. Ally (Lady Gaga) and Jackson (Bradley Cooper) find themselves there late on the night they met, and she sings “Shallow” for him the first time. It’s a hard scene to forget:

The Crossroads scene, however, is briefer and less important. Midway through the movie, Lucy (Spears), Kit (Zoe Saldana), Mimi (Taryn Manning), and Ben (Anson Mount) pull into the same Super-A Foods for a snack run while on their road trip to Los Angeles. At this point in the film, the girls think Ben actually murdered someone—so Kit isn’t exactly thrilled when Lucy and Mimi leave her in the car with him, alone, to get food. She runs after them within seconds, screaming, “Y’all! Wait for me!” It’s iconic. Click here to see a photo of the store.

This is quite literally a Britney Spears-Lady Gaga crossroad. I guess this means they have to record a duet, right? They can film their music video at this grocery store.

The Unlikely Connection Between Meghan Markle and Becca Kufrin

If you’re still burning with confusion over Monday night’s Bachelorette finale, here’s something to make you feel at least slightly better. Turns out, this season’s lovable, too-good-for-someone-cough-Garrett contestant, Becca Kufrin, has a big thing in common with Meghan Markle, and it’s not their ability to rake in the viewers (although there is that).

One is real royalty, the other is reality TV royalty, but their surprising connector? They share a beauty pro. Hairstylist and makeup artist Lydia Sellers used to work with Meghan on the regular back before she was a Duchess, and lately, she’s been teaming up with the Bachelorette star for all her recent appearances. While it might be a stretch to say that Becca’s hair is now endorsed by Meghan, that’s also how the transitive property works, and who are we to argue with math?

When you look at the vibe that Becca went for all season, it makes sense that she’d go with Sellers in her life post-Bach. She opts for waves that are easy, wearable, and sleek but with some touchable life to them, which are all adjectives that applied to Meghan’s pre-royalty hair (and still do, in between her schedule of buns and hats).

To get the loose, effortless waves that Becca likes, Sellers says that she focuses on maintaining the volume and separation in Becca’s hair. Her go-to product cocktail starts with Kevin Murphy’s Powder.Puff volumizing powder, and according to Sellers, it was also crucial to Meghan’s routine for big, gorgeous waves. On Becca, she follows it with the brand’s Doo.Over dry finishing hairspray. The former is a volumizing powder that you sprinkle on your roots for the lift that makes on-screen waves look professional, while the hairspray amps up your texture and gives it the hold to last.

But because Becca contains multitudes and likes options in men and hair, wearing her hair sleek is never off the table. In those cases, Sellers runs Kevin Murphy’s Smooth.Again through Becca’s damp hair before blow drying it smooth with the Hai Stylset blowdryer, which she says leaves Becca’s hair silky and shiny.

Both of those were constants in Meghan’s routine as well, although brand reps say that Sellers would rough-dry Meghan’s hair with her hands, instead of a round brush, to keep her tousled texture.

So there you have it: Two queens, one hairstylist.

Reese Witherspoon Reacted to This Connection Between Donald Trump and 'Legally Blonde'

PHOTO: Jeff Kravitz/Getty

Back in May, President Donald Trump made a commencement speech at Liberty University’s graduation ceremony. Besides having a few somewhat awkward moments, it got a fair amount of media attention thanks to a brilliant connection made by one of Jimmy Fallon’s writers between the President’s speech and one of the most iconic speeches of all time—Elle Woods’ Harvard Law graduation speech from Legally Blonde. On Friday Reese Witherspoon finally got the chance to address the situation and she had a pretty perfect reaction.

Witherspoon appeared on The Graham Norton Show alongside Harrison Ford, Ryan Gosling, and Margot Robbie, and when Norton brought the speech up, saying it bared a strong resemblance to Witherspoon’s character, Elle’s, speech from the 2001 movie, the Big Little Lies actress smiled and laughed saying, “It did.”

Morton played a clip of the two speeches edited together, taking the bits that sound eerily similar. Citing phrases like, “We take our next steps into the world” and “It is with passion, courage of conviction, and strong sense of self…” as well as Elle’s, “We did it!” compared to Trump’s, “I did it.”

When Norton’s guests finished watching the video, they were all in shock except for Witherspoon, who just laughed. “It’s true, he is better when he sticks to the script,” Harrison Ford said.

When Norton asked if Witherspoon knew how Trump’s speech ended up sounding like her’s and she just shrugged saying, “I’m sure he’s just a big fan.”

Check out the clip below:

It looks like Trump might’ve been taking notes the last time he caught an all-day Legally Blonde marathon on TV. We don’t blame him, it’s a pretty inspiring speech.

Maybe this is a sign that the star should think about running for office? She did tell us she might do it one day, or at least run the campaigns for a few of her friends. She’d be great up there at the podium.
