Melania Trump's Wax Figure Is Here and, Well, It's Really Something

Regardless of your opinion of Melania Trump, there’s one thing everyone seems to agree on: Her new wax figure is really something. On Wednesday, Madame Tussauds in New York City unveiled the first lady’s lookalike, in honor of her 48th birthday on Thursday. Considering President Donald Trump told Fox & Friends Thursday he was too busy to get his wife anything besides a card this year, it’s nice to know she received something to commemorate the event. Whether that “something” is a good or bad thing, though, seems to be up for debate.

Some members of the Twittersphere commented online that the wax figure is a dead ringer for the FLOTUS, while others say it looks literally nothing like her. All things considered, the jokes about Melania’s wax double were almost too easy to make, and the wax versions of the first couple — Melania’s now stands right next to her husband’s in the museum’s “Oval Office” — have gotten straight-up roasted since the fake First Lady was unveiled.

Aside from whether or not the figure looks like Melania, there’s something else that’s a bit odd about it: Per Cosmo, the statue is going to be able to speak, giving us serious flashbacks to animatronic Donald Trump’s reviled debut at Disney World’s “Hall of Presidents.”

Throughout the month of May, people can tweet with the hashtag #MTMelaniaMoments for the chance to have their words read aloud by the FLOTUS. It’s part of an initiative called “Give Melania a Voice” (which you can interpret as you see fit.) To provide you insight into how that hashtag is coming along, many of the suggestions on Instagram include “help,” “save me,” and “get me out of here.”

Former Press Secretary Sean Spicer was on hand at the wax figure unveiling, and he had some kind words for the first lady. “We’re opening this thing as a tribute to the first lady, and the first lady’s done such a fantastic job of showcasing our country,” Spicer said at the debut, according to People. “And I thought, what a fine tribute to such a great woman who is doing such phenomenal work on behalf of our country.”
