Jenna Dewan Tatum Just Chopped Her Hair Even Shorter

There are pros and cons to having a signature hair look. On the one hand, when you commit to a color like Gwen Stefani has and keep it going for 20 years, that’s dedication. But on the other hand, it’s easier than ever to switch up your look. And where some stars opt to do so with wigs (hi, Kris), Jenna Dewan Tatum just got a good ol’ fashioned trim and all-over color, and the difference is, no exaggerating, pretty drastic.

To take a quick stroll down memory lane to two weeks ago, JDT was wearing her hair in an angled, collarbone-length cut that fell into the trendy, no man’s land space between a lob and bob. Combined with caramel ombré highlights dusting her ends, the look was a major departure from the mermaid waves she was wearing this summer.

Granted, summer feels like one second ago, but we were here for her fall cut. And the takeaway? Equipped with her hairstylist, Kristin Ess, this lady feels no fear about losing inches. And now, JDT’s back at it again with a major trim, and it looks fantastic.

In an Instagram posted by celebrity makeup artist Allan Aveñdano, we got our first look at the new style. It’s short, it’s dark, and it’s crazy how much of a difference a few inches can make. It looks like Ess and Tatum said goodbye to her ombré for good (for now): her new color is a deep, almost-black espresso that makes Tatum’s skin look all the glowier. Hard to do, but it is what it is.

Important to note though, the pair held onto the blunt cut ends that made Tatum’s last cut look so incredible. But that’s not all that surprising: every other actress and model in Hollywood is going for a blunt cut or has already, thanks to their chic, but casual, low maintenance endgame. Yep, we can’t blame them.
