Chrissy Teigen is known for speaking out about false stories printed about her, and that’s not going to end any time soon—especially when it comes to her marriage.
Earlier on Thursday, the model posted a seriously cute Instagram with husband John Legend to celebrate their four-year wedding anniversary. “Do you know what to-day is #itsouranniversary ❤️,” she captioned the shot. But, despite the good feels and well wishes in the comments, some tabloids just can’t help but start rumors that the couple is having problems. InTouch posted a story online on Wednesday with the headline, “John Legend and Chrissy Teigen in Marriage Counseling for Last Six Months, Source Reveals” alongside a blurb on its cover that reads, “Chrissy & John on the brink of splitting.” But, according to Teigen and Legend, it could not be further from the truth.
On Thursday morning, Legend replied to a distressed fan on Twitter who wrote, “Feeling rather sad about this news, l consider this couple my power couple @johnlegend why????” with “Don’t believe these stories! We good!!!.” Meanwhile, Teigen couldn’t hold herself back from getting just a little bit more forceful on Instagram. She posted the InTouch cover with the caption, “Oh in touch go f-ck yourselves, you exclusively dumb pieces of trash.”
Honestly, good for her.
The two are definitely couple goals, thanks in large part to their candid honesty about their relationship—the high and the low points, thank you very much. Recently, Legend revealed that he tried to break up with Teigen when they first started dating 11 years ago but she was having none of it. “I was really stressed and busy,” he told The Guardian. “I was just like: ‘I’d just be happier single right now,’ and she was like: ‘No.’” In her own words, “It wasn’t a typical breakup. He was on tour and his voice hurt and he was being a whiny face about everything and so yeah, I was like ‘no’.”
So don’t worry, fans. Seems like Teigen and Legend are doing just fine. And if they do ever reach “the brink of splitting,” we’re sure she will be the one to break it to her fans.
