Anna Faris Speaks Out for the First Time Following Her Split From Chris Pratt
It’s been over a week since Anna Faris and Chris Pratt announced their separation, and people still haven’t recovered. (My sister literally called me last night to talk about how much she loved them.) Like Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s divorce from last year, no one saw this split coming. It was basically pop-culture whiplash.
Pratt and Faris released a poignant statement about their uncoupling last week, but they’ve remained relatively quiet since then. Yes, Pratt gave a speech at the 2017 Teen Choice Awards Sunday night (August 13), but he didn’t mention the split or his personal life at all. Not that we were expecting him to—it was the Teen Choice Awards. Plus, Faris and Pratt aren’t obligated to say anything about their breakup…even though the entire world is in mourning.
But Faris did open up about the situation, briefly, during her Unqualified podcast on Tuesday (August 15). “Hey, dear listeners: I just want to thank you all so much for all the love I’ve been receiving, and I truly love you,” she said.
That’s all she directly said about her split from Pratt; however, an answer she gave one of her listeners loosely nodded to it.
When a woman called in and asked Faris how she should handle a problem with her boyfriend and one of his co-workers, Faris said, “Don’t be afraid of the future. You’re young. You’re in L.A.. There’s a lot of amazing people out there. Don’t feel afraid to feel your independence if things aren’t right.”
She continued, “I made that mistake, I think, a little bit feeling like, ‘I’m checking my relationship off the list,’ and, um—The final advice I could give you would be know your worth, know your independence, know that you’re young, and there’s so many people out there. There’s so much life experience. I hope you get to live it all and experience a whole lot of people. Life is too short for you to be in relationships where you’re not feeling like this isn’t fully right or somebody doesn’t have your back or somebody doesn’t value you in every way.”
Of course, we don’t know if Faris was referring to her relationship with Pratt—but the fact this topic even came up at all is ironic. And sad, too.
