Leaving Netflix in July 2018: These Movies and TV Shows Are No Longer Cool for the Summer

If I had my way, I’d watch Hilary Duff’s seminal classic A Cinderella Story every day. And with Netflix, I had that possibility. The movie’s been available for streaming on Netflix for a while now, but the gravy train is about to end. That’s right: A Cinderella Story is leaving Netflix streaming at the end of July. This is more devastating than the time Sam’s evil stepmother (Jennifer Coolidge) forged a Princeton rejection letter and gave it to her. Remember that? And those weird, warm cookies she offered Sam as a consolation? What a monster! (But also: What a performance. Jennifer Coolidge is supremely underrated.)

Also monstrous is the fact that Bring It On—and its many, many sequels—is leaving streaming in July. What, is Netflix trying to erase all traces of my youth?! What am I going to watch now?

Here are the other movies and TV shows Netflix is axing in July. Get them in now while you can.

Bow Accents Are the Most Instagrammable Fashion Trend of the Summer

A good #OOTD is all in the details. That’s why accent closures—lace-up sides, rope belts, even double waistbands—have become all the rage in apparel: They’re attention-grabbing (and hence make for good photograph material) and are pretty much the only embellishment you need to make an outfit stand out. The latest entry in this trend is actually familiar, as designers are rediscovering the ease and simplicity of a classic, simple bow.

You pretty much can’t find a statement blouse this summer without it having some sort of bow accent—either on a strap, on a sleeve, or even on the neckline; same goes for dresses, skirts, trousers, and slide sandals. All you need to be on-trend this season is to tie your lewk up in a bow, apparently. So reacquaint yourself with Blair Waldorf’s embellishment of choice with the pieces ahead.

I Finally Came Around on White Denim for Summer, and So Should You

Somewhere in the formative years of my style education, I was told that white denim was universally “unflattering”—and up until recently, that stuck with me. I avoided white jeans, shorts, skirts, and dresses at all costs for fear of drawing too much attention to the lower half of my body (as the magazines of yore warned me). But more and more, I would be confronted with plenty of good reasons to ditch that “advice,”courtesy of my favorite denim brands and fashion bloggers. Plus, denim has come a long way since then: The fear of staining is no longer as big of a concern, and there are plenty of silhouettes beyond the textbook skinny jean to try, depending on your personal fit preferences and aesthetic: culottes, cropped kick flares, midi skirts… and beyond. Consider me a white denim convert.

Now, do yourself a favor and stop ignoring the outfit potential in white denim this summer. The following pieces should help you get started.

25 Tie-Dye Fashion Pieces to Wear This Summer

For many, tie-dye has two distinct associations: the psychedelic vibes of the Summer of Love, or the nostalgia factor from days spent crafting at summer camp. And yet in 2018, the color-soaked pattern is having a distinctly fashion-y resurgence—and it’s a ways from the peace-sign emblazoned version you might have somewhere in the back of your closet.

You saw it on the runway at Ralph Lauren and Sies Marjan, and in the Resort 2019 collections of designers like Prabal Gurung—all of which are pretty good reason to view the style in a new light. Tie-dye is as fun as ever, but its latest iteration feels pretty grown-up.

Whether you’re hitting the beach or laying out at home, tie-dye deserves a shot at entering your summer wardrobe (especially with the added bonus of not needing rubber bands and messy dyes to DIY). Brands are doing the work for you, releasing colorful dresses, tees, swimsuits, and shoes that follow the unofficial Haight-Ashbury dress code. Ditch your by-the-book seersucker and gingham for a look that’s a little more relaxed but equally seasonally-appropriate with the tie-dyed fashion picks ahead.
