Chrissy Teigen Calls Out 'Sh-tty' Friends Who Sell Stories About Her

Chrissy Teigen, model, mother, host, and cookbook author, is never one to mince words on Twitter, and she just used her platform to call out a tactic used by many celebrity gossip writers: taking quotes from unnamed sources. As in, “this thing happened to this celebrity, according to a friend of the celebrity.”

Quote-retweeting an article from E! News about her supposed pregnancy cravings, Teigen wrote, “You guys should do a service to all the celebs who give you hourly content and say who your sources are so we can get rid of the shitty ‘friends’ in our lives who sell you stories.” Damn Chrissy, go off.

It’s not 100% clear if she’s calling out E! News, the “friend” who leaked the information, or both. It’s understandable that she’d want to get people who would sell anonymous quotes about her out of her life. Or maybe she’s insinuating that the quotes are fabricated or from people who don’t really know Chrissy very well. She’s totally correct to point out that “the celebs who give you hourly content” deserve better than to be used as clickbait, especially if the story isn’t true, but it’s also worth mentioning that the relationship between celebrities and the press is symbiotic. The reason people know about Teigen’s many projects is because they, and her life, are well-covered in the media. She might also be mostly joking. (This is Chrissy Teigen we’re talking about, after all.)

As for the article itself, the “source” basically says that Chrissy is eating a ton of junk food and excited about being pregnant. Hmm.

One Twitter user, though, suggested a pretty genius way to find out who the leaker in Chrissy’s circle is:

Unfortunately, she doesn’t have the poker face to pull it off:

Get a solid squad, Chrissy!

Meghan Markle Just Made a $670 Bag Sell Out

Once you become royalty—not that I’m speaking from experience—every single choice you make is scrutinized, and in the case of Meghan Markle’s fashion, every choice has sent stampedes of shoppers clamoring for their own identical coat/bag/dress. This isn’t exactly a new phenomenon—Kate Middleton‘s style choices famously drain accessible brands out of their stock—but it’s clear that the Meghan Markle effect is taking hold.

Just a few days after Canadian brand Line the Label literally renamed a coat after her after she wore to announce her engagement to Prince Harry, the handbag she carried during the couple’s first official outing in Nottingham on Friday has officially sold out.

To be fair, it’s a great bag. Designed by Strathberry, an Edinburgh-based label, the bag’s bordeaux leather exterior is accented by a peacock-blue fold and vanilla handle held in place by a gold crossbar.

Strathberry, a brand found in luxury department stores around the world, told ELLE UK that after Markle’s appearance with its Tricolor Midi Tote, the bag sold out in 11 minutes. Eleven! The bag, by the way, goes for £495, or $667 at today’s exchange rate. (If you’re happy to carry another color, they start at £455, or $613 at current exchange rates.)

The sell-out effect is on par with Line the Label’s newly renamed coat: After Markle’s coat was ID’d in the outfit credits from coverage of her Nottingham visit, the brand’s website actually crashed as everyone tried to buy their own $626.50 coat.

If you want to get your hands on Markle’s Strathberry bag…well, you’ll have to wait until after the new year, when the brand says it will restock the style. But considering that Markle’s stylist, Jessica Mulroney, is also dressing Canada’s elegant Sophie Grégoire-Trudeau—wife of, yes, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau—it’s more than likely the Markle Effect won’t be slowing down anytime soon.
