Lady Gaga Is Starring in a Movie About the Gucci Family Murder: Here's What We Know

Ever since Lady Gaga floored critics and audiences alike with her performance in A Star Is Born last year, the world’s been waiting to see what movie she’ll do next. And now we know: Deadline reports the pop icon is slated to star in a film about the Gucci family, specifically the murder of the founder’s grandson.

Gaga will play Patrizia Reggiani, who was convicted in 1998 for arranging the murder of her husband, Maurizio Gucci. She was released from prison in 2016 after serving 18 years.

Ridley Scott, who’s directed several critically acclaimed movies, like The Martian and Gladiator, will helm this project. If his previous work is any indication, we’re in for another awards-season blockbuster. (Scott himself has amassed four Oscar nominations, while Lady Gaga scored a nomination for best actress and a best original song win for “Shallow,” the central tune in A Star Is Born.)

Not much is known about the Gucci project at this time, but here are a few details.

The plot: From a script by Roberto Bentivegna based on Sara Gay Forden’s book, The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed, the movie will center on the rise of the Gucci empire and its foray into the corporate world under CEO Domenico De Sole and creative director Tom Ford. Interspersed with this is the story of Reggiani, who had two daughters with Maurizio Gucci (he left her in 1985 for a younger woman). According to Deadline, Reggiani had a brain tumor removed, which her children blame for her actions involving Maurizio’s murder. But the tabloids weren’t as kind to the matriarch, dubbing her a scorned “Black Widow.”

The cast: Lady Gaga is the only actor attached to the project right now. That will surely change soon.

The director: Ridley Scott.

The release date: Unknown at this time.

We’ll update this post as more details come in.

Fort McMurray Woman Suspected of Alleged Fraud Found Murdered in British Columbia

A Fort McMurray woman who was suspected of alleged fraud has been murdered, and her body was discovered in British Columbia. 28 year old Vikki Heppner was found dead on March 29, 2016 close to Stave Lake in close proximity to a service road. Heppner was being investigated in Fort McMurray after it was determined that thousands of dollars were removed from a memorial fund for the family of Roger Belanger who perished in a car crash. Belanger left behind a wife and two children and the online fundraiser was supposed to raise funds for the family. Heppner set up the GoFundMe account, and the money disappeared after more than $24,000 was raised. After Belanger’s family complained that they did not receive any of the funds intended for them the Wood Buffalo RCMP started an investigation. At the time of her death Heppner had not been charged with a crime.

The alleged fraud against Heppner was not proven before she died, but after the investigation she did leave the Fort McMurray area according to her mother because the theft became public knowledge. Someone who was driving in the area of Stave Lake came across a burned body and reported this to police. At first police would not release the identity of the murder victim but the body was confirmed as Heppner’s by CTV Vancouver. 29 year old Ryan Jack Armstrong has been charged with second degree murder as well as a charge of indignity to a body, and investigators confirmed that Heppner knew Armstrong at the time of the murder.

Jessica Padgett Murder in Pennsylvania Linked to Necrophilia

The murder of Jessica Padgett has been linked to necrophilia by law enforcement officials on the case. Padgett, a 33 year old newlywed and the mother of three, disappeared shortly after leaving work in November of this year. Family and law enforcement frantically searched for the young mother, and Padgett’s body was found 5 days after she disappeared. The man responsible, 53 year old Gregory Graf, was the stepfather of Jessica Padgett and is currently still married to Jessica’s mother. Graf murdered Jessica by shooting her in the back of the head, and then he engaged in necrophilia with the body. What is even more shocking is that Graf videotaped his sexual acts with the woman’s corpse, and law enforcement seized the video when it was discovered.

According to the prosecutor involved in the Jessica Padgett murder case, John Morganelli “There is videotape … apparently self recorded by Mr. Graf, of him engaging in sexual acts with the deceased body of Jessica Padgett. This is the first case of what is now shaping up to be necrophilia homicide. We are doing research on this now. It’s a bizarre type of homicide.” What is even sadder in this case is that apparently Jessica Padgett and her stepfather Graf had a good relationship until the murder, with Padgett stating on social media that Graf was like a second father to her. In an unusual twist Graf asked for a taxpayer funded attorney to defend him against the charges, because the suspect told the judge that he did not want to use his own money even though he has the financial resources to hire a legal professional. This request was denied by the court.

Murder Charges Filed Against Suspect for Death Involving Man From Gregoire Lake Reserve

The death of a man from Gregoire Lake Reserve has resulted in murder charges for the suspect in the case. On November 30, 2014 the Wood Buffalo RCMP were called to the Gregoire Lake Reserve area for a report of a death, and it soon became clear that it was a murder case rather than a death by natural causes. The call came in around 1:30 pm in the afternoon, and the name of the victim has not been officially released yet. The murder suspect who was charged is 32 year old Cody Woodward, and he was arrested on Thursday after police identified him as the suspect in the case. The investigation is continuing but law enforcement felt that the evidence so far warranted a murder charge.

Cody Woodward, the man charged with murder in the death of the man from Gregoire Lake Reserve, is set to have another court hearing today. So far Woodward has not been released and has been kept in custody. When the Wood Buffalo RCMP arrived on the scene on November 30 the deceased male was located inside of a residence on the reservation, and the initial investigators were quickly suspicious about the circumstances and the evidence that was found. If convicted Cody Woodward could face many years of incarceration. No motive has been discussed or released by law enforcement, and there are still many questions that remain to be answered in the case. It is not yet known by journalists whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the murder, or even whether the victim and the accused suspect even knew each other.

The Luka Magnotta trial for the murder of Jun Lin continues, and the former pornography star admitted on the stand that he was almost caught by people in the area when he went to a Montreal Park in order to dispose of the head of Jun Lin. Luka Magnotta has entered an insanity defence, and he has admitted committing the murder and dismembering the body of Jun Lin among other crimes. The defendant says that he dumped the head of the victim because it was sending him messages, and a psychiatrist has diagnosed Magnotta as being a paranoid schizophrenic. Luka is hoping that the jury agrees and find shim not criminally responsible for the crime.

According to the confession that Luka Magnotta made about the murder of Jun Lin the victim had his throat slashed and then his body was dismembered. Magnotta admitted to having sex with the body parts and then sending the pieces across the country in the mail. Marie-Frederique Allard, the psychiatrist treating Luka Magnotta, made a record of the close call and then diagnosed the defendant with schizophrenia and determined he was not able to form criminal intent. Louis Bouthillier, the prosecutor on the case, believes that Luka Magnotta is criminally responsible for the murder of Jun Lin. Bouthillier questioned the psychiatrist, asking her “Why did he leave? Did he tell you why he left?” Allard responded “Because he went to bring the head to the park. He didn’t want to be seen.” The prosecutor then responded “Why didn’t he want to be seen? Because he knew it was wrong to walk around with a head?” Allard has also admitted that Luka Magnotta has repeatedly lied to psychiatrists, including herself.
