Sentencing for Save on Foods Flasher After Guilty Plea

flasher, Save on Foods, guilty plea

The Save on Foods Flasher in Timberlea has entered a guilty plea for his crime and has been sentenced to time served. Frank Johnstone appeared in court via CCTV, meaning that Johnstone remained in the Edmonton Remand Centre and appeared using a closed circuit television system already in place. The flasher entered a guilty plea in Fort MacMurray Provincial Court on Monday, where he was charged with one count of indecent exposure and two counts of failure to appear. Johnstone was held for 72 days before entering the plea and being sentenced to the time that he has already served. The incident took place on December 14, and police located Johnstone from descriptions that were given by witnesses to the incident.

Chris Williams, the Crown prosecutor in the Save on Foods flasher case, did not argue against the guilty plea. According to Williams the RCMP was called to the store and arrived around 6 p.m., and when RCMP arrived Johnstone was still in the store parking lot. According to Williams “While in the grocery store, he pulled down his pants and exposed his erect penis.” An employee told law enforcement that the erect penis was pointed right at them. Johnstone told the court “I’m a reasonably good person, I think I’ve learned something here. I’m not going to be messing around with anything like that.” Reports do not show any alcohol or drugs involved, and Johnstone was not under the influence when he flashed store employees. Johnstone was rebuked by Judge Stephanie Cleary, who told the flasher “Anybody who could act in this fashion in an establishment frequented by families is not a reasonably good person. I don’t know how disconnected from the community you have to be.”

A fatal collision in Calgary leads to a guilty plea by the driver. On August 18, 2012 at around 3:30 am Ramandeep Singh Jaswal blew through a stop sign, hitting a woman and sending her a distance from the accident while killing her in the process. Minutes after hitting the woman Jaswal inquired if his car was going to be okay, without showing the same consideration for his victim. The guilty plea means that the reckless driver will probably spend some time in the penitentiary and the plea covered four charges. Ramandeep Singh Jaswal entered a guilty plea for dangerous driving causing death, dangerous driving causing bodily harm, and refusing to provide breath samples where bodily harm and death occurred.

After the guilty plea for the fatal collision Jonathan Hak, the Crown prosecutor, read from the facts that were agreed on. These facts included that Jaswal was driving at least two times the posted speed limit in the area where the fatal collision occurred, and that he ran the red light at Sarcee Trail S.W. And Bow Trail. Hak told the court that Jaswal struck a Ford pickup carrying Sean Mahoney and Kelli-Jo Smith, Mahoney’s wife. “Smith struck the side of a barrier and came to rest approximately 11 metres from the Ford. Smith suffered major head injuries and died at the scene. The Mercedes was calculated to be travelling between 123 km/h and 145 km/h at the time of impact.” Sean Mahoney was also severely injured in the fatal collision, suffering from broken vertebra, broken teeth, soft tissue damage over his body, a head injury, and dislocated neck discs.

acid attack, aggravated assault, guilty plea

The man who committed aggravated assault and perpetrated an acid attack against his ex girlfriend has entered a guilty plea, and will be sentenced for the crime that he has plead guilty to. The acid attack happened in August of 2012, and the victim Tanya St. Arnauld was severely injured and came very close to dying. The defendant in the case is Nikolas Stefanatos, and he has been in detention since he was arrested for the aggravated assault in 2013. 30 year old Tanya St. Arnauld was standing on the steps in front of her Longueuil apartment when Nikolas Stefanatos dowsed her with acidic concrete cleaner, leaving her with more than 20% of her body burned and in a coma.

Since the acid attack Tanya St. Arnauld has had to endure a number of surgeries and skin grafts which cause excruciating pain, and she still bears physical and psychological scars from the aggravated assault on her that day. The guilty plea of Nikolas Stefanatos will not undue the trauma and pain of her experience, but St. Arnauld has started to move forward. The woman remembers the acid attack, and screaming hysterically as she ran into the apartment of a neighbor for help. Tanya St. Arnauld talked about when she thought she would die, saying “I thought about the little things, that I hadn’t seen my mother that day, my regrets, things I’d missed. The things you take for granted … it’s taken away in a split second. Every detail, every sound, even the acid smell … that’s what I see all day,”
