*The Hills* Cast Will Reportedly Reunite at the MTV VMAs

This year’s MTV VMAs were already worth the watch: Not only are Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj, and more scheduled to perform, but Jennifer Lopez will also be receiving the Video Vanguard Award. But now, it’s set to reach even greater levels of drama, since The Hills cast is reportedly set to reunite on the red carpet before Monday night’s show, according to Us Weekly. Here’s hoping none of those homeboys wear combat boots to the VMAs.

An unnamed “insider” told the outlet that after unspecified stars of the six-season show reconvene during the pre-show, they’ll be the subject of a “big announcement” from MTV during the VMAs ceremony. And though this is a maddeningly vague, anonymously sourced report, it could potentially imply that the long-awaited revival of The Hills is finally happening nearly a decade after the reality show came to a close. Such a reboot has been rumored time and again since the 2010 finale; most recently, in June, another unnamed source told Us Weekly that MTV was seriously considering getting the old gang back together after seeing the “mega success” of the Jersey Shore revival.

Though MTV has made no official announcements about a new version of The Hills, which would presumably depict Lauren Conrad, Heidi Montag, Kristin Cavallari and their pals doing school runs and getting to bed early instead of partying all night at Les Deux, some of those cast members have actually expressed interest in reliving the glory days. Here’s where each of the main cast members stands on the issue of either bringing the show back or letting it live on only in Hulu binges and annual MTV marathons.

Lauren Conrad: Though L.C. hasn’t ever spoken publicly about the possibility of driving back to Beverly Hills with her hair blowing in the wind and Natasha Bedingfield’s “Unwritten” blasting on the radio, Spencer Pratt told TMZ earlier this year that Conrad was the only holdout on the idea. “Bless her angel heart,” he oh-so-generously added.

Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt: Speidi, meanwhile, are unapologetically rooting for a reunion. The duo, parents to 10-month-old son Gunner, have spoken about the possibility several times on their podcast, Make Speidi Famous Again, with Pratt suggesting during a February episode that the camera crew follow the cast to Hawaii. “I think it would be like that Saved by the Bell episode where they all went to Palm Springs. I have a vision: Mai Tais, luau. It’d be a big party where everyone dresses up,” he said.

Kristin Cavallari: Cavallari, mom of three with husband Jay Cutler and star of her own new reality show, told Us Weekly that she’s fully on board. “I would love to do a Hills reunion. I was talking to E! about doing one, and we were gonna do it, but then two people had to pull out because of another contract, so hopefully it’ll happen at some point, but it’s been out on hold for the moment,” she said in June.

Audrina Patridge: When Us Weekly reported on the possible revival in June, Patridge told them she was “not opposed” to the idea. “It would really depend on what it was going to be. So, we’ll see,” Patridge, who welcomed daughter Kirra Max in June 2016, said at the time.

Whitney Port: Port, mom to one-year-old son Sonny with husband Tim Rosenman, told Us Weekly in April that there was a “slight possibility” of a reunion. “People are talking about it a little, but there’s nothing actually, like, concrete in the works. I think it would be hard to get everybody back together again just because we’re all in such different places, but it’d definitely be something fun,” she said.

Lo Bosworth: In a February 2018 episode of her Lady Lovin’ podcast, Bosworth shared what she’d said when a TV executive had recently proposed a reunion: “I was like, ‘F*ck no!'” She continued, “I don’t want any association with any of those people. The dissociation from all those people is what I’m hungry for.”

Tune in to the 2018 VMAs on Monday, August 20, at 8 P.M. ET to see what, exactly, this alleged announcement will entail—and whether Speidi will ever be made famous again.
