Celebrities Reveal the Most Random Things They've Asked Their Assistants To Do
A celebrity’s job involves being in the public eye. We see them everywhere—on our screens, in magazines, on billboards. What we don’t see, though, is the behind the scenes work it takes to make it all happen: And for most, that involves a trusted assistant. Yes, these celebrities rely on their assistants to keep track of their hectic schedule and run errands—but for most, an assistant is more than just a paid helper who uploads pictures to their Instagram or stocks the fridge. They often become friends, confidants, and honorary therapists.
Still, you know these assistants get asked to do some pretty crazy stuff. In fact, one celebrity told us off the record that he has his assistant pick up his marijuana supply for him. Lucky for you, others were more forthcoming about their super random requests. Below, they tell all.
Uzo Aduba: “Since I’m a kid, I love this sandwich—turkey, lettuce, tomato, pickles, American cheese, extra mayo, not cold, nothing heated—and one night I had a hankering for it. Oh God, this is so embarrassing. It was maybe like 10 P.M., and my assistant doesn’t live close, or she wasn’t close [to my house], but I was like, ‘Do you mind maybe going to pick up this sandwich and bringing it to my house?’ And she’s like, ‘Now?’ And I’m like, ‘I mean, if it’s cool, if it’s on your way, whatever! But if it doesn’t work, don’t worry about it!’ And she brought it. I love you, Morgan!”
Ashley Graham: “So I was getting my stool sample tested, and I had to give my stool to my assistant, and she had to make all these errands holding my stool, and then had to do a delivery of my stool. She’ll do anything for me. People know what stool is, right?”
Niecy Nash: “I’m a beauty girl, so I’ve literally had to call my assistant and say, ‘Can you take my daughter’s braids out?’ They’re like, ‘There’s thousands of these tiny braids! That’s what we’re doing today?!’ I’m like, ‘Yes, it’s hair day!’”
Jenna Lyons: “I had my assistant boil an egg at home and bring it in for my salad. Because the place that I order my salad from wouldn’t put an egg on it. And it was my favorite place.”
Patrick Starr: “I asked them to build my Christmas tree and stack it on top of my patio table because I wanted a little more glam this year.”
Julia Michaels: “I had my last assistant plan a birthday party for me. But that entailed getting plastic balls for a ball pit, getting tons of balloons, a donut wall, etc.”
